4 Books of mystery and magic

"Alright Lucifer," I close my laptop and put it on the coffee table. "You need to get up so I can start my day, maybe find this woman I can't get out of my head." He just looks up at me like I'm stupid for even saying it, let alone try finding her.

"Don't give me that look," I pick him up as I stand and carry him to the bedroom. "You know I have to try something. I can't just let this chick be stuck in my head forever. I have to do something." I mumble the last part more to myself.

I set Lucifer down on the bed and lay out the weapons I'll be taking with me. Then I head to my closet, my attire is black or other dark colors. I choose a pair of dark blue jeans, a black tank, and my favorite black combat boots with black socks. I decide to have a quick shower since I very much needed one. After getting dressed and making sure my weapons are secure in their holsters Ihead towards the door, grabbing my keys from the hook. There aren't many monsters who care to be out during the day, it's easier for them to hunt at night considering their victims are mostly drunk tourists or college students but I've learned to always be prepared. Although I hunt and kill them, I sometimes envy them. These monsters have no soul or anything human, except their looks. I envy them because they aren't bound, in some way, to protect the very beings that would think them crazy for who they are or send them to a mental ward as a child because they're different. They don't feel they are responsible for protecting those who would reject them.

Myself on the other hand, feels like my role in all of this, whatever it may be, is to protect the very people who would have me hanged or burned at the stake for what I am if the times were different. I pet Lucifer one last time before I leave and start another lonely day, just as I have since I left the ward at 12. For some reason though, today seems to be lonelier than usual.

Before I even realized where I was headed, I come back to reality and look up to see a sign that reads, 'Books of Mystery and Magic' hanging off the door of a little shop. I've never even been to this part of town since what I hunt tends to stick to the shadows of the bars and clubs for easy prey. I look up and down the street to see if I recognize anything, unfortunately, I don't. The other patrons don't seem to even notice me or my lost look.

Slowly I open the shop door and try to quietly step in, only to be given away by the chimes above the door. I cringe at the sound, cursing myself for not noticing it.

"I'll be right with you, feel free to browse around. We have just about anything you can think of and some things you wouldn't." A voice called from the back, around a tall shelf of books.
