18 Blight Part 2
Azaki heard the officer's call. He commanded the female officer to stay here and continue her search while they respond to the scene.
He hurriedly climbs back outside the hole. Naomasa lends out his hand to help him out the slippery steps.
The crew runs in front of the officer who chased the suspect. There they see him looking at a two storey apartment building facing another identical one.
The officer claims that he saw a big figure of a man who runs towards this direction as it loses his sight when he came to approach it closer.
Azaki commands the team to search every room in both apartment buildings. Along with Naomasa, they divided into two tandems and proceed with the hunt.
Naomasa beforehand concluded that they don't have to wake the whole neighborhood considering that all lights are already killed. He claims that if the suspect were to hide in the rooms on the apartment, it would leave at least a little soaked tracks on the floor or door knobs.
Naomasa was partnered with the third officer of the group, aside from the female officer and the officer who chased the suspect on foot.
The rain became even more stronger as the ambiance of strong winds carrying the rainwater floods the hallways.
The partner officer became worried even more as their chance of trail is lost in the rain once again.
Naomasa asked if the guy is new in the job and the officer replied that he just started a month ago.
Naomasa motivated him by saying that the criminal got nowhere to go except to hide and camp in these rooms. They got the criminal cornered at the very least. He then said for him to search on the second floor while he himself cover the ground.
The two engages the divide and search tactics. With their pistols held on their hands, they slowly evaluate every room in the building.
If there were no rainstrom currently present, the eerie silence of the apartment could be the entire atmosphere of the operation.
As Naomasa searches through the rooms in the ground floor, he discovers that most of the rooms are drug dens full of passed out middle age people as he peaks through small openings on the window. Their pupils elevated so high almost anything that is left are the white part and red nerves. Their cigars in their hands slowly burning from its tip and dextrose connected on their necks as green fluid flows.
Naomasa searched more rooms as it reveals more vulgar things like young folks involved in narcotics and prostitution.
On the van, the hippie driver is smoking his stash. He then wonders, this is a little strong compared to my regular green, when did I bought this?
Meanwhile, his assigned partner is scanning the oddly empty second floor. He slowly walks through every door hoping anything suspicious is apparent.
Clink
The officer hears a sound of a door knob locking. And the sound came from the room door he just currently passed.
He nervously turns quickly and aims his pistol on the door.
He then slowly reach for the handle but stopped at first. He radio the team for the suspicious room he found.
Naomasa, along with Azaki and the officer who are searching on the other side stopped in their tracks to listen.
He claims that there is someone in the room that locked its door after he passed by or maybe after knowing that he's approaching.
Azaki adresses to the officer to wait for backup.
The officers is currenlty listening but then the door opens from the inside.
It was unlocked in the first place.
The hand came out from the dark room and grabs the officer who were late to react. His radio fell on the ground as the team who are listening hears him shout but quickly abrupted by the hand that covered and muffled his voice.
He was dragged inside as the door closes.
The trio runs as fast as they can to the room.
Naomasa, along with Azaki and the officer arrived in the second floor.
Naomasa saw the radio on the ground and diverts its attention in the door in front. The three of them flocks in front of the door as Azaki shouted to let them in. He rams his weight to pry open the door.
Thug!
There was no response and the door won't budge.
Azaki tells them to stand back as he shoots the door knob point blank with his gun. Three shots landed and blazed the metal knob. Azaki kicks the knob and the door slowly opens as it reveals the interior of the dark unlitted room.
Azaki commands the other officer to unpin his smoke grenade to gas in the room.
The officer follows and grabs the smoke grenade on his utility belt.
He unpins it and waits as he observes Azaki's one to three countdown que on his hands.
1 - 2 - 3
As the officer was about to throw it, Naomasa stops his hand at motion.
The officer asked why did he stopped him along with Azaki wondering as well.
Naomasa said to quiet down and listen.
They then follows to what he said and observes.
Naomasa squints his eyes as he further examined what he noticed in the room.
A sound of metal meekly rolls towards their direction.
Boom!
A smoke grenade detonates from the room and explodes, spreading thick smoke.
The startled officer loses grip of the smoke grenade he is carrying.
It falls down to the floor and explodes all over the hallway.
Azaki and the officer opens fire inside the room.
Bang!
Five bullets each from both of them was shot indiscriminately that lighted up the place.
Some tables and chairs knocked down on the aftermath of the bullet scrimmages.
Azaki commanded them to enter the room together.
Step by step, they walk inside blindly searching with only a flashlight that is merely helpful on creating more visibility inside the foggy premise.
The other officer walks towards a closed window he vaguely see to try airing out the gas.
As he's about to get closer, the tall bulky figure was beside him standing close to the wall.
