1 PROLOGUE

"He's headed into the subway, requesting backup and block the exits"

roared the cop into his radio as he chased after the notorious felon, Spades.

Jason Croft, also known on the street as Spades was a high profile murderer. He had killed many of Boston's unsuspecting citizens in alleyways and enclosed areas. He always left and ace of spades on his victim's corpse. He always cleaned up nicely and left enough evidence to keep the cops ideas but no solutions. He took pleasure from his cat and mouse game with the NYPD.The killing was never really what he cared for. He enjoyed feeling superior to the brightest in the force.

He wanted to prove that they were fools for discharging him in his prime. Now 10 years after his fall from grace he would make a joke of those who wronged him. All these thoughts ran through Jason's mind as he fled from the cops. How had they found him, he didn't leave enough for them to trace to him, he never made mistakes, it was impossible to have found him. His current shape didn't help him in this situation as since leaving the force he had let himself go, he had a bit of a potbelly and his dyed green hair didn't help him remain inconspicuous as he ran through the streets. He finally made a dash into a subway tunnel and grabbed a young woman. He pulled out his gun and held it to her head. In this situation he needed a hostage to avoid getting shot on sight.

"Alright, everybody stay away or I'll blow her brains out!"

yelled Jason as the crowd noticed him holding the gun to the lady's head. This caused a panic as most of the people in the tunnel ran for the exits. When the crowd had finally cleared Jason took a sigh of relief, the first part was done.

" Pl..please let me go....pleeease I don't wanna die!"

begged the woman in Jason's arms.

" I'm sorry miss, it's nothing personal, I just need your services"

replied Jason.

" I see your still the gentleman you once were"

came a voice from the subway train tracks. Turning immediately Jason saw the person whose voice it was.

" The chief must be some kind of a bastard to have sent you, Toshinori."

" He knows I know how you think, after all we were once partners."

This was bad news for Jason, if there was one person who could almost match him, it would be his Toshinori Yagami, his former partner.

Toshinori already having his gun drawn slowly approached Jason and his hostage.

" Don't come any closer , I'll shoot"

" please... don't come, he'll shoot, please"

" But you won't shoot"

Checkmate. Jason couldn't kill her, the moment he did, he'd have nothing and Toshinori knew this. All he could do was bluff but Toshinori had already seen through him.

If he was going to go, it would be on his terms. Jason slowly moved th gun from the lady's head to his head. He would have the last laugh.

" Jason don't you dare pull that trigger!"

yelled Toshinori.

" I'm sorry but I can't let you have the satisfaction of actually catching me."

Jason readied himself but then an indescribably loud noise rang through his ear drums and the world began to turn white, but he hadn't pulled the trigger yet.

"You bastard."

muttered Jason as he fell to the floor. Jason began cursing Toshinori as his consciousness drifted away, but before he left, he found it odd that Toshinori and the lady were also on the floor clutching their ears too.
