1 Awakening Chapter 1

Drip… Drip... Drip…

A cool sensation ran over me as I calmly rested in the cool darkness.

I floated, silently contemplating, thinking, dreaming… Trying to understand why I was here, why I was alive, even thinking at all. But it was useless, I could not feel nor understand. I felt lost and broken, like I was forgetting an old friend, maybe something more. There was nothing I could do. But suddenly... I came to terms with myself; here, now… it did not matter, I was somewhere and understood that I was me, whether I was beast, monster, or human.

Thinking this I saw… or, maybe heard something new. It wasn't the cool damp liquid the so peacefully flowed. It wasn't the soothing silence that rocked me in my sleep, covering what I believed to be everything, in bliss. This new thing was…

*Ding* "DC has become self aware!!! Connecting to the catalog…

Estimated time taken - 5 minutes"

(Sigh) This new thing was an ear piercing noise that broke through my calm collected brain that was oh so used to the cradling of the dark could only be called most annoying voice in… wherever I am. Even something like me could tell this thing is assuming my race. Honestly, what in the world is a DC…

Well....

Are you gonna tell me? I'm getting bored here; if your going to break the silence at least say something actually important! ...I'm going to sleep.

*5 minutes later*

*Ding* " Congratulations user for connecting to the web, refer to the terms and conditions for more information"

What in the world are...

*Ding* " User may connect to the web to get a complimentary reward!"

How…

*Ding* "To connect to the web say Open Dungeon Menu"

I am slightly unnerved, thinking that this will lead to a huge personality change by preventing any thought of laziness that I have, but I still quietly mumble, "Open Dungeon Menu" Surprisingly, I find myself incapable of sight and in the place of my humble abode lies a blue window of great proportion

Dungeon Menu

Mana - 10/100 Dp -0

1.Summon

2.Unlock

3.Manage

4.Build

5.New Option 100 DP

Though I cannot read whatever these symbols are, I've got a pretty good idea of what has been given to me. Namely a way to protect myself from… whatever gets in my way. Though despite the misgivings I may have, pressing buttons is the path to glory.

As such, I hurriedly click what would be the first act in my road to eternal dominance. When the button is pressed, the box in front of me starts to morph to better suit its purposes and as it changes my hopes rise slowly but surely. I imagine what sort of beast might best fit me. As the box goes through its last squirms my excitement peaks while the box reveals…

Summon

As support for a new Dungeon Core we pride ourselves in randomly selecting 2 basic monster unlocks for your new dungeon. Make your roll brave one

As any sensible creature would, I press more buttons leading to another morph of the box in which afterwards began to look like a furry, fluffy, probably ceramic cat with an unnaturally large arm sticking out of it and some sort of wheel for a chest. Letting my urges get a hold of me I stick an imaginary arm out and pull the claw till the wheel stops.

*Ding* "Congratulations! Dungeon Core has unlocked Spiders and Rats."

I guess… I'm a Dungeon Core, whatever that is. But, anyway… We can use this. Mwahahahahahuhu huu cough cough.

After a mild coughing fit and slight sadness over the lack of a dragon unlock (Despite not knowing what a dragon is, I just know it's good) I continue into the menu and recite an overly dramatic chant for no reason at all

By the power of the great dungeon core (of no particular name), beseech the powers of this world and the energy of the universe itself, align myself with the void, spread my roots into the nirvana and in my name call upon a scourge of this earth!

SUMMON SPIDER!!!!

After which a rather plain looking circle appears on the ground and a rather large fanged friend crawls out from the earth followed by swarms of spiders when I realize that; One, my peace and quiet will be forever gone (as well as what little mana I had), and two, I forgot the slight problem of space management before my mana was gone and now only have a large hallway exists to put the spiders in rather than a room. Well… Trouble for another day.
