6 The Mourning

The rain kept pouring as new tears rolled down her pale cheeks. The dark circles under her eyes showed how many days she spent sleeping in the wee hours or none at all. But no one can see what she looked like. She covered her face with a thin layer of lace.

Her solemn aura radiated within the cemetery. Only a ladyguard in a black suit holding a black umbrella was with her in that hour of sadness. Nobody else. "Madame, you've been here for two hours. Your health may be compromised if we stay longer." She looked up in the gloomy sky when she heard the guard. "She was my bestfriend. Mourning for two hours will never be enough." She stood up before taking a last look at the gray stone with two baskets of fresh flowers side by side. The etched name will forever be a burden in her heart. Leticia Bernards. "They will pay for this." she hissed as she turned and her heels started click clacking on the pavement towards her black car.

"Where...is... my... wife?!" the whole building was startled shitless when the big boss arrived. His chest heaving with restrained anger. The redness of his face and clenched fist show how mad he is at the moment. He walked swiftly towards the guards and held their collars with his two hands. "Find her!" His eyes were brimming with tears of anger. He could see an ominous aura in the corner of the room. All the guards scrammed out of the office of the CEO.

"I'm sorry boss. We weren't good enough. You can punish us when we can't find your wife today." He said as he wipe the tears off his eyes.

"This act~ my wife goes missing... Somebody will pay for this."

The dark voice is menacing. The calmness of his tone is mysteriously dangerous as the CEO shifted his tie to adjust his breathing. He knows this guy in the shadows has been through hell and punishment for him could be considered as hell on earth. He rubbed his large tummy and went back to the CEOs seat to try and relax.

"B-boss... " his voice started cracking as his nervousness show. He was not the man who have just vented out his anger earlier on those guards. He saw the other man's scarred brow twitch as if something is about to happen.

"Mr. Stone, remember very well that I am not a man of patience."

As the man was about to show his face to Mr. Stone, the door suddenly opened with his secretary's scared face.

"Sir, T-the secretary of Stone Inc. is here. I-it's about your wife,"

"Send her in!" he roared. Knowing fully that they better get to the bottom of the issue that Mrs. Stone is missing.

Behind the secretary, a slender woman cloaked in dark romper and black vest with white heels went inside his office nonchalantly.

The clicking of her heels is too familiar with the CEO and he knew the temper of this slender woman. Her black hair was loose today with some strands astray on her frame. She was holding a black suitcase and her lips never curved into a smile while greeting him.

"Good morning Mr. Stone. I am here to represent my boss in our company. No need to scare your secretary away."

She glanced at the man behind the CEO. That dark gloomy aura seemed emanate from that man and not the CEO himself. "Where is she?" he asked in a hurry. Maia looked at him straight in the eye.

"Mrs. Stone has been killed a week ago. I don't think people here need to know of this matter. Shall we talk privately?"

Vlad took a quick glance at the man behind him. When Daemon nodded and left the room, he sighed in relief.

"Tell me... what happened." he closed his eyes trying to remember the face of his chubby little wife smiling when he got home. It was a picture he would never see again. And he felt his heart ache even if their marriage was just for business purposes, he liked this little wife of him. He was always waiting to see her when he goes home and five years of their marriage has made him comfortable being around her.

Maia made sure to tell the dark details of the incident to Vladymone Stone. She knew how influential this businessman is in the black market. He could pull a few strings to solve what has happened.

"This... this is not the first time the Madame was targeted. I do hope you could help solve this case and put an end to this issue. The company has been in chaos since our CEO has disappeared. The media doesn't have to know this too. It will create a greater chaos." She was determined to keep this a secret for now.

"Whoever did this... will suffer in hell." He cast his eyes at the door knowing who is behind it is listening intently to the conversation.

Maia bit her lip and looked straight out the window of the CEOs office. 'It is time,' she thought to herself. "Mr. Stone, the company she left-"

"Excuse me Sir. Sorry to interrupt but there is an emergency at the A13 District, we need to go now." Both of them looked at the man from the front door.

The interruption was abrupt and Mr. Stone stood up quickly. "Maia, give me all the details in a report later at the Villa. I know some people who could help us with this." He disappeared behind Daemon a few seconds later.

"Daemon," she called out to him. "Take care of him, he is the last relative Mrs. Stone had." She looked irritated as she spoke. A corner of his lips curved into a devilish smile adding to his evilish charisma. "Yes Ma'am , I will take care of Mr. Stone." he sarcastically pronounced Mr. Stone as if hinting at something which confused her.
