A week later, Justin found himself on the doorstep of his childhood home with the love of his life in tow. When his mom enthusiastically pulled him inside like an octopus reaching for a shrimp, Emily laughed at his predicament. Two seconds later, she bent down and started cooing at his cat.

"This must be Cookie! Aww he's precious! Who's the good kitty? You're the good kitty, yes you are!"

Cookie preened under her adoring gaze before noticing his favorite person was home. He immediately stopped rolling on the ground and started climbing up Justin's pant leg. "Ow! Cookie! Stop that!" he complained as he extricated himself from the claws stuck in his jeans. He picked up the purring beast and scowled before breaking into a soft smile. "Yeah, yeah. I missed you too buddy."
