10 CHAPTER NINE

Day in the morning with Carnahan's. Again. Jonathan slowly reaching downstairs. Thought he doesn't mind about what happen to Evelyn. He did worried if something bad happen to her last night.

Imhotep. The name fears as He.

He stalked her in here. Wasn't shocking news but His here. Can you imagine?

He'd follow her here. Lucky she were alright. God's heavenly protecting her. He haven't touch her. Well, not psychically touch her.

He didn't try to hurt her either. Ardeth were right about Imhotep. Everything is about Imhotep are real happen.

He walk into the kitchen. Smiling, he saw her. So did she. Still alive.

"Good morning, Jonathan. Breakfast is ready. Come and sit".

He drag the chair and sit. He looked at her. "How your sleep last night, Sis?"

She nod her head, telling him she's okay with her slumber sleep last night.

"Good to hear". He said. "Are you sure your okay?"

She looked at him. "You sound so funny early this morning, Jonathan. What's up to you?"

"I'm fine".

She smile. Pour the tea inside the cup. Then take sit front of him. "You wanna talk about it".

"About Imhotep. Yes". He drink the tea. "Are you sure it was him you saw last night. Or perhaps someone else. That might scared you. That why you thought it was Him".

"So, you fancies him".

"I'm not".

"It was dark and night, Jonathan. Who else who wear black garment like he did".

"I thought you don't see him clearly. How so sure it was him".

Exhaling. She sigh out loud. "I don't know. I don't know how to explain. But things is _ I'm very sure it's him. He followed me last night. No wait. He followed me since the library".

"Your not admiring him, Sis?" She stare. "The body, the masculine or something attracting you to him. Drooling about him, his body. You better start talking before Ardeth found out".

"What are you talking about, Jonathan. I'm not admiring him. Or sort of you said. I'm not, believe me. I had a choice to run and I run. Why that so complicated to said".

She breathe, continue. "Do you know how any ideas risking my life and how any ideas he would hurt me last night. No wait. Since the library".

She repeat the words again. Jonathan bit his lips. "Turn you into His".

"I made a mistake, Jonathan. And I'm not gonna blown up again. Just help me, figure it out how to send him back into the underworld. I've been searching like how".

Ardeth come in view between them. Horus on his shoulder. He feeds Horus with bread. Evelyn ask him to join them for breakfast and he accept it with open arm.

"You saying?" ask Jonathan to Ardeth as he take a sit.

"Not much likely to said early this morning. Like I'd said, you two really need my help. And I did help for reason".

Horus flew out the house after eat. Ardeth reach cup of tea and eat pancake Evelyn's made for them. He eat it like there's no another days.

"This is amazing. I do love foreign food. I've never travel myself except here. I born here. This is my home. That my job to protect. I never leave this place".

Evelyn smile. She nod thank you. "We should leave this place I think. Not cause of Imhotep but _ I'm miss my homeland".

"Suddenly?" ask Ardeth.

"Not quite. When I've got that chance back. I should. But I'm to follow my instinct, stubborn and I should give up what archive for. What I did. Now, here I'am. Stuck between this affair, I don't know how to send him back without book of Amun-Ra. That golden book is everything".

She sigh out loud as she sip her tea. "Totally messed up".

"Precisely messed up, blaming yourself. I did warned before". said Ardeth in low voice. "I helped you and I'll try to fix everything you did. Just we need each other help".

Jonathan sigh follow by Evelyn. "This is called risking life not just you or me. Everyone. All people. Just think how His power could destroy the universe".

"I couldn't forgive myself. His hunting me. If I made a mistake again. I kill myself".

Jonathan patted her back. She can't just read or snap her finger and He's gone forever. Why she didn't think her doing, her act that will risking everyone life.

If she read another wrong inscription inside whatever book she found, what will the other thing will showed up beside Imhotep.

Could be worst than Imhotep.

"Have you found anything inside the book? The book you hide in your bedroom. That book is important. Keep it and safe. Don't let anyone read from it".

He take a last drink of tea. He spoke back. "Don't read it unless is necessary. But I don't think is necessary. I will take the book back to Hamunaptra. The place where it belongs".

