Chapter 7

Emma's out of nowhere request was odd, I mused, or was it really? I had skills that even exceeded the expectations of Guild Examiners who blatantly stated that I definitely wasn't level 1.

So here I am, in the Guild training grounds which is in their basement, again.

Hachiman already reserved a small area for me after I told him what happened. It seems like he already knew the what, where and why the moment I went back to pick up the remaining stones and exchanged the ones that hadn't been jacked by other adventurers.

He literally said, "I'll get the usual training ground reserved for you for the next two days after tomorrow."

It all happened on a Wednesday, he said this on a Wednesday afternoon when I came back, Emma asked for help on a Thursday, I planned to train myself in dual-daggers on a Friday. Today was Friday.

I was confused on what he meant but now I understand.

By the Three, is he telepathic? No, his insight is just that good.

In the training ground, the lights on the ceiling shone (surprisingly similar to the light in the dungeon) and there was grass on the floor with multiple automaton-like dummies. They aren't too lethal, apparently.

I refused the automatons for now.

I put myself in a trance and drew out not my iterations that were in Hyrule but rather my iterations that were beyond Hyrule.

My iterations that were in other worlds.

There was a Link in Xenoblade.

There was also a Link in Undertale.

There… was also a Link in… Huniepop. The fuck? Did he actually…? Out of a literal Goddess? Both with Kyu involved?

Damn, some Links have all of it. There's even a Link in Arknights.

Now… which Link do I need?

A Link who dual-wielded daggers.

Ah, found a world where a few Links held that characteristic.

Nasuverse Link. Dual-wielded a certain married-blades. He wasn't like a certain red-head who aspired to attain justice but rather a blacksmith who created Gān Jiàng and Mò Yé but then decided to give an ideal to the blades rather than be a decoration for some pompous twat since his wife died for it. He became a Hero Of Righteousness. Still got executed by the pompous twat but saved a few people on the way.

Almost had his soul nabbed to the Throne but luckily he died and reincarnated in another world.

So here he was, a version of Link that wore a green kimono with dual-falchions of black and white with yin and yang symbols at their base. Damn, even I have to admire them.

I was currently dual-wielding too with dull daggers but that was fine.

Both I and him engaged in combat and it was truly annoying. His entire combat style is about exploiting weaknesses. He's not using the attraction ability since he knows we're trying to train someone else but he's a damn good combatant without it.

Sometimes he reverts to punching, kicking or even throwing dust. Other times he switched handle-styles to specifically attack me in different ways and techniques.

His skill with the dual-blades is on par with other Links with their usual longswords.

I rolled out the way, dodged his attacks and even flipped out of the way of some of his attacks as I began to understand his combat-style and adapt to it.

I would've died multiple times but luckily his attacks phase through me.

His combat-style requires one to use each and every sense to predict an opponent's next move and act accordingly whilst cutting their most vital areas. Sometimes it's for lasting damage to build up and sometimes it's for crucial damage for an instant K.O. but the basis is damaging the enemy someway.

I finished a few hours later with a lot of phantom wounds.

When I stopped I noticed Hachiman watching with his god-awful drink in hand. Actually… it seems like I drew quite a crowd. Just a few adventurers here and there.

Even Lefiya was observing, though it seems a lot like she wanted to say something.

I waved at Hachiman and he nodded and walked away.

I went to the bathroom in the Guild and washed myself with a cloth. Why does the Guild have modern appliances? Actually, they even have a vending machine… although it's only the Guild.

They all had a signature on them though… it read Gaige. Who?

After cleaning myself, Lefiya came out and asked me out. Aww, how cute.

We walked the streets (occasionally helping lost children or runaway thieves) and got some food to eat and landed in a café with us both ordering beverages.

Huh, she ordered something bitter and sipped it with joy.

I went for a chocolate cappuccino. What? I like my chocolate.

We got some cakes with it too. Chocolate brownie for me and… caramel for her?

"So…" Lefiya puffed her cheeks and started conversation "Why didn't you tell me you could use magic?"

Her pouting was getting out of hand.

"Learned it just then." I responded while nomming on a chocolate brownie.

"You mean you learnt magic from a grimoire? But the words didn't disappear?" Ah, she got something wrong.

I shook my head. "Self-reflection during reading the book."

"Ehhhh~ you learned magic like that? I heard that it takes years if not months." She sipped on her bitter tea.

