Chapter 11st Mission: Lost But Not Forgotten

When I was nineteen years old I moved into a small cottage by myself. My name is Gabriana. I once served God, and believed that he had a purpose for me once but that was a long time ago. Only Heaven knows the rest of the story about what events led up to this in my life. Me, and my boyfriend Braxten had just broken up after he discovered that I lost my job. His exact words were this.

"What good is a woman if she doesn't work?" I recalled him saying.

Once he left me, my faith began to leave me as well. I didn't believe that a loving God could take away the love of my life. If he had really cared about me, Braxten would still be here by my side. I brought him anything and everything he asked of me, but without a job I had no value to him and once again I was alone and single.

We had been in a relationship for the last five years and I had big dreams of someday marrying him… That was nothing more than a fantasy by now. I would text him and call him everyday but he never answered any of them until one day I finally heard back from him.

"Hello Gabriana, are you there?" he asked.

"Braxten is that you? I miss you so much. Please come back to me. I need you back in my life," I said.

Braxten was quite irritated when he replied to the text.

"Gabriana, I've moved on and you should do the same. You are wasting both my time and your time with this nonsense of yours. I don't want anything to do with you. I am happier without you in my life. Don't you get it? I was only using you and now you have served your purpose," he said.

His harsh words stabbed me, crushing any hopes I had left. I threw my phone across the room and watched as it shattered to pieces. As the phone broke I left the pieces behind and for the first time in a long time. I felt a sense of peace overcome me after leaving the shattered pieces of the phone behind on the ground. I walked outside of my cabin and got into my vehicle and drove into town.

About a month ago I moved into a small town named Miracle Town. For the first time, I noticed the welcoming sign posted out front. It spoke something to me when I read over it.

"I sure could use a miracle myself right about now," I mumbled to myself.

After pulling up next to a small cafe called "Miraculous Coffee" I laughed to myself and stared at the sign post up front. I highly doubt any coffee could bring me the miracle that I have been searching for. After parking the vehicle near the entrance I entered the cafe anyway. While visiting a red haired lady from behind the counter approached me and asked to take my order.

"Hey, is there anything you want to try today cutie? By the way my name is Lysella" said Lysella as she smiled at me before pausing.

"Wait a moment. I don't think I've ever seen you around these parts. I know everyone that comes and goes from here but I don't think I know you. Please tell me who you are," said Lysella.

"I'm pleased to meet you. You may call me Gabriana. I've only been here for about a month and I don't really get out that often," said Gabriana as she laughed and replied.

"Don't worry about it neither do I. I also enjoy working from home. Anyway, what would you like to order today?" she asked.

"A large Mocha Latte would be nice," I replied.

"Okay coming right up and this one's on the house just to ensure that you will return.

Once her coffee was ready Gabriana walked away from her in order to find a quiet table to sit at. Suddenly a young man and a very handsome one walked towards her. He sat right across from her and began talking to her.

"Excuse me, I Hope you don't mind sharing a spot with me. This place is quite crowded today," said Blake.

Gabriana just nodded her head and smiled, showing him that she understood and that she was okay with that. The handsome man interrupted her thoughts of self pity and doubt.

"By the way, you can call me Pastor Blake Andrews," said Pastor Blake Andrews.

"It's nice to meet you. You can call me Gabriana. If you don't mind me asking, aren't you a little young to be a pastor? He was definitely an attractive sight to see and yet there was something else more graceful to him than his charm. I could feel something. It was the presence of something or someone coming from him. I felt the desire to confide in him. Instead I asked him a question.

"What brings a pastor like you to a small cafe like this? Did you come here for a Miracle yourself?" I asked.

Just like that he laughed at the question and said.

"My sister Lysella. I'm sure you have already met her. She makes it her job to know everyone that comes and goes from this town," said Pastor Blake Andrews.

After hearing that I smiled as I remembered how friendly Lysella was to me. Once Pastor Blake finished his coffee, the two of them waited for Lysella to go on break. Afterwards she joined them at the table.

"Hi bro, I haven't seen you since this morning. Gabriana, what are you still doing here! You already met my brother! Isn't he just the greatest. Well not greater than God of course but he is a close second if you ask me and he is still the best sibling a girl could ever ask for," said Lysella.

I felt a pang of pain hearing the very mention of God who I felt didn't care about my pain or even love me. Without thinking, I quickly got up, rushed to my car, and drove away. Back at my cottage, I decided in my heart that I would never return to that cafe and I didn't.

I didn't want to be friends with people who made me reflect on such things like an unloving God. While I thought these things in the depth of my heart. Tears began to fall as I tried to reason with myself. Before long I decided that being bitter and selfish towards the world was the only way to live. Two days later I returned to the cafe and was pleased to find no one there except Lysella.

"Hi Gabriana, I haven't seen you in a couple of days. Is everything alright with you? We missed you and became worried when you didn't return," said Lysella as I approached her.

Before long I found myself in another conversion with her as she began talking about church.

"I understand what it's like being the new girl in a small town. Would you be interested in joining me and my brother at church today?" asked Lysella.

As I gazed at her first I could see the hope on her face so pure and innocent. I didn't have the heart to refuse her offer left with only one choice at this point I responded.

"Sure and I would also like to apologize for my behavior the other day when I ran out of the cafe. I've been so angry at God after everything that has happened in the past month. It's like God and me have unresolved issues," I replied.

