27 The culprit (1.5)

Quince walked behind his table and started looking over some documents as he waited for One. It was 1 am at the moment.

"You know I have been wondering, what if the engineers team goes over to the late Mr.Craw room and find his body?" Queen swung her legs in boredom as she asked that question.

"That won't happen." Quince said as he continued looking at the documents.

"Oh? Why's that?" Queen asked, interested.

But Quince ignored her question as he focused his attention on the documents in front of him. Queen let out a sigh at his attitude.

Truthfully she already knew why. It was obvious that he placed his men on the watch. They have probably resorted to getting Noah and Albert drunk to distract them from Mr.Craw as they speak right now.

As for Stuart, another one is probably keeping guard in front of his room, in case something goes wrong.

Quince continued looking at the documents and occasionally circling a few words on it.

'Just what is he looking at?' Queen couldn't contain her curiosity as she stood up and glanced at Quince.

Seeing that his eyes were still focused on his precious document, she began tiptoeing towards him.

On the other hand, Quince knew the precise moment Queen stood up. She may have thought that his attention was on the paper, but it was far from it.

His focus was actually on her the whole time, wondering what she would do next. He knew she couldn't sit still and used the document as a bait to lure her wilder nature out.

He wasn't sure why he wanted to do that, after all he liked the peace and quiet his office offered. It has always been a sanctuary where he could complete all his tasks.

But at this moment, it simply wasn't. Definitely not with her here. He was trying to hold back a smile as he watched the little girl from the side of his eye tiptoeing towards the back of his chair.

Queen quickly reached behind his chair and couldn't help condemning him. 'If I were an assassin he would be dead by now. He is too carefree!'

She then pushed her face forward to look at the documents he was looking at. She didn't realized it but at this moment their faces were side by side and Quince could see every fine details on her face.

Quince secretly looked at her as she looked at the documents in his hands.

"If I were you, I would go with Steel Corp instead of Drill Corp." she suddenly said, jolting Quince out from his trance.

He was irritated with himself as he let down his guard and allowed her to actually come near him. He felt like he was in a constant battle with himself wanting to push her away, yet at the same time wanting to pull her near.

It was irrational and he had never felt this way before. Yet, there was little he could do to help it.

"It's ill mannered of you to suddenly read someone else's documents." He said coldly.

"But you are not someone else. You're my fiancé." She replied matter of factly.

"My point still stands." Quince replied as he bit out those words.

"Yeah well, let it continue standing then." Queen merely shrugged and looked at him with her usual wide smile.

Their faces were right next to each other and they could see each other in their eyes. Quince had the usual signature non expression on his face which made Queen bored. She soon lost interest and stood up straight.

"So? Steel or Drill?" She asked as she stood staring at him.

"Why steel and not drill?" He asked back.

"Drill is going to undertake a huge international construction project soon. Steel has good reputation and steady manpower but they are lacking a new project at the moment." Queen simply explained.

"A new project for Drill ? But there hasn't been any news in regard to this." Quince said with slightly wrinkled brows.

"Ah yes, there won't be news because Drill themselves don't know it yet. But that international company will give them the offer soon and they won't refuse." Queen grinned mischievously.

"How do you know this?" Quince was surprised but he didn't show it on his face. Even his own insider information did not know about this news.

"That's a secret." Queen gave him a wink before proceeding to walk back to her chair. But she accidentally kicked the table's leg and tripped over it.

She tried to find balance by swinging her hands about, to no avail. She soon found herself falling backwards. 'God dammit! Why am I so bloody clumsy?!'

She closed her eyes tight and waited for the pain.

Yet there was none. 'I feel like I'm sitting on something soft...but isn't the floor supposed to be hard?' She wondered with her eyes close.

"To think you actually dared to stand on top of that railing with how clumsy you are." A deep voice said beside her ear and she abruptly opened her eyes.

It was then that she realized what she was sitting on.She landed right on top of Quince's laps with his arms wrapped securely around her waist.