"I'll leave this place". Both men looked up at her. Did she just said _ Without hesitate. "Yes. We moving, Jonathan".

Ardeth nod gently. "Then return the book to me. There's nothing you need it anymore after your moving. We'll take care all this now".

"You made me feeling bad on this, Ardeth".

"This is your choice. I can't stop. London need you. Of course Egypt need you to. Your blood belongs to two places. We the Medjai, willing to sacrifice our life to protect this place. You don't have to worry about that".

Jonathan about to said something but he cut him. "Go. Wherever it takes. Go. For your own sake".

"Will Imhotep follow me there?"

"I don't know. Maybe".

"I'm sure he is".

"So you like to be follow by Him?" She shake her head. "Then why you always talk silly things that ain't happen yet".

She gulp. "For sure that's all. Of course not. I don't like it".

"This is the place where he born, grown and died. His soul bind in here. If he made a prays with God's, allow to come with you. He will. Nothing can't stop him to get you".

Jonathan bit his lips, said. "He'd can do that? Is it amusing or just kind a weird".

"He's the priest, Jonathan. Of course he'd will do such a thing, fussing thing with God's to get me".

Horus back to Ardeth shoulder. There's a small band tied on his leg which Ardeth Bay would use to tie notes onto. She noticed kind a cute falcon she ever seen.

"Must do not worry about this house. We take care of it while you away". He study her face. "Was is your final decision, Evelyn?"

Faking her smile, nod her head again as her eyes on him. "We must".

Days later. The Carnahan's out from Cairo's to London until it safe for them to coming back again.

Ardeth stood middle of the crowd. Hand behind his back. Watch the siblings put their luggage on cart and half of things they brought from the house. The ship crew helped them out.

"For god sake heaven be careful! This is Antiquities and money come first".

"Apologise, Sir. It won't happen again".

His eyes locked on Jonathan. Then back to the ship crew push the cart inside the cargo. Evelyn look around with smiled. Finally. She made her right decision to leave this place for good. Hoping Imhotep _

"This is it". Her eyes on Ardeth. "Finally you made us leave".

He smile, said. "Your choice. Not mine. To protect you two _ I must". His eyes study the ship. "This ship is big enough for people of this City, moving out urgently".

"Dr. Bey hoping I will coming back".

"He'd like you. He may be look like that, but his heart doesn't said everything he mean it".

"Sound like you knew him better than me, Ardeth".

He just smile without saying any word of it. About Bey, his closer contact. "Until we meet again".

"You to. Didn't I tell you, you the handsome man I ever met". He shake his head no. "I'm sure I did mention that".

"No. Hadn't".

"Thank you for everything you've done for me and Jonathan while we here. Are sure you not coming with us?"

"The desert need me. I can't left my people and being so selfish to left them behind while I having my own time in London with you two. This is not the Medjai. We protecting".

She rolled her eyes. "Fine. Protect people as you forgotten about yourself".

"You like me, Ms. Carnahan?" He smirk, she totally blush. "It's part of my job".

She study his face for a while, the last face she will ever see again after this. She notice the tattoo on his face.

"You're a good man, Ardeth. Your the lady killer. Woman like me won't deserve better man like you".

He gives her sweet smiled she never seen it before from him. She realise everything Imhotep had on his body Ardeth got to.

Sexiest man ever. "Goodbye, Evelyn". He patted her arm.

Later that. He watch the siblings boarding the ship, they waving him goodbye with smile. He'd nod his head understand that nothing possible they three could meet again.

The ship slowly gone out from his sight. As everyone, the crowd leave the place. He looked over his shoulder wheres couple of the Medjai out from the hiding place behind him.

Not wanted Evelyn or Jonathan notice them for some reason. He glad the sibling is back where they came from and now is this time to protect the City from Imhotep.

"Yalla, Nimshi!"

Inside the ship. Jonathan and Evelyn walk at the corridor cabin, searching for the number of their cabin room. She accidentally stumbled on her knee as the little child running and laugh then disappeared around the corner.