It landed a clean hit sucker punch on the officer's lower abnomen. Its mere force sent the officer flying across the halls.
The officer reflexively fired a lot of missed shots while in the air. He landed head first on the wall and it knocked him unconscious.
Naomasa responded and aims his pistol to the figure.
Stand down!
He said to the figure standing.
It once again does not respond to anyone's orders.
The figure took a step towards Naomasa
I said stand down!!
Naomasa clearly commanded as his fingers are ready to pull the gun's trigger.
The figure took another step.
Bang!!
Naomasa's gun fires and hits.
The mist became less dense as it reveals the figure's muscular build.
Shock is written all over Naomasa's face as the figure is unfazed by the bullet that hit him as blood drenched its white tee shirt.
The figure outstandingly grabs Naomasa's gun and twist his arm to break.
Aaaahhh!!
The sounds of suffering bursts out of Naomasa's voice.
The figure hacks his left ear with the gun he got.
Dddddddnnnnnggggg
Naomasa's vision and hearing loses function as he hears a ringing sound in his head---due to the severe impact. Although he clearly sees the figure throws his gun sliding all the way outside the room through the busted entrance.
The smoke clears out and the figure reveals himself to be an old man having a white beard and hair in front of Naomasa.
Naomasa can't respond well as he just barely stands with his legs in jelly.
The old man wavers his hand and clenches a fist. He releases a punch for Naomasa but Azaki catches it and its direction misses.
Azaki then quickly aims the gun on the man but he easily catches it.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three shots were fire to the ceiling walls as the old man forces it on Azaki by crushing his hands. The guns then fall to the floor.
But with his other hand, Azaki coats it to dark metal using his quirk. He bashes the old man head repeatedly.
The power causes the old man to let go of Azaki on his bind.
Azaki continues attacking but the old man keeps taking his hits.
Still having the mild concussion, Naomasa grabs the guns that falls to the floor.
This time Azaki, collects momentum to release a full strike.
The old man takes the time in his advantage and strikes back.
The counter flinched Azaki and the old man follows it up with a clean kick on his guts.
Azaki backed down few steps and kneels in pain as he pukes blood.
Naomasa stands up and uses the gun he picked up to shoot the old man's unguarded face.
Clink!
The gun is empty!
Sniff.
"11 rounds, Ah, good old days" the old man said in a deep voice.
A hook to Naomasa's lastly injured part made him fall to the ground.
Hahhh
The old man exhales. He covers his bullet hole with his left hand to stop the flow of bleeding.
Thud
The old man notices the officer who hits his head on the walls barely standing in front of him.
Ahh!!
The officer gave a loud war cry as he charges towards the old man.
He rams him down across the room using all his strength left. He hits them both to the window and breaks it open.
Crackk!!
They both fell to a tall metal fence that peirces them both to the stomach and the smoke was aired out the window.
Ambulance and police sirens are again wailing loudly as a couple of policemen are in the scene along with a paramedic. Some of them are taking in custody of the alleged drug criminals in the ground floor.
There, Naomasa sits on the ground having a first aided arm splint and neck braces. He's still in shock of what has happened. He saw the newly woken up Azaki walking towards him.
Naomasa asked forgiveness for his fallen comrades but Azaki rejects and apologizes instead for his lack of leadership.
Azaki says that according to the data, the old blind man who they fought is a war veteran. And he lives alone with no family to look out for.
Naomasa concluded that its a fluke and the old man must have did it according to his survival instincts or irrational impulses.
The rains starts to clear up. Naomasa notices a feint of smell coming from Azaki.
Azaki replies that his driver usually uses weed as a medication to make himself more calm on duties.
"That's not it...there's another one"
Naomasa as said as he was briefly lost in thought.
"The officer who searched the tunnel, is she still inside the hole?!" Naomasa asked
"Yes" Azaki replied
"The radio, give it to me" Naomasa said and grabs the radio from Azaki's hand
Bzzzt
Naomasa keeps ringing the radio.
"Naomasa, what's happening?!" Azaki worriedly asked
He then narrated,
The sewage, we decided to stop the construction since its passageway is dangerously near a gasoline reserve of a certain company. The gasoline company itself paid us to stop, but recently it fell under big time bankruptcy so it is left unmanaged for months. The only thing I know is that they store a ton of fuels right next to the unbuilt sewage underground.
Bzzzt
Naomasa once again radios the officer.
Inside the tunnel, the radio is placed on the ground. A fluid starts flowing as it submerges it in half.
Bzzzt
The radio rings and it lits up a fire. All hell breaks loose as the fire floods the whole tunnel down.
Even with an injured body, Naomasa and Azaki hurriedly runs towards the man hole.
Boom!!
An explosion erupts scroching the massive area of the town.
