16 Triple Odds
Police sirens are wailing loudly. Investigators are scattered everywhere. A yellow band of restrictions is taped all over the area. The police appear to be investigating in an old shabby ramen shop.
They used a megaphone to mandate everyone around to stay at their home.
Although most of the neighborhoods are peaking through their windows to see what's going on.
Shortly, car stopped and a man with a short cut black hair wearing a black leather jacket comes out of the car.
He went towards the guarding men and shows his badge I.D. as a credit of his intents. He introduced himself as Naomasa Tsukauchi a local detective. After a brief inspection, they made a salute and Naomasa responded with a salute as well. They let him in the yellow border and he was met by an orange colored cat headed officer wearing a bulky bulletproof vest over a blue long sleeve.
He was escorted in the shop. Upon walking, Naomasa asked for details of the situation.
"The victim died from extreme level of injuries; organ failures, bone breakage, and lost of blood. It was reported from the neighbors that they heard him scream from agony for a moment. There were no witnesses except for a few people who heard him scream. They did not bother to check instead call for the authorities immediately" the cat stated
They arrive in the second floor of the building and a dead body is laying on the floor. Lifeless and have few number of injuries but severe impacts of blunt attacks
Naomasa puts on a forensic gloves and carefully inspects the old man's dead body.
"This man is in his 60's, has two impacts from his stomach, three from his left lung resulting to his rib cage peircing out, 1 for his right part of his face resulting to bursting of his eyeballs, and 1 most damaged part from his liver. With these injuries, he is expected to die within seconds" The cat added
"There are no retaliations or a mere struggle. And the killer wearing rubber boots, used his sheer stomping force to beat him to pulp. This is used so it can be easily disposed or washed" Naomasa notices
"This man runs the ramen shop alone. According to the neighbors and his usual customers, he is liked by everyone and shows no sign of having enemies" the cat said
"That's odd, I swear I remember this man's face before" Naomasa said
"Well, he was a former sumo champion in his mid 20's. He retired due to unknown reasons and decided to run a shop far from his hometown. He has no relatives nearby, his families members were no where to be found, his parents were long dead, and no family to take care. He lost weight over the years so the concerned people were worried but he shows no signs of weaknesses so far. He has a very low number of admissions in hospitals. And he worked legibly and honestly for the past years" the cat replied
Naomasa thoroughly inspected and notice marks on his back shirt
"He seem to have been dragged from downstairs. What are his usual daily routines?" Noamasa said
"Uhm, he makes an early jog in the morning and a few stretches everyday. He usually goes to a nearby local supermarket. But not so long ago, on Sundays like this one, he decided to buy on the next three towns his grocery supplies for the shop using his own car. They don't know why he would go a little far just for supplies but there are rumors that he also works as a loan shark as his sideline considering the low income he gets from his business" The cat replied
"As a former fighter like him, he could atleast show any signs of a fight" Naomasa said
"Due to his age, people usually sees him struggling from carrying mildly heavy stuffs. But in his identification and past careers, he is registered to have a quirk that can make his muscular tissue stretch to longer distances" the cat said
"The street around here should have surveillance cameras all over. Were there any suspected assailants?" Naomasa asked
"There were cameras that has full coverage footage of the shop's front and back entrances. The shop were closed for the weekends so there were no one around, except for the owner who came home at high noon with his car that he parked in his garage in the back" the cat replied
"The car, is there anything suspicious inside?" Naomasa asked
"Besides for the remaining supplies left to be transferred from the car trunk, there were nothing of sorts" the cat replied
"There could have a possibility that criminal has hidden himself in the car and is still in this house" Naomasa said
"We checked every room in the building and there were nothing to be found" the cat replied
For a second, Naomasa is lost in thought as a realization strikes his mind
"Tamakawa-san! (the cat head). Please command all the officers that searched the perimeter for an immediate head count and state their police numbers as identification" Naomasa said
"Right away" the cat responded and grabs his radio, "Calling all ground units to head infront of the building for..."
Naomasa notices a sound of creeking of a door on one of the rooms. Out of curiousity, he enters and finds the room empty. He checks the drawer and see it empty with only shirts stacked up. He looks down and observes the bed. He quickly looks but there is nothing inside.
He lost interest and decided to head back
He heard a slight creek in the window as a breeze of wind blows it
He looks back and peaks on the nearby building windows
He squints carefully and was surprised to see a silhouette of a human figure standing in the room.
He rushed and asked for backup as they search the next building
The room was dark and no one seems to be home inside. They head upstairs as they held their single handed guns and a light. They break open the door and sees a dead body of a naked man nailed in the wall using a metal pipe through his throat
The officers confirmed that this is one of their teamates, a new one in the job in fact.
Naomasa sees the metal and said "This is used to hang clothes in the drawer, I noticed this was missing at the old mans room"
He walks near the window and added, "He killed the officer inspecting the room by disfiguring his neck using the pipe to prevent him making noises. With his athletic strength or quirk ability, He carried the man to the next building. Using the officer's thick face masks and the uniform, he changed his clothes in a hurry. He probably heard the responding officer through his walkie and clumsily decided to pin the dead body in the wall and return in the room disguised as a personnel"
"Okay I need you to pin point the location of the officer's suit where a tracker is generally installed" The cat commanded to someone on his radio
"The chip were already rigged by the killer sir" a voice in the radio replied
"Damn it!!" The cat was infuriated
"Call for backup from the city police and pro heroes. Tell all units to ran a man hunt within the town. I'll be held responsible for the rash command, possible consequences, and collateral damage." Naomasa said
The officers responded and head for the search
I doubt he clumsily nailed that man in the wall for no reason, a psychopath perhaps, Naomasa was lost in thought while in a car joining the man hunt.