Anger. Where this children come from? She stood up dusting her skirt. Resuming her walk to cabin.

"Oh, I already miss that house".

After she said. They both found the cabin. Jonathan unlock the door then burst inside follow by her behind. They drop their bags on the floor. And take sit on bed.

"The house or Ardeth?" He ask. "Imhotep".

"Stop that!"

"I could ask the captain turning this ship back to the port".

She glare. "NO! You don't have to do that. I'm fine. Just _ It's been so long we haven't travel back to London. Just this".

"That the different between Cairo and London, Sis. When we get home, convince yourself that you will get that application successfully".

"Will they do that? You know I'm lacked of _ experience. When I got back to London I'm gonna burn that place down to dust".

She growl. "Lacked of experience? Eat my shit!"

"Hah. That something new about you since we know Ardeth".

"He had nothing to do with it. Oh, Bugger! I've been interest in Egypt and its ancient history commenced when I learned, in my youth, of the Book of Amun-Ra, the finding of which I marked as a sort of a life's pursuit".

"Stop that. We're on the ship. Forget all this, Evy". Silent. "I can't believe you had a crush on him. Your professor? What his name again?"

She turn at the cabin window. Nothing to be see just water and the waves. The sound of people chatting outside the cabin. Laugh of the children. Sometime ship's horn could hear it too. Jolt everyone whom _

"Take your rest. Later an evening we go to see your favourite. Sunset view on the ship. Later night I'm gonna get drunk".

"Oh, don't be so comfortable on that drink".

Same day in Cairo's. Imhotep searching for hers. The house is empty. He went to library but no sight of her. He went to Anita's restaurant. Also, he don't see her there.

What happen to her? Where could she been hiding? Medjai?

Babu got back from market. He brought food from him and Imhotep. As he enter the abandoned house, he saw Imhotep pacing around the room. He know what happen as Imhotep pacing around the room.

Its all because Evelyn Carnahan. Doesn't he know?

"Imhotep?" He look down at the little boy face. "Are you alright?" He ask. "Is she doesn't it".

Imhotep nod his head. The boy spoke back. "I was at the port today. The ship is boarding. And she in it".

"What? Ship? She? What? I don't understand". He breathe. "Do telling me what I didn't know today".

"She left".

"To where?"

"London. I hear the owner of the museum she work with. He said something about her while I was around days ago. I thought you know".

Imhotep shake his head. He want to cried but sudden anger feel in him. She left him. She left him forever.

"I don't know how long she stay in London. Perhaps, forever as she like. She born there. I'm sorry".

Babu back away from Imhotep. He can see Imhotep eyes filled in anger. Of course he will mad at him. Now, with Evelyn gone without telling him.

He looked down at the boy. "Remember that I always love you and promise to look after you. Well, today I can't. Promise me you will find someone who can look after you".

"What do you mean?"

"GO!! I don't need you to see. GO! Before I kill you".

He warn the boy. He can't control his own strength. Babu try to comfort him but _ Imhotep scold him and ask him to leave for good. And he did, cried. He ran out to nowhere.

Imhotep hopes and pray to God's, that someone will look after him while he can't. He loves the boy so much.

Somewhere in Cairo. Medjai hiding place. Ardeth saw unnatural disaster thing happen up the sky. His lips muttered. Imhotep already discovered her missing.

In his prayers, hoping Evelyn and Jonathan are safe. A journey back to London with no harm. Like he'd said, no one could stop Imhotep.

"Tareeq?" He call one of the Medjai. "Its him. Imhotep. Find the boy. We raised and train the boy. And told him whom Imhotep was".

His eyes back to the sky as others Medjai left him alone. Softly he shake his head.

"May Allah help us".

For Evelyn on the ship. She saw that too. She may be panic because she now middle of the ocean without land. She never forget her pray for their safe. Hoping the ship cross away from that thing.

"Did you see that?" ask Jonathan as they walk toward the deck.

People are now start to panic after they saw the view. The sky a red. Red as a blood.

"What that bloody earth sky is that?"

She whispered. Saying the name.
