108 First Escape

Olivia raced back into her room, once she was inside she slammed the door and leaned against it. She pulled out the letter that was safely tucked away in her apron's pocket. She gently pulled out the letter, unfolded carefully as her fingers trembled from anxiety.

When she had the letter completely unfolded her eyes raced across the words that were written. She started to laugh hysterically after she finished reading the single page but soon her laughter turned to tears as the words repeated in her mind. 'We didn't do anything. I lost my virginity to my toy while Eli stuck in some earphones and slept in the bathtub. Please don't hate us.' Olivia put the letter over her face. She allowed allowed her knees to buckle causing her to slide down. The moment she felt the floor she folded her legs and just continued to cry silently.

She had already figured out what happened when she saw the toy underneath the blankets but the reality of it was that her sister sacrificed the one thing she could never get back. Olivia wiped away her tears and got up, she felt determined to start her battle plans against Agni. She folded the letter quickly and shoved it back into the envelope.

With the letter clutched within her grasp she opened up the passageway to the secret room. Then rushed down the flight of stairs and tossed the letter onto the coffee table. She started to pull the bag out from underneath the stairs but remembered the toy hidden behind the washing machine.

She dropped everything and quickly ran back to the laundry room to grab the hidden toy. She didn't know what to do with it but she knew she couldn't leave it laying around. The only thing she could think of was to throw it out with the garbage. She placed the last of the laundry in the dryer, collected the clean sheets, waddled towards the foyer and placed the basket down.

She rushed into the kitchen and tossed the toy out. She pulled out the bag and carried it into the foyer. She needed to bury the toy so she left the garbage untied. She carried the laundry basket upstairs and shoved the sheets into the linen closet. She peeked into the girls rooms and saw they were kind enough to make their own beds. She rushed into each bathroom and collect the bags of garbage. After she had enough bags she rushed down the stairs and back to the garbage bag.

She dumped the contents into the main bag and tied it shut. She through the bag over her shoulder and onto her back before she tried to walk to the main door. She jogged her way to the border and took a couple of deep breaths before she got herself ready to sprint across the distance. After she tossed the bag and was back to her starting point. She slowly walked back towards the house, she started making mental noted of everything that she needed to do in order to bring Agni down.

Olivia shook her head, 'No that's not right.' she thought to herself. 'The founders fairytale, I need to know the truth about that before I try to find Agni's biological brother.' She tousled her hair in fustration she didn't know how she was supposed to tell him that his sister had not in fact perished with the family in that fire so long ago. Would he consent to a DNA test or would she have to try to trick them both into one?

The thoughts in her head just swirled around, by the time she reached the door her brain felt fried. Then it hit her today was probably the only day she had to go research the founders fairytale. She slammed the door shut, she went into the utility closet and fetched the steamer. She grabbed a bottle of Mr. Cl*an and rushed upstairs. They were going to be busy a majority of their day, she had time but needed to clean the house first.

The best way to make it look clean was to make it smell clean! She filled the steamer's canister with part water and and part Mr. Cl*an before she plugged in the steamer. It didn't take long to steam the whole house, she did the walls, the floors, the sinks, bathtubs and shower stalls. After she was done an hour and a half had passed and she felt excited as she looked at the time. "9:30, I'm making good time." she said to herself before she went back to her room.

She quickly changed out of her uniform and into the punkish looking ones that she wore previously for Officer Rennie. She then rushed down to the basement and dug out the Allen key, hoping she wasn't going to set off any alarms. She held her breath as she inserted the key and started to loosen the lock. When it felt like there was only one turn left before the whole thing came on done, she saw sweat droplets land on to the table. As she turn the key and felt the anklet slid downwards to the top of her foot she let out her breath.

She peeked at the anklet and saw that light was still green, there were no warning sounds or alarms. She gingerly picked up the anklet and pulled it off, placing it along with the Allen key on the coffee table, next to Laila's letter. She grabbed some $20 bills from the bag, took one last look at the table and rushed up the stairs. She closed and locked the secret entrance and took the key with her just in case someone raided he room during her absence.

Once everything was secured she hustled upstairs and ran into her old bedroom. She started to pull out the drawers, searching for what she hoped to be an unexpired library card. She found it in the third drawer and started to laugh out loud in joy. She quickly put everything back where it was originally and left the room. She ran downstairs and grabbed a pair of shoes, once she had them on she reached for the door handle.

The moment she touched the handle she let it go as if it was on fire. She realized she couldn't go through the front because the gatekeeper would probably out her to Agni. She took a few cautionary steps back and start to scratch the back of her head, wondering how she was going to get out. "Eli!" She shouted to herself. She ran to the backyard of the house, she stepped outside, she looked left then right. She decided that right might have been her best option as it was the shortest distance between the house and the neighboring property.

