Chapter 3: Chase, The Bastard

The soft white clouds overcast the sky, making the land of France look particularly gloomy.

Avery takes a taxi back home — not like I call that place home, more like hell. The word anxious is written all over her face. She didn't even notice that she is missing one of her sketches. When Avery arrive home, a man 'warmly' greeted her, with his short raven hair, a pair of soft chocolate eyes, and a good build. Anyone can confidently say he is a handsome man and an affectionate husband. This man is Chase — Chase Alquiza.

Chase gave Avery a gentle hug and it takes Avery with all her willpower to not gag in disgust. Avery fiercely pushed away causing the man to stumble.

"Av—"

Chase was cut off by Avery's fierce glare and exclamation.

"Where is my daughter??!!!!"

In a matter of seconds, his affectionate appearance was gone like it was just an illusion, his face contorted and his brown eyes darken like there is a layer of a dark storm brewing in that orbs.

(WARNING: VIOLENCE & R*PE)

Avery receive a slap, so strong that Avery fell to her butt. It was conspicuous in Avery's fair face, a big red handprint on the left side of her cheeks. Avery felt a stinging sensation in her cheeks and subconsciously stretch out a hand to touch it, it burn and stings. Avery glared daggers at Chase and hold back her tears that are threatening to fall.

'I will never shed tears in front of him! Never! Never again!!'

Chase and Avery have been married for 5 years. Chase loves Avery but Avery can't return those feelings. Not because Chase is not good enough but Avery can't see Chase in a romantic light. The first years of their marriage were good, they were happy and content. There is no violence, just them a married couple that lack intimacy. Chase never forces Avery to do anything that Avery is against.

He loves Avery since high school but Avery never notices Chase. The only reason they got married is because of an accident on the pretext of 'they were too drunk and things happen' but it was far from the truth.

Avery didn't know where did it go wrong or what happen but things started going downhill when Rheanna — their first and only daughter is 3 years old. Chase started cursing profanity at Avery whenever he came back from work or Avery would do something that would displease him and from there Chase became more and more violent until he became what he is now — a hypocritical bastard.

They pretend to be a happy family outside but the interior is far from being a happy and perfect family as they were described to be.

Avery is still on the floor glaring fiercely at Chase. Chase stared back with a malicious smile plastered on his face and an unconcealed shrewdness on his eyes. When Chase took a step forward, a small stature came from out of nowhere and stood in front of Avery, in a posture that seem to be blocking and protecting her.

"I won't let you hurt Mama!!"

A childish voice shouted, the owner of this voice barely reach the height of the waist of her bastard of a father yet the childs' moist smokey grey eyes glowed with stubborn persistence and determination.

Chase saw her daughter protecting her mother and click his tongue.

"Get out of my way, you brat!"

"Never! I will never let you hurt mama!"

The little girl retorted and held back her tears. Avery saw her daughter standing up for her and was moved but she persuaded her daughter not to intervene.

"Baby, Rhea, Mama is fine. You go back to your room okay?"

"No!"

Avery persuaded Rheanna to go back to her room and hide but the little girl stubbornly refuse. She doesn't want her mother to get hurt. Rheanna is old enough to understand that her father is abusing her mother. Chase is still standing and watching the mother-daughter pair with boredom. Not taking it anymore. She grabbed the little girl's petite arm and said.

"Listen to your mother and go back to your room!" Chase sternly said

Rheanna began to struggle out of Chases' grasp but what can a little girl do against the strength of the fully grown-up man. Avery also help her daughter but only got violently slapped stronger than before in return. Avery groans in pain. Rheanna who witnesses it, bite Chases' forearm and runs towards her mothers' side.

Chase lost his patience and roughly grabbed the little girl and throw the child like a rag doll.

"Chassseee!! That's your daughter!!!"

After that action, Avery heard the wooden cabinet being moved and the sound of the broken glass. Avery widen her eyes and plan to check on her daughter but Chase grab her and throw her over his broad shoulder and began to carry her like a sack towards their room. Avery struggled vainly and Chase throw her in the bed and do some inexplicable things towards Avery.

"Stop. Please Stop, what are you doing? Eep...Ahn, stop... Chase! You bastard, stop... I need ah to check on Rheanna!"

Avery pleaded and did her best to stop herself from moaning but a few still escape from her throat. She continues to struggle and resist Chase even if she knew it was all in vain. She knows she cannot match Chase's strength especially Chase's workout twice or thrice a week but she can't just do nothing and allow this scumbug to violate her.

(End of the Warning)

— Riley's POV —

After the brief encounter, Riley leisurely spends her time at the cafe whilst ignoring the attention she gets from the other customers and enjoying the hustle and bustle outside the glass window. The book she is reading was set on the table and her coffee was half-full and her dessert half-eaten. Completely unaware of what is happening to the woman she bumped just now.
