1 Prologue

A young man was walking to and fro in a hospital, in front of a room, looking very anxious. "Hope everything's going well", he stood at a place, tapping his foot on the ground.

The door was opened and the gynaecologist came out of the room. The man quickly went to her, holding her two hands in anxiety. "What's the update?", he inquired.

""Congratulations doctor", she covered her mouth with her hand, "I'm sorry...I meant to say Congratulations Prof. Your wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy", she smiled at him cheekily.

"Yes! I'm a father!", he jumped up out of joy. He began dancing, chanting a song. The dance was normal at first, with the doctor feeling happy for him.

The joy was overwhelming, the professor didn't know when he began dancing weirdly. He began dancing the chicken dance and then rolled on the floor. "I'm a father baby!", he shouted.

The doctor's happiness changed to worry. "Is this not way too far?", she asked herself. Everyone that passed mistook him for a mad man and passed by, making sure they stayed far from him.

Another staff ran to the doctor and whispered to her ear. "You're sure he doesn't need treatment?"

"This sickness will go after a while...hopefully", she whispered back.

Five months later! The Professor's wife, Mrs Okechukwu was breast feeding the baby on her bed when her husband, Mr Okechukwu entered the room. He brought with him porridge yam in a food flask for his wife.

"Guess what I made for you today", he said to her, smiling widely.

"I know it's porridge yam...I can smell the aroma", she replied. "Baby's done with his food...time for Mummy to have hers", she kept her baby on the bed and it laid comfortably.

Mr Okechukwu opened the food flask for his wife and gave her the spoon he brought. She began eating directly from the flask.

Mr Okechukwu stared at his baby boy and felt proud. "This our Son will be a great man, he'll make us proud. He's going to be as smart as I am...even smarter surely", he chattered to his wife.

"I say Amen to all you just said for our Son...our Daniel", she said with difficulty because she had a big hot piece of yam in her mouth.

Mr Okechukwu gestured that he'd got a new idea. "I think his name should be Wisdom rather", he said, stroking his beard.

His wife looked at him with a straight face. "This is the tenth time you're changing our Son's name", she indicated with her fingers.

"It's because I occasionally see new wonderful things he'll be", he smiled at her childishly.

"This is going to be the very last time our Son's name will be changed. I'm not capping this time around", she said to him with her mouth full.

"I also agree...permanently, from now on...hopefully", he shrugged his shoulders. His wife looked at him with a grimace, "By God's grace, our Son's name will permanently be Wisdom Ifeanyi Okechukwu", he caressed Wisdom's head.

"You really love this your Son, don't you?", his wife smirked at him.

He sighed and shook his head. "I just can't wait for him to grow up."

Things didn't happen as they hoped they would. Wisdom was opposite of his name. He was poor academically. He was never focused in his studies.

"Wisdom! You're in Primary 4 and you can't spell erosion, huh?!", Mr Okechukwu was frustrated at him. They were in Wisdom's room, trying to do his assignment on his bed.

"But Daddy, the word is difficult to spell", Wisdom replied with a moody face.

"I'm going to write down some words for you to learn. Hope I've got it straight?", he frowned at his Son.

"Okay Daddy", Wisdom nodded his head, fumbling with his fingers.

When he was in the Junior Secondary School, things became alarming. One day, he was watching TV when his Dad barged into his room.

"How can you score 4 out of 30 in your Basic Science test?", Mr Okechukwu was furious.

"Daddy don't mind that teacher...he's always lazy in teaching students. He's not even sound at all", he replied, still focused on the television.

"I think you should replace he's with you're. Idiot!! Switch off that TV immediately!", his Dad ordered aloud.

"I don't like the way you treat me like Daddy. I know I am smart", he switched off the TV and walked away angrily, stamping his feet.

"Why did I even name you Wisdom honestly?", his Dad kept his hands on the waist, feeling disappointed.

When he was in his final year in secondary school, his Dad planned on what to do about his SSCE (Senior Secondary Certificate Examination) that was at the corner.

He discussed about it with his wife in the living room. "I need to take Wisdom to a miracle centre if not, he'll fail his SSCE", he said to her.

"Like really? You don't believe your Son can pass the exams?"

"You and I know very well he won't get good grades, not even a C without help", he replied.

Mrs Okechukwu shrugged off her shoulders. "I don't know what to say right now", she heaved a sigh.

"I'll take that as a yes", he clicked his fingers.

     *                      *                      *

After some months after writing his exams, he was in his room, using his smart phone. He was checking for his results online. The image loaded up and he saw he had 6As and 3Bs. He jumped and yelled with joy;"I made it!"

"Mummy...I made it! I knew I'd pass with flying colors", he said to her. She was in the living room knitting.

"Congrats my Son...You've made me proud", she feigned excitement, forcing out those words from her mouth.

"I'm smart and wise after all...just keeping up with what I was named", he showcased his teeth, feeling so proud. His Mum shook her head in disappointment as she kept on knitting.

Mr Okechukwu walked into the parlour with his wife's phone. "I'm done using the phone honey", he kept it on the chair she was sitting on, right beside her.

He went and sat on another chair. "Today's really boring...nothing to be done", he said as he yawned.

Wisdom walked up to him. "Daddy I'm so happy today. Guess what happened!", he said, feeling enthusiastic.

"You finally have something in that empty skull of yours?", he mocked Wisdom.

Wisdom did not find it rude at the moment. "You actually got it right Dad...there's now a proof of it", he smiled childishly. His Dad sat up, curious to know what was going on.

"I just checked out my result, I passed with flying colours", he stretched out his hand to give Dad the phone.

Mr Okechukwu with a grimace on his face, eyed his Son from head to toes in an insulting manner. He hissed;"The exam you sat for in your school or in a miracle centre?"

"Daddy does the place really matter...I have a good result, we're not celebrating?", he asked turning to his Mum to see if she would say something. None of them gave him a response, Mum focused in her knitting, Dad looking at the wall opposite of him intently as though he had hung a treasure there. Definitely, that was a better thing to do rather than to reply to his Son.

This is the prologue guys...

No much slangs in this book...I don't think there will be up to 10 to be precise so...be rest assured.

This happened in the country Nigeria.

NB: A miracle centre is a place where students who want to pass their O-level external examinations by all means go to. It's an illegal place...

But Wisdom's Dad had no choice right?

His Son was not living up to the expectations he had for him.

I can assure you guys a lot of good things from reading this book...there will be lots of entertainment.
