9 Paths

[An Inscription has appeared on Assassin's Record!]

[Preparation (Stage 2) - Acquire the scabbard from Morde.

- (1/1) Scabbard

Reward: Morde's Scabbard

Remark: Complete]

'This quest is very straightforward since I automatically completed it when I fully came into possession of Assassin's Record.'

[The Hero, Brian, has been murdered! A random draw of Brian's Abilities has been done, please choose one out of the following:

- Gambling skill

- Insight Immunity (x3)

- +3 points on all stats

These options left Zephen thinking for a bit. the first option could be disregarded immediately. He had no need for gambling abilities. It was another story for the second and third options though. Both had their perks.

The second option could grant him Insight Immunity to a certain degree. It would certainly help against prediction type abilities. Zephen disliked that he couldn't see exactly by how much he could prevent it. He didn't like to test his luck after yesterday.

The third option would immediately strengthen himself and would complete the pity quest as well. If he had to categorize them, the third option would be a short term upgrade, the second a long term one.

'There are probably quite some abilities which will be hindered by this Insight Immunity. I really don't want to deal with those annoying ones.' Zephen had chosen the second option, making another Immunity appear in the system's list.

[Immunities:

- Future Memories

(!) Insight - Limit the predictions around Zephen by 20% (x3).]

Zephen didn't know how this worked exactly but limiting was good no matter how much.

[Preparation (Stage 4) - Murder the Hero!

- (1/1) Hero killed

Reward: Path of a Murderer

Remark: Complete]

[A Hero has been killed with a dagger! Path of a Thief unlocked!]

[Ding! The function 'Paths' has been unlocked!]

Zephen was quite surprised by these notifications. He had never heard or seen anything about a 'Path' before.

When he looked at the system's functions, a new one had appeared.

When he opened the new function, 'Paths', it started an explanation.

[A path is a road a Hero will take to develop their abilities. There is an infinite amount of Paths for Heroes to take, many of which are unique.

Host can acquire paths in various ways, the most common of which to satisfy certain conditions while killing a Hero.

Each Path gives a skill upon attaining them. They started at level 0 and when they reach level 10, another skill will be given from the same Path.

Every day, when the host sleeps, he will enter a training zone in which Host can learn the skill.]

[Paths:

- Murderer

- Thief]

He then looked at the 'skills' he had gotten from both

[Path of a Murderer

- Murdering Intent LV. 0]

[Path of a Thief

- Dagger Throwing LV. 0]

As Zephen hadn't learned them yet, he couldn't comment about their use. Since he couldn't do anything here, he went to the last thing; the new Inscription on Assassin's Record.

[Assassin's Record

Grade: B+ (Upgradeable)

Explanation: A scabbard recording the deeds of the holder. It will grow stronger the more Inscriptions it has.

Inscriptions:

Coin - Trust can now transform into a golden coin. Allow Trust to return to the scabbard any time.

Remark: Passable.]

Zephen was suddenly stunned. This Inscription made him think back to when he killed Brian. In his hurry to escape he has left the guys Artifacts!

One of them was the coin that had similar abilities, but there was one missing. The coin also hit with 10 times the power it was thrown with. It was a grade B+ Artifact as well.

Trying not to think of his mistake anymore, he focused on the new abilities. He especially had an idea in mind combining the dagger throw skill, return and invisibility enchantment.

It would become an endless supply of powerful invisible daggers. He didn't have much to do today. He only had to pick up his reward at midnight at the Dalconstreet.

'It clearly set learn to throw daggers, so I might as well practice before the 'lesson' when I'm asleep.' He was actually worried doing this would be for naught. He ultimately figured experience was never a bad thing.

Putting thoughts into action, he went outside and headed east, the opposite side of Dalconstreet, as it was the closest forest.

The government of each Labyrinth always made sure there were enough trees at any given time. This resulted in a lot of replacements for wood. Since it was barely used, trees weren't cut down and forests were left alone. This caused them to almost be a weed.

This was a forest of Orichalcum Trees. They had an extremely tough, snowwhite bark and deep blue leaves.

Zephen walked in fairly far. He made sure to write down recognizable points on the road in his notebook. He walked in until there was no sign of a path at all anymore and then went even deeper.

He came into an open space with a few boulders and groups of flowers. He cut a large piece of wood and made a round target put of it. He carefully made inner circles with Trust. It took him a good half an hour but Zephen was satisfied with his work.

He first took out some steamed buns he had prepared for himself and a bottle of Fizzy.

After that, he started throwing daggers. He tried a few times and realized it was very hard. Even when just three meters away, he couldn't even get a feeling of accuracy. He wasn't even considering the angle, speed, and rotation yet.

He decided to try a few things; holding the tip of the blade when throwing, holding the end of the hilt, throwing the dagger horizontally, vertically, and a lot more things.

His results were fair poor but he wasn't demotivated at all. It was mostly because the skill Dagger Throwing had gone from LV. 0 to LV. 0 (63%). It had been two and a half hours to reach this point. Zephen could now hit the target, though where and how was up to date.

Seeing the reward for his work, Zephen decided to continue for a while.
