3 CHAPTER TWO

"How will we find that place, Evy? you saw him burnt that map. The medjai warned us and you try to risk our life to find that place".

Said Jonathan, he pacing around the room. "We've could die out there, Evy".

"The medjai warned us because he know what capable we can do. He try to scared both us and nothing will Jonathan. You have to trust me".

She smile. "Hamunaptra is the lost city people will risk their life find the treasure

Like you want to".

"Yes. Bey also remind us no one leave that place - alive".

"How you know?" Jonathan exhaled, she spoke back. "I will show the world I found Hamunaptra without harm".

"If you try to persuade Bembridge to accept you that's not a good thing to do. Stop dreaming you could kill us both".

She bolt up, "We should go".

"Go where?"

"Hamunaptra".

Jonathan out from the conversation. He walk to the door then he stop. He look over his shoulder.

"If you wanted to go there we need someone who had experience about Hamunaptra. We can't go there alone without someone experienced".

She smirk said. "I think I know who, Jonathan".

Days later. "This is.. INSANE!" Shout Jonathan, with Evelyn lacked experience about Hamunaptra, they two arrive in Hamunaptra.

It take a days to arrive, Evelyn met someone who had experience about Hamunaptra in black market. Without Jonathan knowing all this, she done it all by herself behind his back.

And now here they are in Hamunaptra and safe. Nothing strange happen as they arrive. She seems pretty happy what she archiving for.

"We did it, Jonathan. We did it! I told you we can do all alone". He shake his head. "Go find your treasure".

He look her. "I can just find what I want. I cannot believe you doing this, drag me in here without my knowing and my opinion about this. So, where exactly you met someone experience about Hamunaptra and doesn't get us kill".

"My theory".

"Your theory not helping, Evy". He sigh out loud. He climb down back of the camel. Circling around the place. "This is Hamunaptra?"

Evelyn climb down, stood beside him. "Yes. This is Hamunaptra".

"You should get what you need to explore this place, we must do quickly before sunset. Because we don't know when nights come -"

"Oh, Jonathan. Stop thinking badly". She get her tools. "We here wasn't for fun and one day you will thank me".

He looked her. "Is that mocking?"

"No". She walk to him with smile. "I'm your sister, Jonathan. You have me and I have you, we'll do this together".

"Maybe I should listen the medjai. What his name again? Bay, Bey, Bayou? Something like B. London waited us home".

"I don't want to go back to London, this place where mother born".

He about to talk back sudden someone show up. It was Ardeth. He followed them till Hamunaptra, though they might be in dangerous but his though were wrong. They perfectly fine. No cursed are harming them, was that lucky or something.

"You both really disobey my order. Haven't I told you to leave the place". He slide down his mask under his chin. "Now, what are you doing in here, Hamunaptra".

Evelyn smirking at him. "Anyone who come here never returns".

"So you followed us don't you?" Ask Evelyn. "Just said it. You followed us from home".

"If I were you, I watch where I going". She crossed her arm on chest, Ardeth spoke back. "Something people like you won't understand what curse you brought".

"Thought medjai won't afraid anything".

Ardeth shake his head. "I don't. I wasn't afraid of anything - but you two. You don't know anything about this Hamunaptra, nor even you brought someone experienced about this place."

Jonathan glares at Evelyn. Ardeth spoke back. "I don't think they will help you either. This place is cursed. Amuse me you two made it".

"What the – ahhh!"

Evelyn scream echoes as she been sucked under the dessert by itself. The two man are watching, she stumbled on top of the ancient tomb down the bottom of the ground. Jonathan are worried but not for Ardeth.

He stood beside Jonathan like nothing happen to her. He won't worried about Evelyn. He know what happen next. She will screaming like an hell calling for help.

"Evy?!"

"Jonathan!" She cough. "Jonathan! Come down here and help me".

He scratch his back head. How would he help her?

"Are you alright, Sis?"

He saw her on top of the statue of Anubis. Without they three know, inside it contain Imhotep body buried underneath it. To deep to reach his Evelyn.