"It's easy; I'm used to entering a trance when training."

She paused for a moment and gently put down her tea.

"You entered a trance? Not just normal meditation?" She asked to which I nodded.

"I asked myself a few questions then I felt like I knew what to do." I responded.

Her mouth slowly opened until she realised something. "Link."

"Hmm?" I hummed while drinking my cappuccino.

"I think you just learned a new way to unlock magic; a new way that should've been obvious in hindsight." She responded plainly.

"That so?" I shrugged; I can teach Emma magic later.

Her voice became listless "The fact that you can just casually shrug this off is annoying."

We bantered here and there until she just realised something.

"Wait… you're an elf right? What am I saying of course you're an elf." She responded to herself as she looked at me with… sparkling eyes. "Can you teach me your teleportation magic "

Huh, could I? I forgot to update my status and I'm pretty sure that Deity Dia wasn't in the mood to update Emma's status.

I could abuse my Triforce now that I know how to grip onto the feeling of 'courage' which is actually unique. It's like adrenalin, the willingness to move on and stubbornness all mixed into one single emotion or feeling. I can only replicate a hint of that feeling.

Replicating it would just cause my Triforce to faintly glow to become somewhat visible but almost entirely transparent.

Ah, look like I was in deep-thought and Lefiya was pouting at being ignored.

I shrugged, "Sure."

She smiled as if it was an early Christmas present. "So let's begin, what's the effect?"

Effect? It isn't as simple as being coated in wind but more like… making a temporary contract to become partially wind in a metaphysical sense and in exchange they bless you with the ability to travel anywhere you've been.

"I… sort of make a temporary contract with the wind itself and they agree in exchange for some energy or mind. It can only take me to places where I've been but that's all really."

She scoffed "'That's all'? Do you know how useful this is? It could be one of the most useful spells! Being able to easily transport a Familia to a different floor could come in handy at so many points in time!" She exclaimed and stood up which… definitely drew some eyes. She realised she stood up and sat down and blushed as people looked at her.

"Name of the spell?" She asked.

I shrugged "Farore's Wind."

She smiled for a moment but then it grumbled. "Chant?"

I… wasn't sure what she meant. "What chant?"

She paused for a moment "Are all your spells chantless?"

I nodded; she pouted.

"So not fair."

After that she asked if there was a magic circle and I declined then we talked about more casual things.

We exited the store and went to an alleyway.

"So let's do it here!" She exclaimed excitedly.

Do it?

"Do it?"

She paused then squeaked as her face reddened till it was going to explode and the sounds of a kettle radiated from her. That was weird.

"Sure." I nodded.

She reddened even more. "Forget about the… doing part. I meant the magic. I'll be doing the magic."

She raised her hand and nodded "I think I know how it goes now."

"Farore's Wind." She muttered as she was coated in wind and disappeared.

Huh, that was broken.

[Farore's Wind].

I disappeared soon after and found myself in the hut with… Emma in the middle of grabbing her shirt as… her torso had nothing equipped. Does she not have a bra? Huh, they're actually on the larger side.

Dia 'smiled' at me gently; I smiled at them gently; Emma's face became a cherry.

"Nope." I walked back and waited for them to change and went back in. Stupid anime shenanigans.

Emma's face was still red but she still tried everything to ignore what happened.

Dia acted casually. "Would you like an update?"

I raised an eyebrow and glanced at Emma.

Dia noticed "We had a talk and I will admit that there was some fault in both of us which we resolved. I believe, according to your Hachiman friend, you have the training grounds reserved for tomorrow. I would like you to continue training her to a suitable standard."

I nodded.

I took my shirt off to Emma's dismay and got a new status update.

Huh, I overtook Emma in stats. Damn, my STR and AGL stats were no longer balanced.

STR: B 781

VIT: A 897

DEX: B 798

AGL: B 780

MAG: C 601

Total Falna: 3,857

Emma's stats were like so:

STR: B 750

VIT: B 798

DEX: B 765

AGL: B 745

MAG: I 0

Total Falna: 3,058

…Gonna have to teach her magic after beating her up in training. It'll give her an easier way of obtaining magic by entering a trance.

"Do you want to level up?" She asked.

"Nah." I refused. I want at least 'S' rank; my Triforce should allow 'SS' and 'SSS' ranks.
