26 Uproar

As soon as Lily reached her office, she saw a huge crowd of reporters swarming at the entrance waiting to get a glimpse of her. Well, it was expected as the mysterious business woman came out in light after being in dark for many years. So, it was obvious for people to be curious about her.

Lily was aware that people will be curious about her after her appearance but little did she know, that she would cause such a uproar by just one appearance of herself. She took the secret passage to the basement parking and went straight to her private elevator that opens directly at her floor.

As soon as Sarah saw her, she greeted lily with her sweet smile but was shocked at what happened next,

"Good morning Sarah, let's have a coffe in my office", Lily said and passed a smile towards her.

'She smiled, finally!' Sarah's happiness knew no bounds as soon as she saw her friend smiling at her. After all these years she was able to see a genuine smile on Lily's face. She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even realise that lily has already left.

She came out of her stupor and made two cups of coffee and took some light sugar free refreshments and went inside her office.

As soon as Lily saw Sarah coming in, she came towards the couch and sat, sarah sat beside her and looked at lily. Before lily could say anything, Sarah took lily's hands in her, with tears pooling in her eyes she said, "I am so proud of you Lily"

"Hey, why are you crying Sarah? Is everything alright? What's going on in this small brain of yours? huh!", Lily said, visibly worried about her friend.

"Nothing, it's just, t-that... I'm so happy!..... I'm so happy lily. Your hard work of such long years paid off. Look at people swarming here just to get a glimpse of you."

Sarah wanted to say so many things as soon as she saw yesterday's broadcast and today's uproar but she felt so overwhelmed with her emotions that all she could do was letting her tears fall freely.

" I've known you from school Lily, a sweet, timid innocent girl, who would have thought she would conquer the world one day and be this invincible business woman one day. I am very proud to watch you grow into a beautiful leader you've become.

It's been years since I saw you smile, and today I got to see that smile on your face... I can't tell you how happy I am."

Lily looked at her friend and no matter how hard she tried her eyes stung and the rims of her eyes became red. She knew how emotional Sarah was. She was like this from childhood and lily knew, no words could pacify her friend now. So she scooted over to her friend and enveloped in her hug and patted her back.

"It's okay Sarah, we've worked hard for this and today we did came far from where we had been." she let go of Sarah and looked at her and continued,

"And it wouldn't have been possible without your help. Six years ago, if it weren't for you, we wouldn't have been here".

Sarah's gaze darkened, as soon as she heard lily mention the past. Lily knew that look and continued, "Don't worry, yesterday was just the starting. You'll soon have your chance"

"I am waiting for that." Sarah said while curling her hands into fist.

Lily couldn't help but feel lucky to have such friends, she gave Sarah another hug and then passed her a coffee and said, "Let's have it before it turns cold. And don't worry you'll see me smile more often."

'That's the least I could do for all of you' she thought.

After having their coffee, Sarah asked, "When do you think, he'll be visiting us?"

"He should be here soon! But I think he'll try to make it look like a chance encounter. And if he visits here, you know how to deal with him right?" Lily thought and said.

"Of course, it's been years since I've met him. We'll catch up like old times", Sarah replied with a sweet smile.

Lily chuckled, "Oh yes, Cancel my schedule for half of the day. I'll be meeting Grandpa Green for lunch!"