She make Ardeth amused again, that how she survive in this deepest holes and didn't get any injured or scratch on her skin.

"Are you hurt?"

"No".

"That cradle safe your life".

"Owh shut up, Jonathan".

She jumped off the statue. Dusting herself, she look up at the two man on top of her.

"Help me out from here". She hear Jonathan giggling. "That's not funny. How am I supposed to go up there".

Jonathan look at Ardeth. He just standing there looking down at his sister.

"Maybe he could help you". He point at him. "He will".

"This is trick. I knew it. He dig in here so one of us could fall on his trap". She shouts to Ardeth. "You did this, did you? You did this. You know why we here that's why you dig this trap for us".

Ardeth rolled his eyes. "If I wanted to, I will setting all booby trap upon you both. You died. No one knows". He about to leave. but –"

"Beside, if I help you. You must promise me after I get you out from this holes you and your brother must leave this place immediately".

He smirk. "As a deal".

"I rather rot in here by myself then I made my promise by you".

He about to leave but Jonathan beg him to safe Evelyn. He won't promise to leave the place.

"Give us second chance, Ardeth. She love explore something new without her capable".

I heard that. Said Evelyn down to holes. "Please?"

"Waited here".

He watch Ardeth walk to nowhere, he look down. "He'd just left".

"What?!"

"Just hang on okay. I'll try to figure it out how to safe you".

"Then what should I do down here alone".

Minute later, after waiting. Evelyn sit on top of the cradle, she humming a song that her mother use to sing for her. From up there, Jonathan hear her humming.

He knew the song, that's their mother lullaby song. Evelyn sudden hear something whispered around her. She standing on top the cradle, trying to protect herself.

She couldn't figure it out what kind of whispering she hear. She sure something call her name. She gulped hoping for the rescuing.

"That wasn't funny!"

"What? I didn't said anything". Said Jonathan on top of her. "What you hear down there?"

She sit back, hugging her leg. The place full of darkness and blank without a torch. What should she do if something trying to attacked her.

"Jonathan. Stop fooling around!"

"I didn't do anything!"

"Where is He! I think something down in here with me. I couldn't see anything, everything is dark".

Evy.

"Go away!"

"I'd said go.. AWAY!"

Evy.

She cover both her ears, not wanted to hear something call out her name. This is so freaking scared her out. She shut her eyes tightly. In second she open her eyes, screaming as she saw Ardeth stood in front of her.

She cursed him. "Not bad of cursing".

"Did you call my name?"

"I don't even know your name and your brother, how will I call yours".

She take a deep breath, said. "Thank God! But how?"

"Secret passageways. Hamunaptra is my place to protect people from coming in here. Come, there's no need to arguing with me. I'll tell you everything that you need to know. But first I must get you two out from here".

Night at campsite, outside the Hamunaptra temple where others explorer and treasure hunters are based. They three take a sit on the desert. The siblings having a drink as for Ardeth glass of water. He drink it in thirst.

"So?"

"I'm Evelyn Carnahan and this is my brother Jonathan". He point at sleeping Jonathan. "Oops, he's asleep".

He nod. "Who know this place beside you two".

"No one".

"What reason you trying to explore Hamunaptra".

Evelyn drink again. "I've been looking for a book. Book of the Living. As I know the book is powerful. I've been read it at the library. If the book pass at the wrong hand. This place will destroy".

She chocked. "I mean we all destroy".

"You drinking". He sigh. "Yes. They had two actually. We hid it for people like you".

"You haven't told me how you get inside that holes and safe me".

"You must believe me. I don't usually do a trapped for people. It was there since the beginning. My people took care the place and we know everything. Hamunaptra is the city of the dead. People trying to go there for gold. They believe of treasure than ancient cursed. They don't believe for their safety. Just like you two did back there".

Sigh again. He spoke back. "Americans. Where the group encounters. Treasure hunters what they called."

