19 Special Chapter: Lark POV (part 3)

Today marked day three since that day in the forest- that day everything was going we- well not 'well' considering that Sirius fainted due to excess blood loss, I was walking through the castle walls my brain keeping that day's event strong in my mind and I kept reliving them, and I was irritated with the Royal Doctor as well… He said Sirius should be up 'soon', how soon or long was 'soon'!! By now I was pretty sure he had no clue what was happening or when exactly would he be up and so gave a vague answer just to save his neck. I clenched my hands in anger and to keep my self-control and stop myself for chocking the truth out of the man. I wanted to kick myself for not realizing that he was more hurt than he said so. I can only hope that he wakes up soon- Gods I'm beginning to hate that word now… 'soon'.

I should go to him; I won't be able to fall asleep if I go to mine either way.

I softly push his door open as I wondered why I even did that, Sirius probably wouldn't wake up if I bang it open, I heaved a sigh and just shut the door and turned to go sit beside him. I nearly froze when I saw Sirius sitting up, I rushed towards him whispering "Si-Alec?" the whole argument of that day came to me again, I was shocked, confused, surprised I wasn't sure anymore but, one thing I was sure about was that I was glad he was awake again. "I'm awake. And call me like usual, 'Alec' is not supposed to exist here anyways." He said back, I noticed the slight waver in tone and frowned. If he didn't like it why say it? But before I could say anything he asked, "Can you get me some water?" I nodded quickly deciding to let it go and rushed to get him a glass from the table nearby. When he was done, he questioned again, "So, what happened after I passed out?" I knew the question would come soon, but that didn't mean I wanted to answer it.

"I heard you call out my name as you passed out and that sacred me, I thought you were dying. That you lost more blood and were more gravely injured that I thought. I tried to finish the fight quickly but he was strong, I was injured as well so it made the fight all the more harder. I got a chance that helped finish the fight and I rushed you as I fast I could back to the palace. As soon as we were in the maids immediately got informing the doctor and the family. The doctor checked over you after cleaning the blood off. When he was done, he informed us you'd be fine except for some scaring on your back and shoulder. The reason you fainted was due to the pain and blood loss and that you would be up soon. This was two days ago."

"I think the doctor needs to change his perception of 'soon'." Sirius grumbled, a small smile made its way on my lips as I thought the same during these days and then remembering the incident after made me scoff out, "He's fired."

"FIRED!! Why!?"

"Oh, your Father was angry that you were hurt and then the 'soon' wasn't exactly soon so that was it for him and he had the doctor fired just this morning." Something I glad for and yet not very happy with it either, tis was one of the reasons I could choke the life of him out for being so useless…

"And nobody stopped him?"

"....they were ready to torture him for potentially killing you." I shrugged, "Your Father was the merciful one." Honestly, I was on their side. He should pray that I should never appear in front of him in the future, I wouldn't guarantee his safe return… if he does return that is.

Sirius slapped his forehead and I was slightly concerned about what he did, I've never seen anyone do something so odd before, then he asked, "What else happened while I was knocked out?"

"'Knocked out'???" I repeated, unsure what those words really meant. Maybe it is from this other world he spoke about? "Oh god…" he groaned, "While I was as sleep Lark."

"Ahhh, well nothing you need to worry about." I hoped he'd let t go with that and we continued to talk for a while until he was too tired to continue and drifted back to sleep again, I smiled at him glad that he would be resting some more I said that I was going to stay for a while more and he yawned in reply dozing off. I continued to stare at him, glad that he was finally awake and it seemed like other than being tired and some pain from his recovering wounds he was fine, he would need to be careful for a few days so that he can heal properly. I noticed that even a slight jostle would have him wincing in pain though he tried to not make it obvious.

I was woken up when I felt someone shake me, I opened my eyes to see the sunlight filtering in and Ares in front od me a hand on my shoulder, I glanced up at him as he said, "You should be resting properly in your room Lark." He chided lightly I smiled up at him seeing the dark circles under his eyes a sign that he wasn't really sleeping properly either, I looked around him to see Raven and their parents here too. The King and Queen sat on the bed beside Sirius, studying him gently and worryingly looking for sign of any deterioration of his health like they did every morning I grinned glad to have some news that would give everyone here some peace and relief, "Your Majesties, he woke up during the night."

The second the words left my mouth that all turned to him in shock, wondering if I was really telling the truth probably. I was going to reassure them that it really did happen when we heard a faint mumble, "It's too bright… god…" he blinked he's eyes to get the used to the light and them looked at all of us in turn. He tried to sit up, so I immediately reached out to supported him; he rolled my eyes at me saying, "I'm not dying yet. I can move on my own."

I'm pretty sure I froze, the joke was a little too soon after what we went through and I think I heard the Queen choke on a sob and Sirius sighed realizing what he said and the effect of his carless joke, "Mother, don't cry please. I meant that I'm alright now." I stayed silent as the family asked him questions making sure he was really alright and not hurting more than he should, of course he was ordered complete bed rest until further notice. The entire day someone or the other was always in his room just in case he needed something or in case something happened. I tried to be there as long as I could and as much as I could, I couldn't help but worry otherwise. The moment he wasn't in my sights a thousand 'what if' thoughts rushed through my head, 'what if he's in pain and can't do anything', 'what if he needs something but nobody is around to help', 'what if he's hungry or thirsty', 'what if someone attacks him and he can't defend himself'; with thoughts like that I couldn't calm down and carelessly did what I had to rushing back as fast as I possibly could to check on him.

It was later in the day with a rush of flying skirts and clicking heels did a storm named- Lady Celeste Luminosa, burst into the room. She went straight to Sirius give him a big and probably painful hug, I smile and made my way outside to let them talk for a while alone.

I was preparing to get some tea and snacks for the two of them when Celeste came over saying that Sirius was calling for me. As we walked the way back she kept staring at me but wasn't saying anything so I stopped, turned around and asked instead, "Is something the matter Miss Celeste?"

"Why did you lie about what happened?"

At first, I stared at her confused about what she was talking about before it hit me, they must have spoken about everything that happened, Oh Gods, I forgot about it all, "I should be punished for negligence and not protecting His Highness anyway, it wouldn't matter." I answered and ended our conversation and continued on our way. I doubt she would agree with my reasonings but didn't say anything probably because she knew Sirius would have something to say anyway, I wish I could say with full confidence that he would accept what I said a minute or two back but I honestly doubt. When we reached the doors, I was stalling I knew as I just stood there. I would have to go in sooner or later I was just delaying the inevitable, "I'll go to see Raven, while you and Sirius work this out." Celeste said softly and turned away, I sighed and thought, no use just standing around, best get it over with.
