15 Trap (2)

"To keep an eye on you." Quince replied. Even though it was dark, Queen could imagine the non expression on his face. 'His tone sounds as if he's talking to an imbecile.' Queen thought annoyingly. 'You were the one that kept running around and asking the same thing over and over again you know!'

"Can't you just stay outside and do that from afar?" Queen grumbled. The space is so damn small and this guy kept taking up her valuable space. To avoid suspicion, they couldn't turn on the air conditioner. Queen's gown was so thick it was making her sweat all over. On top of that, she has to stick close to this stupid suspicious cat beside her. She was seriously running out of patience.

"It's not my fault that you are suspicious." Quince said coolly.

"How am I suspicious Master Quince?! While it's true that my prank went a little too far, I already apologized." Queen retorted back hotly.

"The La Meilleure family is not on my invitation list. Yet, here you are." Quince said.

"We definitely are Master Quince. It's not my fault if your knowledge is not as vast as it ought to be." Queen said.

"Are you insulting me?" Quince pushed his face towards her.

"Damn right I am! You're pushing it too much!" Queen whispered yelled.

They stared at each other, anger burning in their eyes. Hers with red fire and his with icy cool one. They could feel each other's breath as they continued glaring at one another.

After a while, they began to realize that they were too near to each other. Even though it was dark and they couldn't see each other's faces clearly, it didn't deter the shiver of delight that ran down their spines.

'Oh lord, why am I feeling so strange? I found him so annoying one moment before now I just feel....strange. Really really strange.' Queen thought as she continued staring at his face.

Quince was in no different position as he too couldn't understand his feeling. 'What is this feeling? Why do I feel so strange? What is this delight and...anticipation I feel?'

They continued gazing at one another before snapping out of their daze. Just as they were about to shift their gazes away, they heard the sound of the door creaking.

They froze and in the next second Quince immediately pulled Queen's face towards his side. He hugged her face to his chest before whispering in her ear,"Don't move."

Quince knew that they were dealing with a possible killer and he simply couldn't let her be in danger. He didn't know why he was willing to risk his own life to shield her. He just knew that he had to.

'You smelly cat! How dare you command me not to move?! And what's with this protective stance?! I'm the one that's supposed to be protecting you!' Queen fumed silently. But she knew she couldn't create a scene as they were in a dangerous situation.
