11 Doubts

'Again?'

She thought of the familiar scene. She was inside her room in her own small Villa. Maia scanned the room without getting up. Her body felt heavy under the covers. Her bones ache as if she was drugged. 'Drugged' the word screamed inside her head. She instantly sat up and found the world twirling around her.

"Ahhh!" she shouted as she grasped the sheets tightly and closed her eyes.

She heard heavy thundering footsteps behind her door.

A large warm hand reached up her head and hand while everything else was spinning. "Careful." Just that word made her feel comfortable.

"Daemon... " She heard him chuckle. His infamous chuckle that she is now getting used to. "How... " She couldn't put into words what she felt now or how she got home with him around... again.

"Master, the results are in." She heard another voice while her eyes are closed.

"Give me some soup and tea,"

"I haven't declared yet in public that I will assume my position as Mrs. Stone, and yet this happens." She flipped her black wavy hair on the side. The woman standing behind her desk just stood their motionless.

Maia looked at the short haired woman in a black suit. "The news could have been leaked already. I could ask Mr. -"

"Don't. Just don't ask Daemon. He could be or he might also not be my real husband. That is yet to be investigated and what happened during our wedding day."

"But your partners are targeting you now. They obviously want the CEO position."

"I don't know him." Her answer was as clear as day. Daemon is another stranger to her. Whether he is her real husband or not is still a question. She haven't even taken her revenge on the death of the previous Mrs. Stone, and they are already giving her more problems.

"Farrah," Maia called the woman in front of her.

"Yes Madame,"

"Call the two local stations here for tomorrow's press conference. Schedule it in the morning."

"Yes Madame." Farrah immediately went out of the office and called people on her mobile.

"Sir, Miss Maia seems to be a strange girl to be the real Mrs. Stone. She doesn't look like the stone cold lady as her legend suggests in this region." a man in his mid-fifties with balding head said in a table of four people including him. The room was well-lit and wide with minimal decorations in the windows and walls. The room was over-all a modern day office located in a secret place within the city.

"She might or might not be whom we have been looking for. But I will take my chances. " calmly stated by the man sitting opposite on the opposite side.
