1 Chapter 1

Alex could hear the burning of wood, she could see the fire eating their home, she could smell the smoke coming out, and she could taste the smoke surrounding her. However, not one word can describe what she could possibly feel inside.

An 8-year old girl doesn't deserve to experience this. Perhaps nobody does. Her innocence about the world was taken for granted as the corrupt law enforcers closed the case, even with the girl's testimony that her father's life and family was threatened by some men the night before the fire.

The girl was sent to a new home and a new place. In the first few days and weeks in her new family, she struggled to eat as she didn't have any appetite.

Mr. and Mrs. Mizor were kind enough to understand her situation for they once lost their son before he was even born. This was an event that healed each other.

Years passed, she's now a young adult. The pain of the past had gradually decreased over the years. It almost felt like a simple nightmare to her now.

They are currently celebrating her 18th birthday at a hotel. It turns out Mr. and Mrs. Mizor can be described as 'comfortable' couple. No doubt since they are co-founders of Fitz company.

Alex is having fun at her party. She's on the dance floor with her friends enjoying the beat of the music. She suddenly urged the need to go to the bathroom so she headed there.

At the entrance, a strange man in a black coat wearing a mask and a cap appeared before her. He suddenly showed a video of a man sneaking into a house then a few seconds later went out already, then an explosion occurred. Her eyes were opened wide and realized that the house was her former home.

"Who are you!" She yelled but the music was so loud.

She looked into the blue eyes of the stranger. I said "Who are you!" She yelled another. Then the door of the bathroom flung open blocking the view of each other.

"Alex! Let's go! Enjoy your birthday!" a friend put her arms around her.

Alex immediately closed the door and saw that the stranger disappeared.

"What's wrong?" Her friend asks

She calms herself down. "Yeah. I'm fine." She assured her friend.

"Well then, let's go!" Her friend pulls her towards the dance floor.

What had happened confused Alex. The video brought her back into the past. She's undeniably curious about what had happened.

"Sweetie, what's wrong?" asks her mother.

The party was finally over and they are heading home. Alex looked out the window and she's still deep in thought.

"Alex?" called her mother again.

"Y-yeah?" she looked at her mom.

"Everything alright?" she looks Alex with worry.

"Uh yeah. I'm good. I- uh had fun." She tried to smile.

Her phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulls out her phone and saw a text from an unknown number.

The events of the past still linger in the present. Tomorrow, 8 am at the Nigoti cemetery. Go alone.

– Unknown Number -

What the hell? she thought.

"Dad." Alex saw her father eating breakfast at the dining room. "Mark said he'll be having another party for me. So I'll be staying at their house for the night." Alex said.

"You two better not do something that would make me kill Mark." Said her dad.

"Yeah yeah. I'm mature enough to not do something stupid." She smiled and hugged her father.

She sits with her dad at the table and eats her breakfast.

What happened last night didn't make her sleep much. She keeps on thinking whether she'll go or not, but after hours of eyes wide open, she decided to go.

"You had fun last night, sweetie?" asks her mom.

"Uh yeah. I had fun. Especially the part Dad stumbled and almost fell the cake." I smiled

"Almost. So no harm done." Said her dad.

The family talked about random stuff and led to business talk.

"Alex, why don't we go to the office and maybe see some designs for your office." Said her Dad.

"My office?" she raised a brow. "Wait. MY OFFICE!?" she widened her eyes. "You're serious!? I'll finally have my OWN office?" she exclaimed.

"Yeah, since I know you have been working hard, it's probably time." Her dad smiled.

She stood up and hugged her parents. She said her thanks a million times.

She suddenly remembered her meeting with the stranger. "Oh, I need to go somewhere first." She said

"Where to?" her mom asks

"Uh, just to prepare?" she smiled. "Bye Dad! Bye Mom!" then she left.

At the cemetery, she looked around and no one was there. She looked at the time and it was 15 minutes passed 8. What a punctual man, she thought sarcastically. She looked around the graves. It was the first time she had been in the cemetery. She just passed by but never really entered.

She pulled out her phone from and used an application, she then placed back her phone in her pocket. She looked around and put on her hood.

A man suddenly appeared and walked towards her. He was wearing a mask and a cap again. Alex looked at the stranger's eyes. It's the same blue eyes, she thought.

She crossed her arms, not wanting to say anything.

"Hmm. Not saying anything, are we?" The stranger threw something at her. She caught it and saw a flash drive. She knitted her brows.

"It contains the things you must know. For now." The stranger looked at Alex from head to toe, then looked at her pocket.

"You're recording? That's low." He spoke. He tried to reach her pocket, but she defended her self.

Her self-defense classes are starting to pay off. She pulled the stranger hands and elbowed his chins. She kicked his feet and the stranger fell to the ground. She quickly run away and went to a nearby cafe.

She catches her breathe and took a seat. She keeps cursing in her mind on what the hell was that. She took out her phone and opened an application.

'Voice match not found.' Appeared on the screen. She knitted brows. What in the hell is wrong with this app, she thought.

A message appeared from another unknown number.

That was hilarious! Although it hurt my brother's pride, it was entertaining. There's nothing wrong with your voice recognition app, I just put a temporary interference. Anyway, just looked into the files he gave you. Don't show it to your boyfriend, or any one. Or else.

-Unknown Number-

Who are these people! She thought. How did they know about my app? Questions filled her up.

A few minutes later, Mark showed up. Alex waved at him.

"So what's up? Here." He gave her a bag and took the seat in front of her. "Why do you need my laptop?" He asked.

"I just want to see something." She replied.

"Did you order already?" he asks

"Just coffee." she said and opened the laptop.

"Ok. I'll order something." He called a waitress and ordered some pancakes.

"So, what happened last night? You went from hyper Alex to moody Alex." Mark said

Alex didn't look at Mark. She simply said she suddenly wasn't feeling well.

"Oh, can I ask you something? Who's John?" Mark suddenly asked.

"John?" Alex knitted her brows and looked at Mark. "John who?"

"The one you talked to last night. Well, the security said this John guy came during the middle of the party. He wasn't even on the list of guests but he showed he have the invitation. So the security thought they have a problem with the printed list so they just let him enter. But after just a few minutes, he left. I saw the security cameras, and I think, he just talked to you about something, and just left?" Then Mark started to eat his breakfast.

"What?" Alex ask

"Uh yeah. Since nothing bad happened at the party, I just let the matter drop. I simply asked you about this John because I never met guy." Mark said. "So who was that guy?"

"John? I talked to a person named John?" she asked confusingly.

"Yeah. I saw the cameras that showed you two talked near the bathroom. The security informed me of this matter since they checked the whole guest list and the only John on the list is our buddy Johnny." Noticing that Alex doesn't really know the other person, Mark knitted his brows.

John? That's his name, huh? Why do I get the feeling I know him? Alex is thinking it through.
