8 Each other 's Trust

"Ken Run!" These were the last words my mother ever spoke to me or anyone else for that matter and while she was getting brutally murdered my father was nowhere to be found that damn.....!

*gasps*

"Mhhm Is it morning already?" I inadvertently asked.

"Good morning, It seems like you were having a bad dream.... are you alright?" The Girl with Pointy ears asks me.

"Uhh yeah I'm fine sorry if I scared you" I replied while giving her a chuckle.

I see someone else from the corner of my right eye, "Is that you Kitsuni?" I ask I look at Elaina to see her all confused "Is something the matter?" I ask

"Uh, no I just didn't expect you to call her like that." Like what did I somehow do wrong?

"I- It's alright now Miss Elaina we've already talked it over." Kitsuni replies.

"Oh, Is that so since when?" Elaina asks.

"Last night when I couldn't sleep well." She coolly answers.

"Is that so? Well that's rather lovely." Elaina says.

"So what are you guys planning on doing now?" I ask

"We still don't know if we go to any town right now we might get hunted and captured again, Is it alright for us if we stay here? We'll do anything please just don't leave us right now if someone sees us you're the only one that can protect us." Elaina says with unease.

"Do what you want, But if I even sense a bit of hostility from you guys I will leave and also you guys will need to help me get food from now on." I replied.

"Th- that's fine but don't expect anything from us weaklings." Kitsuna weighs in.

Ugh that word weakling I hate hearing it.

"That's odd." I say

"Is something wrong?" Both Elaina and Kitsuna ask.

"Yeah, are Elves really this weak at level one or is it just you?" I ask rather bluntly.

"Wait, do you mean my stats?" She asks back.

"Yeah what else."

"I don't know what you're talking about everybody is at least this weak or even weaker at level one."

She's trying to explain how Levels work but I don't get any of that, Why? It's simple really because it doesn't make sense why would they call me weak if I'm already stronger than an, Average person at level one it just doesn't make any sense.

"Hey", "HEY!" "Are you listening?" Elaina asks me.

"Y- yeah." I say better to just keep this a secret for now at least until I'm sure I can trust them.

There's still a lot of things I still don't know, But I do know something: trusting someone with no reason could get me killed.

"Hey, how bout we make a deal?" I say

"And that is?" Both girls reply.

"How about this I'll protect you guys but you'll need to pay me with something valuable." This sounds like a pretty good deal to me, no way they'll refuse.

"By pay you don't mean?!" Elaina looks at her body while getting flustered.

"N- no of course not! I simply meant information." I say with haste.

I can't believe they actually thought I would do something like that, Well this just means they're still cautious of me.

"Oh yeah sure." Kitsuna replies.

Good with this I can get some pretty important info about this world.
