16 CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Ardeth leans on the railing enjoying his own moment nature. Jonathan drink at the small bar not far behind him, he look up at the bright sky, inhaled the air and smile.

Already missed Egypt since he had to stay in London with the Carnahan. Never thought Imhotep will show up again and return to Hamunaptra with Evelyn.

Now. He and Jonathan risking their life to safe her like _ again.

"Hello?"

Someone tapped his shoulder from behind. He turn and face two attractive single women behind him. He look confused, never ever women want to talk with him.

People in Egypt know who he is. Never dare try to talk with the chieftain like him and the warriors.

Does these two women look for Jonathan. "What brought you board to Egypt?" One of the woman ask him. "Why you wearing like someone just died".

"This dress not waited someone to died. I'm the Medjai. Lead of the warriors in my homeland, this is how I dress".

"All of you medjai? Even the tattoos on your face?"

He nod. The women introduce themself.

"I'm Bridget Vogel and this my friend Lena Kostas. We're on our vacation, this is our first time trips to Cairo all by ourself without tour guide. We snap our finger and we here on this boat"

Both women smile. Ardeth look at the back of Jonathan.

"Are you looking for, Jonathan? His right over there". His finger point at the bar. "He maybe need some company to talk with,especially women".

"We don't want him. We want to talk with you".

"Why?"

"You're beautiful man. What your name?"

Blinked. "I'm Ardeth Bay".

Later that moment. Ardeth continue leans on the railing boat after having small talked with two women name Bridget Vogel and Lena Kostas from London.

He ask the women to be careful as their arriving to Egypt. They won't see him again after this.

Since the kidnapping, he didn't had enough sleep. Ardeth Bay was above all other things, a Medjai, a warrior for God that would let nothing stand in his way of succeeding in his mission to keep the world safe.

He felt someone approaching behind him, know it was Jonathan all along. He stood beside him snickering.

Tapped his shoulder. "I saw you. I saw you with those women". Chuckle. "Did they look for me? You should tell them I'm in the bar. I buy them drink".

"You drunk, Jonathan. And it's not good". Ardeth stare. "You better conscious yourself before I thrown you out from this boat".

Jonathan grab his arm, his face pale after drinking to much. The boat are moving to fast, the waves are smacking below the boat and the engine.

Jonathan throw up. Ardeth back away from him. "That devil! Sneaking little devil". said Jonathan, wiped his mouth.

"I don't know why you take this boat to safe my dear sweet sister who been kidnapping by Imhotep the dead. You know how long it takes to get there by boat".

Jonathan swallow hard, his body move rapidly. "Choo! Choo!"

He laughing. Leans over Ardeth, eyes up on his face. Jonathan smell so bad because his drunk, he can smell from here.

"You really had a beautiful eyes, Ardeth. I admit your are beautiful inside out. I've never seen in my life and you came to safe us".

"You embarrassing me, Jonathan. People are looking at us right now and they will think we're are couple. And you my wife".

Jonathan scream, said. "Let them see us like this. Oh, I love you!"

"Be gone, Jonathan!"

"NO! I demand something". He chocking the smile. "I wonder what Imhotep done to my sister".

"As long the creature not trying to hurt her, she's fine. And you still drunk!" He look around the boat. "What about you helping me feeding my Horace. His waiting".

"I'm not gonna feed that bird!" Jonathan look around the boat too. His eyes then caught women walking on deck. Snickering, he trying to wooing. "That sweet!"

Ardeth shaking his head. "I take boat because I heard you afraid of height. And you throwing up if you reach above".

"No I'm not. Who told you that? Was that my sister? No. I'd never scared of height. I'm fine with height place".

Swallow hard, he spoke back. "Does this had to do with my Evelyn kidnapping".

"How can you safe her if you drunk like this? She gonna kill you before the creature does".

He walk pass drunken Jonathan then look over his shoulder.

"I'm tired. Since my arriving in London I never get enough sleep while you wasting your time gambling, drinking with your friends. I cannot blame that, that your life".

He continue walk, "Don't wake me up, don't you ever wake me up!" Ardeth warned Jonathan, walking back to the cabin he'd share with him.

"I'd never tried! Maybe!" Jonathan scream as Ardeth figure slowly fading from his sight. He watch him. "Aye, I need more drink".

Several days later noon. Jonathan under the cover, snoring as he like. He didn't know bed beside him are empty. Moved his body left to the right. Jonathan struggling fighting over the cold weather, his body shivering and wanted to sleep more than this.

"Buggers this weather!" Grunting. He wrapped his body. "In the name of God let me sleep!"

In moment, he already hear the children's running on the corridor. Laughing, giggling and screaming voice of the little rascals.

Especially right front of his cabin door as he hear this.

"Ready or not, here I come!"

His deep sleep broke by the children's voice. His eyes widen after hear it. His sleeping eyes kick the cover by his bare feet but an sudden his legs began to cramp.

Shocking.

He don't know what to do. His eyes turn to empty bed where Ardeth occupied that bed. Thought he was there so he can help him with his legs.

Nothing he can hope for.

"Bloody menace mother of Mary my legs. Urgh!"

He rubs his legs. An sudden episode pain in the muscles of his legs he faced.

"Come one not now". Slide his hips up from bed, "Come on, work with me legs, come one".

Jonathan drag himself toward the door. His hand reaching the knob. "I've got it. WHOA!" He stumbled on the wood floor. "What on _!" He cursed.

