5 Zombies

Noel felt her whole body cramped like never before. Every corner of her body aches in indescribable pain. It took all she got for her consciousness to persist.

She didn't know how much time has passed but Noel finally felt the ground, her body convulsed for a few moments before she can regain control.

Noel slowly opened her eyes and dizzily stared at the vast night sky twinkling with dazzling stars. A scene she can never found in her world.

'What happened?' Noel's sight recovers their clarity and her mind jolted in shock.

The things that Noel remembered were blurred. She recalled going to the last room and that was it. Furthermore and the memories continue to be dull.

Noel supported her head as she sat up, her thin body appearing somewhat emaciated, which it was. Noel scanned her surroundings and found herself in a dark forest, a place she can only see in old pictures.

"Where is this?" As Noel lived underground her whole life, she had never seen trees that were tall and big. She had never seen the beautiful night sky nor feel the fresh cold wind.

It was so...novel.

'But where are that pungent smell and groaning noises coming from?' At this realization, Noel immediately became alert.

Noel sniffed the wind and the familiar smell of rotten meat invaded her nose. Noel warily and silently unbuckled the knife on her thigh and deliberately approach where the noises are.

Her breathing became light and footsteps silent.

After hiding herself on one of the big trunks of a tree, Noel glimpses at the scene.

Unlike the big bodies of the aliens she always saw, a familiar small body of humans was slowly strolling in the cemented path.

'But is it human?' Noel narrowed her eyes and managed to see the person's body. It was filled with wide bites and disgusting dried black blood. Its intestines are also hanging in its stomach. It looks very disgusting as it releases an inhumane growl.

The other creatures roaming around looked the same with different varying injuries on their disgusting bodies.

Such a scene made Noel reminiscence an outdated movie that her old master made her watch with him.

'Are they zombies?' In Noel's memories of that movie, zombies bite human livings to infect them and eat their flesh. Zombies also looked disgusting in that movie, it looks the same disgusting thing that was freely roaming in the cemented path.

'But what about the aliens? Where are they?' Noel puzzlingly thought.

'Her world is infested by flesh-eating aliens not zombies, so where is she?'

'Wait...Her world?' Noel managed to notice something wrong with her thoughts. The more she delved deeper into it, the more the blur memories became clear.

'E2.'

'Someone pushed me in that apparatus and I found myself here.'

As Noel is lost in her thoughts, a groaning noise came from behind, it was an approaching figure.

Noel became alert and clutch the figure's neck, it was a zombie. In Noel's mind, she shortly recollected how the protagonist killed the zombies in the old movie and found out that severing its head or attacking the brain is a good thing. And so, Noel raised her knife and strongly pushed it down the zombie's head, finding out that the skull it too soft and easily pierced.

The struggling zombie became mum and Noel silently let go of the body, watching it fall to the ground with a 'thud.'

"Wasn't killing it too easy?" Noel dumbfoundedly found herself whispering. As someone who has fought with intelligent, strong, and fast aliens, the slow and weak zombie seems too easy.

'Isn't this...great?' Noel thought and looked at the unmoving corpse on the soil, her face bloomed with a smile.