She scoffs him. "We did not. Hamunaptra is the place that I wanted to go. People said that place doesn't exist. So I figured it out how. Buy the camels for two straight to Hamunaptra. Boom! There. It right there where'd it stood".

"If you still looking for that book I suggest you stop. Because you don't know the cause."

"Whatever."

She up from where she sit. He watch her. "Your drunk as I said".

She snort, said. "What is a place like me doing in a girl like this. Yeah, something like that. Egypt is in my blood. You see, my father was a very, very famous explorer. And he loved Egypt so much, he married my mother, who was an Egyptian, and quite an adventurer herself".

"I know you're wondering. I get your father and I get your mother, and... I get him, but... What are you doing here?"

"Look, I may not be an explorer or an adventurer or a treasure seeker or a swordfighter, Ardeth. But I am proud of what I am".

He looked her. "And what is that?"

"I... am a librarian". she smile. "Urgh, why should I told you that. You won't listen".

He smile. "I'am listening". She scoffs walk nowhere. He shocked to see Jonathan take a sit beside him. Thought he were sleep but no.

"Our mom and dad died in plane crash".

"She stubborn".

"Yes, yes. I try but she won't listen".

Ardeth sip his drink. "She risking her life for that book. She also risking your life too. She didn't know the rest of the stories while she stucked down there".

Jonathan shocked. He continue. "I hear it too. Though was you try to calm her. Something like a wisp. That the different when you look at her from the top than below. I was watching her actually. She look terrified and scared. And I don't believe you could hear it too."

"She though it was me".

"Jonathan!."

She exclaimed. The men turn to her. Ardeth noticed something she hug on her chest as she take a sit.

"You're not gonna believe this what I found".

"Lovers?" said Ardeth. "Oh no, my mistake. Death".

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "This". She show the men.

"The book of dead -" He shocked. "How?" ask Ardeth.

Despite she wanted to find Book of Amun-Ra but – "The americans. They were there too. They found this book and I took it without they realizing".

"You stole it?" asked Jonathan and she nod with smile.

Ardeth trying to snatch that book from her hand but she fast than he expected. She hug the book tightly. He can't just snatch that book from hers, what if his hand suddenly brush between her breast? tits?

She would kill him if he did. Back from that, he know the book made of. He know the book will do what. Again. He trying to get that book by force.

"Oi! That my sister. You trying to reach her boobs on purpose?"

"I reach the books not the boobs. Hand it over to me. You don't know what will this book done to universe".

"Owh, sound so mysterious. Well, it belongs to me now".

He grunted almost beated her up. He then left the sibling behind for a while. He calling out one of his man near the place. As he were gone. She attempt to open the book.

"The keys? Jonathan the keys".

"Stop it, Evy. We don't know what this book will do to us. Just waited for him okay".

"I know you have it with you – just give it to me".

"What thing had possessed you my dear sister".

"KEYS!"

He slopped his hand inside his pocket. He reach the puzzle box, which is the keys of any book could open it. Jonathan handed the box to her. She reach it and carefully she open the box.

"Evy! Stop. We must stop this. No wait? You, you must stop this. This book is cursed like Ardeth said".

She glare with smirk. "How do you know this book is cursed".

"You told me. You brilliant than me. You know that than me".

"Oh, Jonathan. It's nothing. I just want to see inside that all."

She succeed open the book with the keys Jonathan gives her. The book is unlock. Her eyes widen. Gently she touch the cover. Heavy and black.

The book of the Dead. One book could bring anything dead to lives. If she bring one of the creature back to life. The world will face a serious problem, dangerous disaster they couldn't imagine. Hoping she won't read anything from the book.

"Look at this, Jonathan." Her finger pointed on the symbols and she accidently read the page out loud.

Ardeth notice something changing above the sky. He ran back toward the camp where the sibling at. As he hear her. It's to late to stop her.

"NO!"

For the first time in Carnahan bloodline. a mistaken. Evelyn Carnahan bring Imhotep back from his death. The world now will face the only one who cannot be named.
