3 3. Offer

The pencil-straight back of such a slender, elegant figure attracted tons of unwanted attention as Luna made her way through the long corridors. A few juniors gazed at her passing figure with unconcealed admiration, while a few female seniors instantly huddled together and whispered, obviously discussing about her 'arrogance' as their eyes, raging with jealousy saw how protective Noah was of her while walking besides her. The fire burnt their eyes and made its way into their hearts, turning their previously crystal clear stream of a heart black, symbolising the unearthing of the evil deep inside.

But the iceberg-like girl calmly ignored all these things as her feet finally carried her to the destination. She stood still, glancing at the mahogany door in front of her before unhesitatingly knocking, albeit gently and rythmically.

Luna was always unique-one of a kind, as even her knocks against the door could be counted somewhat as a melody. There was gentleness and elegance in the way she knocked, and thus such a simple action of showing manners was turned into a pleasantly graceful performance of her. The knocks also allowed teachers to easily identify her- and each and every one of them would respond, gey enthusiastically and practically flung open the door in welcome of her.

Other students had previously tried to copy the way she knocked, but the result was obvious-

Always a failure.

They can't copy her grace, her strength, her gentleness and even the way she controlled her fingers and hands while knocking. Thus, Luna's knocks became a legend in the entire school, and it made every student here question themselves-

Since when did such a basic action...

Became so hard to execute?!

The mahogany door practically flinged upon as a result of the principal's eagerness to see this two beloved students of his whom he had practically viewed as his very own children.

"Luna, Noah! Come in."

His face suddenly grew sombre.

Noah sent a sideway glance to the poker faced girl beside him, but he was easily ignored as Luna walked in slowly, quietly examining the principal's face.

"Haih, I am sure the both of you hadn't known what I called you here for." he said, glancing up from the paperworks piled upon his vintage desk. Noah and Luna remained quiet, as if understanding that the principal needed to be given time to really voice out what was on his mind.

"You both... caught the eye of the higher-ups at Imperial Hibiscus High School. Particularly you, Luna and for you, Noah, they felt that it was time you return. Your parents gave the decision making to you. And Luna," he breathed out after a long bout of silence, "You'll be the first ever student in history to have the scholarship personally provided by the school."

Noah was shocked.

As the young mastet of the fourth richest company in the entiry country, it is a given that his education is to consist only of de creme de la creme in the education field that can be provided.

And Imperial Hibiscus High School was just that. It schooled nobles and rich young masters and misses, and only the most talented out of the bunch. Some ordinary students also have their chance to study there, given that they caught the eye of any rich families willing to sponsor them to have them work for the family's business in the future. This practice is regarded as poaching and nurturing talents in the circle.

But the school itself had never gave out any scholarship to any student from the ordinary families, no matter how outstanding!

Noah himself schooled there before transferring to Tulips Jones High School to 'gain experience', but he had always been reluctant to leave after as he liked it here. He had missed his friends at his old school, particularly the other 3 Young Masters he had grown up together with, but after meeting Luna he had decided to stay here. Lucky for him there was no objections from his parents as they had met Luna during the school's annual parent-teacher conference and felt that Noah could learn a lot from her.

Imperial Hibiscus High School was the top high school in Grozeia, equipped with top notch facilities, teachers and environment. It was holistically excellent, and its students had turned into notable figures of today, the leaders of society- it was a school where its students would be the most regarded candidates to enter the top notch universities in Grozeia and around the world.

Even on a global scale, very few high schools could match up to its grandeur.

Noah exhaled heavily before speaking, "I'll follow Lune." he turned his head towards the young lady beside him, waiting for her to make the decision that he knew will somewhat influence his future.

His words caused the pupils hiding beneath the foggy glasses to glint sharply before calmly returning to its original state.

The principal looked towards Luna before saying, "I know I would be sad to let the both of you go but I know I cannot deprive you of your rights to the brighter future you can surely look forward to there. Here, opportunities are available but not as abundant as the ones you'll obtain by attending Imperial Hibiscus. So Luna, what do you think?"

She was a hard to approach, no nonsense girl.

And so, without the presence of any hesitation she nodded her head yes.

The principal smiled. "Then you may depart tomorrow. All relevant files and forms are already completed as I had a feeling you won't easily let this once in a lifetime chance go. Hmm... don't forget to miss me in the future, will you?" he spoke, and no matter how hard he tried, both these sensitive students of his could detect the faint trace of sadness lingering in his heavy voice.

Noah nodded in gratefulness towards him. Suddenly, Luna went forward, grabbed an exquisite pen and a piece of vintagely decorated sticky note out of the pocket of her jeans and wrote something before handing them towards the principal.

On the paper was a writing so beautiful it never fails to make the observer pause in amazement and awe as they helplessly stared in admiration at such an impressive handwriting. On it was written these very words:

"Thank you. We shan't dissappoint you."

Simple, yet the feelings, the way she wrote the words made one subsconciously commit it to not only memory but the deepest part of their hearts as well.

Simply put, unforgettable, as one might say.

Luna bowed towards the principal in a naturally graceful manner before walking out of the room. Noah stared at the principal who was holding the piece of sticky note like it was a piece of treasure, holding back the laugh threatening to erupt from his throat. In the end, he nodded politely towards him before running forward to catch up with the girl who had already disappeared from the corridor.

The principal, meanwhile, was bragging about the note he had just received from the iceberg girl, enjoying the stares of envy-to-death the other teachers gave him.

In the corridor heading straight to their classroom Luna looked at the boy who now had finally arrived besides her pointedly. She wrote on her palm,

'Old pal?'

Noah was stunned begore he replied,

"Yeah, I got some old rascals of mine currently schooling there. They're nice, though they're quite hard to know at first. They're eager to meet you considering the many times I've told them about you- umm... would you blame me for that?"

Luna stiled her head for a moment, blankly looking forward before she shook her head no.

He heaved a sigh of relief and said, "Oh, would you mind if I... well, do you want to hitch a ride tomorrow? Because we're departing tomorrow, and the journey might be tiring. So... um, yeah?"

He absolutely had no idea why he would feel so tongue tied around her.

Luna nodded amd swiftly entered the classroom.
