15 One step closer

I looked in the mirror where I saw myself crying. What I see in my own reflection is full of sadness and fatigue. I felt pity for myself for a reason I don't understand. I have never cried this much. Especially in a dream. I thought and remembered my dream. Then I remembered my mom telling me that there will be a moment where all of this will pay off.

From the very start I know that someday there will be a payment for this perfect life I had.

I am an only child, my parents were both business tycoons and I always get what I ask that I no longer thought of anything I need. I was blessed with looks and brains. Also many guys asking me out and lastly, I got a true, loyal friend.

When I was a child, my mom used to tell me a story that I was destined to do something. That every person has something to finish.

Everything that bothered me came back to my mind. I know that my dreams are connected to someone, or somewhat to the person I loved. I feel so heavy and I know it is no longer just a dream. I don’t know as long as I just feel it. Something bad is going to happen.

I held the phone tightly and my chest was full of eagerness. I was breathing heavily and my phone rang a few times before Julie answered it. She was the first to enter my mind because I know she needs to know what I was going to say. Also she is the only one who really listens to me.

"Eula? How are you?"

I don't know how to start it, she wouldn't think of me as a freak, right? She always listens to me. Even though I was no longer credible, she always listened to me.

"I-I have this weird dream -----"

"Eula, I know." she stopped what I was about to say so I stopped crying and frowned.

"Huh?"

"I was about to call you and actually, we need you here." I could not speak and it took me awhile before I realized what she had said.

Meanwhile in Fernandez 'residence...moments before Eula take the call

"Care to listen to my story?" Jayden saw his two companions turn around as the old woman said those words.

Simon's eyes showed the shock and so did Julie's. "C-can you see me?" This is the third time Jayden has been surprised after he was imprisoned for the extraordinary curse he had. The first is when he and Julie met on the rooftop of the hospital. The second one is because of Eula.

He was very startled because he knows that this old woman in front of him is just like Julie, they are far strong enough to be seen by death itself so it is impossible that they are seeing him because they are dying.

"Of course, four generations have been waiting for your arrival."

"W-wait, you knew him, grandma?" Simon approached his grandmother and they were all looking forward to what she has to say next. They need a lot of explanation and maybe she will be the answer to all this.

"You look tired from your trip, so I must take you inside and quench your curiosities. Afterall, no one shall know about this."confused by what the old woman was doing, the three followed as she led them to the corner of the mansion. They need an answer now, and they are sure that it will all end soon.

As they climbed, Julie noticed the familiarity of the surroundings. It was as if she knew the place very well. There the dream entered her mind.

There's a room with a gold door knob on the left after we took a right turn.

And Julie's suspicion was correct so her hand began to tremble.

"You okay, Julie?" Everyone stopped walking at the same time as Julie closed her eyes.

"Julie?"

"JULIE! HEY! CAN YOU HEAR ME ?!"

"My child will put an end to this curse, she will bring death upon your child, Veronica. That child of yours, that dearly child of yours will be blessed to have Jayden by his side but his care for Jayden will be the death of your bloodline. The abandoned love my man has given me will give him an eternal life not until your child will be blessed to surpass death once. "

"JULIE!" Simon who was already praying to all the gods to give him the strength to walk. "S-she..." the old woman said softly as the two men supported the girl with him. "She is the missing piece."

The girl completely lost consciousness.

"Can someone call my doctor! And you two, bring her and come with me."Frida ordered the two men so Jayden immediately picked up Julie as they continued walking. The old woman glanced at his grandson and saw that he was holding back his emotions.

A few more walks they were already inside a room.

"There isn't a door here before." Simon said in surprise. "Yes, there isn't."she turns the lock and they are welcomed by the room enveloped by the dark.

Frida turned on the lights and saw a myriad of books and various ancient photographs.

"Make her lie down there, and it is only a matter of time before I finished explaining you this."

Jayden carefully laid Julie down on the soft mattress that was in the room and it was undeniable, the surroundings were very fragrant and very clean even though the equipment looked old. "I thought that only two pieces of the curse would come here but I saw this woman."

Simon's eyes narrowed when his grandma looked at Julie then to him.

"I supposed that I should drop any introductions here and say what I have to say."

"Devoree is your late wife, right?" Jayden just nodded and didn't know how this old lady knew about it.

was found dead, her hands were tied up while several bruises and swollen parts of her body are clearly visible.

Her child cannot be found and is suspected that it was taken away from her after birth.She was taken as well as her family and kept in an underground room where she spent 3 months until her birth.

Her family was murdered right before Jayden’s eyes.

"CURSE YOU, VERONICA !!!"

"AHH!" She screamed hoping that the pain would subside. She wanted to die, if it was not only for her child. "I WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR THIS!" Then another fists came to her belly. "AHHHHH!" Blood rushed down to her thighs. And for a second, she forgot about the pain. She forgot of death, she forgot about everything.

Her last words written in a diary were the only thing remaining in her history…

"She was tortured before they murdered her." Jayden said with his expression that is completely blank.He can't keep up with everything he heard and the people around him are scared that he might go violent since he's not expression much emotion. They knew it was painful for him to detail what happened to the woman he loved. Simon was saddened by what he heard because of all the stories Jayden had told him, Devoree's story is the only thing that still puzzle him.

Jayden had known about Devoree's death for a long time but he did not expect her to hate him so much. That Devoree’s anger and resent for him turned into a curse that can last for centuries. For hundreds of years Jayden regretted not fighting enough against Martinez and not being able to save Devoree and their child. Different emotions came out of him and it could be seen on his face.

"Does this mean that Devoree is the one who put this curse? And what did she mean by the 'my child'?" Simon is the first one to recovered from the shock.

"Yes, she is responsible for all of this, after she gave birth to her child, she cast upon this curse, knowing that there's death awaiting her." Even though her grandmother gave the story behind Devoree's curse, Simon remains confused.

"How come Julie is involved in all of this?" Jayden forced himself to stay calm. He waited a long time for this opportunity but why does he seem afraid to end it all?

Now that he knows the reason why he was given eternal life, just why now he just thinks he wants to live longer.

"Actually, this scenario of you two coming here was expected except for bringing this woman. She has nothing to do with the curse not until she was linked to each of the pieces. She is the bridge."

"Now, we know, about the 'child' thingy, how we will find the child of Devoree and Veronica? How will they settle things?"

"We don't need to find them because we all know that you already found the child of Devoree."they all turned to Jayden and just looked serious as if he was expecting everything.

"Is it really E-eula? I mean, we have only had a hunch, we are not sure if it is really her." Simon asked, full of astonishment. "I-I'm sure that Eula is the one we're looking for, but how about the other child?"

"I told you that Julie is the bridge to all of the pieces of this curse, and all of the pieces have only one in common, you all love the bridge . One is Eula, the other is you Jayden and the descendant of Martinez is you, Simon."
