85 Chapter 85

"Me?" I ask in complete confusion, "What do you mean, me?"

"Alright listen," he says and leans in close, not invading my personal space but closer than he was, "you're human, or so we think."

"So we think?" I repeat his words still confused and he sighs.

"Just listen to me," he says and I nod over the hard beating of my heart, "your humanity is questionable at the moment Crystal. No human should be able to exhibit such wonders that you have shown. From your hair tuning black, to white along with the ice stunt you pulled leaves us all confused and just as we're trying to figure things out, other kingdoms have concluded that you're not an ordinary creature."

He pauses to take in my reaction but I doubt I have it in me to give any as my face stays blank and mind racing. What in seven hells is he talking about?! My humanity questionable? This is just insane. I've been human all my life and the only super power I've ever exhibited is my special juggling ability. I've always known how to juggle anything since I was a little kid but that's it, that's where my talent or anything special stops. I'm just your typical average girl, not super intelligent or anything. I've always been an average human girl.

"When Sean brought you in," he continues, "it piqued the people's anger alot and it also piqued the interests of other kingdoms. They wanted to know what this kingdom had with bringing in humans and with everything that's happened, they think you're the source of our powers or at least, a powerful being that could help them reach a certain height against us."

"So they want me alive." I say and he nods mouthing 'they do'.

"And what do you think?" I ask and he raises an eyebrow for me to explain my question.

"About me not being an ordinary human and their silly speculations, what do you think?"

"Well," he relaxes his back on the chair, "I do know that you're not ordinary anymore but if it's due to the ritual or if it's your nature, I have no idea."

"But the ritual doesn't give powers," I say, "it only fortifies and enhances."

"Exactly," he says smiling, "which makes me want to believe their so called silly speculations."

"Humans," I say hoping to get valid information from him, "I've come to learn that I'm not the first human Queen to rule here."

"You are," he says and I frown, "you're the first human queen but not the first human ruler."

"What do you mean?"

"He was a king." He says in a dramatic whisper and my eyes widen both in surprise and bewilderment.

"You're definitely clueless about the world you live in Crystal." He chuckles and I look away, trying to understand and process this new information.

"I'll make a deal," he says and I look back at him immediately, "I'll answer your questions and in return, you owe me."

"Owe you what?"

"When the time comes, I'll let you know but from now," he says seriously for the first time, "you're indebted to me."

This could be my only chance at finding out everything I need to know or at least, most of it. I can't lose this chance for anything and his offer is quite generous, I guess. His request can't be so bad, I hope.

"Deal?" He puts out his hand for me to shake with a wide grin plastered on his face.

"Deal." I take his hand and he smiles even wider. If we are to wait for now, I'd make the most of the time.

"Tell me," I say, "who are you?"

"This was the first question you asked at the library and I gave a pretty clear answer." He says and I suddenly remember he told me his name, I just can't remember what the name was.

"Care to remind me?"

"I can't believe you forgot so soon," he says with exaggerated hurt in his voice making me almost smile, almost. "Damien."

"Oh," he says and I remember it clearly immediately. Why did I forget? Well, that's not the point now, "well Damien, would you mind telling me about this human king?"

"That's a pretty long story." He says and I glare at him immediately making him chuckle a bit and raise both hands up in surrender.

"Fine," he sighs and adjusts his position so that he's looking at me comfortably, "he ruled years ago and he is one reason why this kingdom hates humans so much. The people of this kingdom are wired to hate humans naturally but he came and made it worse, gave them a reason to hold on to."

"What did he do?"

"A lot," he responds, "took advantage of his position and oppressed the people. Ofcourse, he had no powers but his pillar was one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful so no one dared hurt him. It went on this way for quite a while until he crossed his limits and had to leave."

"Leave?" I asked and he nods.

"I don't really know much details about that but rumors has it that he was cursed and sent back to earth."

"Cursed by who? His pillar?"

"You're catching on."

"And who was this powerful pillar?"

"Queen Crystal," he smirks, "Sean's mother."