Lysella stood there quietly for a moment before giving her reply.

"Maybe you have unresolved issues with him. Please Gabriana join us at church today and leave those heavy burdens of yours at the foot of the cross. Maybe you will come to realize just how important you are to him and how much he truly loves you," said Lysella.

"You sure are quite confident that I will find what I'm seeking aren't you," I said.

"Not just confident I believe you truly will find what your heart has been yearning for if you attend tonight," said Lysella.

Before closing, Braxten walked into the cafe with a beautiful brunette girl in his arms. She had to be at least a size zero in jeans but her tiny frame did nothing to hide the curves she had. I panicked and turned towards Lysella before saying.

"Lysella, I can't face them," I said but it was too late.

They were already approaching me. I searched the immediate area for anywhere I could hide but it was already too late. He was standing right in front of me.

"Well if it isn't Gabriana, you shouldn't be stalking me," said Braxten as he stated it coldly.

The beautiful brunette standing next to him spook up when she heard that I was his ex-girlfriend.

"What kind of person would stalk their ex and follow him all the way out here? We know that she is single and that she still has feelings for you but come on does she really have to follow you all the way out here of all places?" asked Aston.

Lysella felt bad for just standing there quietly and watching as they tore apart her new friend in Christ.

"What can I do for the two of you? Aren't you Braxten and Aston I've heard about you on the radio," said Lysella.

Aston smiled, impressed that a small town girl would even know about them.

"Yes, I'll take a small Hot Cocoa with a side of no desperate ex girlfriends stalking us," said Aston as she stared in my direction.

I tried to defend herself but the words wouldn't come. As Lysella was fixing her coco, the front door opened and Pastor Blake Andrew entered. With a smile, he approached Gabriana.

"Hey beautiful. I missed you very much," said Pastor Blake Andrew.

Gabriana was shocked as he approached her moving in for a hug. Aston became angry and with a cold tone, she stated.

"Pastor Blake Andrew excuse my strength forwardness but are you really dating that slu-harlot? She is so dirty compared to your purity," said Aston.

"If I judge you by what life you have led, would that be fair to you? As a new creation, she can be pure white as snow. Jesus died so that we can be purified even though he was faultless. So it's of no concern to you if I have any romantic interest towards her. I can see that her heart is pure white," replied Pastor Blake Andrew.

With nothing left to say, Aston took Braxten by the hand and rushed out the front door, leaving her hot coco and money behind.

Lysella stood smiling victorious. Gabriana finally spoke.

"Pastor, I was rude to you before. I apologize for that and I'm … Thankful to you for being kind and standing up for me. I appreciate that," said Gabriana.

"All is forgiven and the truth is, I'd like to get to know you a little bit better. Lysella texted and asked me to assist the two of you. Regardless, she says you and her are going to church tonight and for that I'm grateful. I better leave so that I can get ready. See you there," said Pastor Blake Andrew and with a wave of his hand, he left Gabriana and Lysella to clean the cafe while he prepared for church service tonight.

Gabriana assisted Lysella by wiping the counters.

"So Lysella, thank you for asking your brother to help us. I was afraid and I couldn't find the right words to say," said Gabriana.

"Well if it helps… Braxten isn't anyone special. He never deserved someone like you in the first place. You obviously put too much into that relationship. You deserve a reward for everything you had to put up with instead of the disrespect he gave you," said Pastor Blake Andrew.

"Do you really believe that?" I replied as I held back my tears.

"I don't think so. I believe so and by the way, would you like to work here with me at the cafe? My brother owns this cafe as well as the church we are currently attending. We have been blessed very much over the past few years," said Lysella.

"Wow… I had no idea but yes, I would love to work here with you," said Gabriana.

"Consider yourself hired," said Lysella as Gabriana walked towards her and hugged her.

"Thank you very much," said Gabriana.

Gabriana dressed simply in a black skirt and a white button up shirt while Lysella wore a hot pink dress that stopped at her ankles. Both girls entered side by side into the church. Pastor Blake Andrew greeted them both with a handshake and a smile. His eyes seemed to light up when he saw Gabriana.

"I'm glad you could make it," said Pastor Blake Andrew as he greeted us both and held us tightly in his arms.

"Really? Or is it because last night affected you so much that you couldn't stand being around me?" "Don't flatter yourself, Snow. You didn't affect me at all." He smirked, stepping closer. "Is that so?" His fingers brushed my chin, tilting my face up. My pulse quickened. "We're at work," I snapped, swatting his hand away. "This isn't professional." "You're my wife," he murmured. "You're supposed to obey me at all times." I bit back a retort, a hint of rebellion flaring within. Slowly, I stepped closer, letting my fingers graze his chest. His smirk wavered for a second when his wolf reacted and Snow bit his lips. "Careful, Boss," I purred seductively. "Don't hurt those lips. I'm sure plenty of girls would love to kiss them." Snow leaned down, his lips brushing my ear. "And you? Are you dying for a taste?" Caught off guard, I hesitated, then regained my composure as I looked him in the eyes. "Unlike other girls, I have strong resistance against—" I didn't get a chance to finish when Snow's lips crashed onto mine with a fierce kiss that left me breathless. *************** MATURE CONTENT Participating in the Viral Book Call Contest.