She got herself ready by shaking out her nerves before she sprinted across the area. With every footstep that hit the ground as she ran, her heart pounded harder against her chest. She was tasting freedom for the first time after continuous torture, even though she had only been locked up for a few days, to her it felt like a lifetime.

The moment she made it to the woods, she hid behind the first tree in order to catch her breath. As her chest was moving rapidly up-and-down, sweat rolled down the side of her face. A mixture a fear and excitement was coursing through her viens, but she couldn't linger too long in the moment. In her mind, she virtually had little time to do research, she peeled herself off the tree trunk and started to consciously walk through the woods until she reached the wall.

It was made of beautiful, white brick, standing at a good 8 ft in length. She decided to try to attempt climbing it but found it a lot harder than trying to climb building and she couldn't risk going all the way to the corner to get the lift she needed. So she followed the wall until she found a good sized tree with sturdy banches that reach just far enough to the wall.

She quickly found one and looked down at her abdomen. "I'm sorry my little water lily, mommy's just going to be a little rough but please stay safe." she said to be abdomen as she gently rubbed it. She expertly started climbing the tree, made it to the branch and swung her legs over in a horse riding position.

She started to scoot up the branch while testing it with her weight, she was pleasantly surprised to see that the branch held up pretty well. She gauged the distance between her and the wall. She figured she could launch herself forward to the top of the wall and slide down the other side.

She slowly started to lift herself up from her riding position to a standing one. She counted to three and lunged herself off the branch and towards the wall. She kept her knees tucked in to keep her abdomen safe, the impact of her knees hitting the wall as she caught the ledge was horrible. She refused to let the pain stop her, as she held on for dear life, she uncurled one leg and swing it over the top of the wall. Pulled herself upwards and was sat on the top of the ledge.

She nervously looked at her neighbor's property and saw the had some shrubbery. She hung herself off the wall, look down and when she felt comfortable enough she let go. She landed on the balls of her feet and stayed low to the ground just in case the neighbor had seen her sitting on the wall. She started to crouch forward, after a few minutes she came to the conclusion that no one had seen her and felt relief wash over her.

Sh figured she wasn't too far from the gatekeeper and took a peek out of the shrubbery. Her muscles were thank in her that she was right, she slowly approached the box and tried to come up with away around him. She couldn't pay the person off, she had only grabbed enoigh money from the bag so she could make a round trip on the bus, buy meal or two and pay for a taxi if she ran out of time.

She shook her head no, she couldn't risk bribery so her option was to outsmart him instead. As she moved forward, she ran out of shrubbery to hide in. It was a good two feet between her and the gatekeepers box. She shrugged and lifted herself up, walked over and took a peek inside. She didn't if she should have laughed or cried, there was an older looking male slouched back into his chair, his hat coveref his face as he gently snored away.

She didn't want to wake him so she reached into the station and gently pushed the green button that would have unlocked the gate. She took a few steps back, apologetically bowed to the gatekeeper before she ran towards the gate. It was only going to stay open for a few minutes and she had no time to waste.

She rushed to the gate and opened it enough so she could squeeze out. She looked over the street before she closed the gate and rushed off towards the route she usually took when she was going off to work. As she was approaching the bus stop she heard a familiar roaring of an engine. Her heart started to pound as she looked down the street. She didn't know what to do, she wanted to rush towards the sound but the guilt of leaving the house before he returned was eating away at her.

Her instincts screamed flight and she turned around and tried to hide within the bus stop shelter. She thought that she could try to make herself unnoticeable as she squeezed herself into the corner, shut her eyes and breathed shallow breathes. The moment the sound of the engine became ideal, she opened her eyes and felt sweat roll down the side of her face. "My love!" she yelled awkwardly. Eli allowed his shoulders to sag as he dropped his gaze downwards.

Olivia stepped out of the bus shelter and slowly moved towards his bike. "I was planning to email you a library notice from one of the library's computers and hoped you would understand my secret message. I mean you are so smart and diligent that there was no way you wouldn't have known it wasn't me, right?" she started to ramble on as she moved closer. Eli pulled off his helmet and gave her a cold stare.

Olivia gulped and had to fight the urge to not run away. Eli caught her by her waist and brought her closer. He gently rubbed her abdomen as his gaze turned from cold to loving. "You're seeing my grandmother first then I will take you to wherever you want to go." he said softly before kissing her lips lightly.

Olivia blushed as they parted from each other. "So you're not mad at me?" she asked cautiously. Eli kissed her forehead as he laughed. "Of course I am but right now I want to make sure you and our baby are okay."
