6 First Impressions

Inside a dorm room, an alarm was repeatedly going off. However, there was no attempt to shut it down. This was no ordinary alarm clock. Liu Kai's alarm could be described as a speaker on full blast, and what's worse was what the alarm clock was monotonously repeating: "Wake up.. Wake up.. WAKE UP… WAAAKE UUP.. WAAAAKKKKEEE UUUUUUPPPP!!" With each call, the alarm progressively became louder.

Even with all that, Liu Kai showed no signs of waking up. She was a deep sleeper, hence why she had such an atrocious alarm. Even though she was unaffected, the other dorms were definitely not in the same position, especially with such thin walls. At first, no one really minded. It was still early, and everyone was tired. Surely the owner would turn it down soon.

1 minute later… WAAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UUPPP…

5 minutes later... WAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKEEEE UUPPPPPPPPPP, WAAAAAAAKKKKKEEEEEE UUUUUUUUUPPPP!!!!

Someone couldn't stand it any longer. "That's it! Who is it!!? TURN IT DOWN!!! " Liu Kai's walls and doors were rattled, thumped and banged on. No response.

After 'sometime', Liu Kai was startled awake by what seemed to be a horde of elephants stomping on her door, and loud noises coming from outside. Oh yeah… and her alarm clock. She had forgotten about that. (-_-)

Rubbing her eyes, she reached out her arms to feel for her alarm clock. Fiddling around, she finally found it and banged the snooze button in an irritated mood. Just why did she set her alarm so early, believing she would, one day, wake up? It was obviously impossible, yet she still did it to feel good about herself. CRACK. Looking at her fist, she realised she had crushed the alarm clock accidentally. Slowly, Liu Kai lifted her fist, turned to her pillow, muffled her face with it, and groaned loudly into it. 'Inner peace. Inner peace. I have inner peace. Everything is fine. Phew.'

This was fine and all, but she had forgotten about the 'horde of elephants' banging on her door. "Hey are you in there?" "Hello?" "Come out right now!" "I'm going to kill whoever that punk is!" Numerous voices called from outside, bringing Liu Kai back to reality. Oops.. they were probably annoyed because of the alarm right? Liu Kai silently promised herself to change it from now on.

Taking a deep breath, Liu Kai hesitatingly cracked open the door, and faced the multitude of tired, irritated and angry faces. This.. was not good for a first impression, right? "Haha, hey! How do you do, friends?" Liu Kai greeted the glares with an awkward laugh, hoping grievances could be put aside in the future. From the back, a snicker could be heard. "Hey, check this guy out. He thinks he can get away just like that! Well sorry to disappoint you, it's not going to be that easy. Disturbing me so early in the morning? I'm going to make you regret that you ever set foot in this school, you punk!!" Liu Kai was at a loss. It was her first day, and she had already offended someone.

Suddenly, the boy lunged at her, aiming to punch her face, and just as Liu Kai was prepared to defend, a voice could be heard in the distance. "What's all this commotion so early in the morning!! What are you doing! Break it up NOW! If I don't see you scatter now, I'll give everyone black marks on their records!" "Sh*t, it's the dorm supervisor! Transfer student, it's your lucky day. Mess up again, and you're dead!" With that the students scattered, most going back to their dorms to catch up on sleep.

As for the dorm teacher… he was giving Liu Kai a stare down, being the centre of the disturbance and the only one remaining in the hallway. "Transfer student Liu Kai, follow me to my office." Liu Kai trudged behind him with her head low. Indeed, she had given quite the first impression… just not the one she wanted. In his office, Liu Kai was given her first school lecture. On her first, official day of school… How embarrassing! (º¬º)

"Student Liu Kai, I'll let this one slide as you have just transferred and have yet to learn rules. However, keep in mind that you are now a student of this school and should behave accordingly! Your uniform package has arrived. Please make sure to wear it for all classes starting from today onwards-" The dorm teacher paused and eyed Liu Kai, as if to make sure she was paying attention. When this was confirmed, he continued, "You had better make sure this does not repeat. I cannot have disruptions like this in the dorms for the sake of your wake up schedule. Use minimal volume from now on. Do you understand?"

Liu Kai nodded, barking out a "Yes sir!" She looked as if she was ready to salute. For some reason this attitude seemed to please the supervisor, as he shook his head approvingly.

"Very well then, be on your way," he motioned with his hands. With her hands clasping her newly packaged uniform, Liu Kai's mind was in a state of crisis.

Surely this morning's incident wouldn't leave too much of an impression… Right?