Later that moment he reach the deck. Saw Ardeth back body standing capturing the view, hand on his back. He march toward him. Ardeth hear him from behind. The weather are cold and he can't take it anymore.

He walk and stood beside him. "Cramping legs?" ask Ardeth to him. "So noise".

"You tell me. It's cold in here, heaven you feel it?"

"Nah! I feel worst than this". He turn to Jonathan. "In moment you will see the nature that you won't forget".

"What kind of nature?"

Ardeth smile as his eyes up to the sun, then narrow his eyes at something shining reveal the city of Cairo, Egypt from far in noon. Jonathan eyes cannot believe it, how possible this boat sailed so fast than he didn't expected.

He wipe both of his eyes again and again until he satisfied that what he sees now is the real city of Cairo, Egypt stood right in front of his eyes, it wasn't the heat wave apparition, it's the real thing happen now.

"How?" He ask himself.

"Bless from Allah, he simplify make our journey easier than you expected".

Ardeth smile, wrapped his arm around Jonathan shoulder. "Welcome back to the mainland of Egypt where the journey always begin with".

Has the boat reach the shore. Both men Ardeth and Jonathan touch their feet on the ground. The shore are crowded with people as usual and of course it's still daylight, people are like to travel somewhere place they like.

Ardeth look around searching for something and that, the warriors greet him.

"How's the boy?" ask Ardeth in Egypt.

"He's trying to accept the faith that he belongs to us. He didn't try to hurt us or himself".

Ardeth nod understand. "The creature?"

"On progression. We saw her earlier. They lived around the black market".

"Keep an eyes on that creature. If he moves, we moves".

They now separated. The warriors went to other way, Ardeth and Jonathan take a cab straight to Dr. Bey museum. The cab stop, Jonathan look out the window.

"This is Evy working place. Dr. Bey".

"We must see him first."

From Dr. Bey office, he saw Ardeth and Jonathan from his window. Knowing what brought these men in his museum middle on this noon. He walk towards the corridor then to the main enterance at downstairs, he waited them.

"He like to yell all his workers that include my sister".

"You know Evelyn before me. Of course you know the reason why Dr. Bey did that. What cause of that between her and him, I don't want to hear".

He open the door. "His the only person who can help a little before we return to Hamunaptra". He look over his shoulder, where Jonathan walk behind him. "Stop complaining".

"I'm not complaining it just _"

"Dr. Bey". said Ardeth as he saw Dr. Bey standing middle of the hall. The place are huge of course, so when they spoke there's a vibrate echoed waves around them. Ardeth stand. "Dr. Bey".

"Ardeth Bay". said Dr. Bey welcoming. "Mr. Carnahan, what an pleasant surprise to see you this noon. Care for lunch? I expect something from you both".

He walk. "Come".

Three of this man assembled around the tomb display of Seti I. Dr. Bey sits on Seti's throne.

"You two know each other?" ask Jonathan.

"Of course. We are part of an ancient secret society. For over three thousand years, we have guarded the City of the Dead. We are sworn at manhood to do any and all in our power to stop the creature from being reborn into this world."

Jonathan turn to Ardeth. "So Dr. Bey is your closes contact that you know we were there in Hamunaptra".

"Dr. Bey reach me as soon he know Evelyn found the maps which is lead to Hamunaptra, the city of the dead. She revive the creature and the creature trying to take over the world".

"Which you didn't said anything of being part of society _ whatever. Anything you want to tell me your secret before we're going to safe Evy".

He sat beside the pharaoh statue. "So how? How can we get her back".

Ardeth step foward. "Know this, this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep, and he will never stop". Breathe, his eyes on Jonathan.

"So, anything what we know how to send the creature back into the underworld before he consumes the earth and your sister".

"According to my sister, once this creature has been reborn, his cursed will spread and as he grows in strength. So, will his curse grow infecting the people until the whole of the earth is destroyed".

"Yes and who fault is that".

"It's everybody problem. It didn't feared of cat anymore".

Dr. Bey stare up on Jonathan. "That because he fully regenerated and then he will fear nothing. Don't tell me your sister purchasing a cat to protect her".

"She did". Ardeth snorts. "Because she think that cat could protect her from that creature. I was there, I'd just got back from London. Believe me she did".

Jonathan blinked, "So, what's the part of my sister past life with Imhotep".

"She's a reincarnated of the princess the creature had loved. Sure Ardeth told you about that".

Dr. Bey snickering. Ardeth shaking his head.

"And how the story end? He'd never stop calling Evy, Nefertiri".

"Because of what she are. She's the princess of Egypt the creature falling in love with. Highly educated woman whom married to Ramesses II after Imhotep died sentence by the Seti I himself. The pharaoh. Ramesses obsessed with his wife beauty so did Imhotep. An inspiration devoted toward one woman".

Dr. Bey slide his hips aside a bit. "Imhotep choose her. Certainly we cannot stop him but _ we must stop him".

"Sound not good, not good at all".

"Depends. Tonight is the night, the moon of Osiris show on us".

Both men look up, through the window we can see the sun which is now going into a full Eclipse.

"And he stretched forth his hand towards the Heaven, and there was a darkness throughout the land of Egypt".

Look down, "And you full of mystery man that me and Evy barely known."

"And you a drunken brother to whom I never think to understand what kind of you".

Jonathan rolled his eyes. "That moon scared me".

"It begun. Surely you understand".

"I don't care. I want my Evy back!"
