Two

"So, what do you think of Lucas?"

It is Lunch break and we're currently at the hospital cafeteria eating. It was one of our co-worker, Annie, who asked that question.

"Who?" Nika asked while continuously stuffing her face with food.

"Lucas, the new hired!"

"That emo kid?"

Annie laughed and nodded. "Yeah, him."

"He's smart. And I like him. All of our exposures are one take. It's like he has an x-ray vision or something."

"Really? I was at CT-Scan this whole time so I haven't met him yet. What about you, Lucas? How is he?"

"Just like Nika said, he's smart. We had a VA earlier and we did it fast. I was actually thinking we would repeat a lot of times since it's a heavy accident but everything went smoothly."

"Woah. Really? If only he's not gloomy, noh?"

Nika nodded in agreement. "I wonder if he still sleeps. I mean, his eyebags are scary! It makes me want to make him sleep his entire duty."

"Maybe he has another work?" I said because what could be another reason he's lacking sleep?

"How? This work is already toxic and he still has the energy to have another work?!" Annie exclaimed, almost shouting at us.

"It's only a guess and keep your voice down."

"You think he's brokenhearted?" Nika suddenly blurted out. We stared at her in confusion. "If it does not work, then it must be his love life, right?"

"Oh. I get what you mean. He hasn't moved on yet that's why he's like what he is right now."

Nika shook her head while having the spoon she was holding up in the air. "That must be one hell of a breakup, huh?"

"Stop prying into his life, you two. It's not good." I can't help butting in and stopping them. For sure, Lucas won't like it if he hears that his co-workers are making assumptions about his life. "He's just new here, give him some break."

"Still, it can't be helped that I find him creepy and gloomy. He should lighten up a bit, you know, be a little more professional here at work."

We stand up now and after cleaning our table, head outside with Nika and Annie still talking about Lucas. Poor Lucas.

" Yeah, and as Sir Glenn says, don't bring your problems at work as it may affect your performance," Annie added. I just shook my head. They're really taking this way too seriously.

I felt shivers down my spine as I think someone is behind us. I slowly turned my head a little to see if there is someone and there really is one.

Our subject of gossip.

And for sure, he heard everything.
