26 The culprit (1)

"Enter!" Quince said and One promptly entered the room. The sight that greeted him was Queen sitting on the chair and Quince leaning casually against the table beside her. There was a somewhat ambiguous atmosphere in the room.

'Is it me or does the boss seem closer to her?' One pondered in his mind.

"Hello One! A pleasure to meet you once more."Queen smiled cheerfully as she greeted him.

One bowed down before saying, "Likewise Miss." He was still wearing that black mask and black clothes. He looked somewhat like a ninja to be honest.

'Wonder what he looks like beneath that mask.' Queen examined One as she thought about it.

"Report." Quince ordered shortly,snapping Queen to attention at what One had to say.

"Yes sir! I was disguised as a party guest and kept my eyes glued to the engineers' group. The three of them chatted amicably amongst one another though Mr.Noah kept flirting with..."

"Skip to the important part would you?" Queen was too excited to listen to the boring parts.

"Patience is a virtue." Quince crosses his arms as he eyed her.

"Not in this case Master Quince, we have a culprit to catch." Queen said excitedly.

To which Quince shook his head and waved his hand at One. It was a command to do as Queen says.

One was quite surprised to see his master indulging the Miss. That was because he didn't see the scene at the party. As of now he doesn't know that this woman is his master's fiancée so she is his future lady boss.

"When the lights went off, one of the engineers' shoes glowed and he quickly walked out of the ballroom to avoid suspicions. I followed him discreetly and saw his face." One said.

"Wait wait" Queen stopped him. "Only one of the engineers' shoes glowed?!"

She immediately looked at Quince and saw that he was looking at her too. They exchanged confused glances as two people walked into the room. 'of course it was 2!! I was almost squashed to death you know!!' Queen complained in her heart as she thought back to the incident. All in all, two of the engineers' shoes were supposed to glow blue.

The powder was a little toy Queen usually keeps with her. It has various side effects when combined with other ingredients. But its original property is to glow blue in the dark.

"Yes Miss, as I followed after him, I saw that it was Mr.Stuart Pline. He walked into his own room with a perplexed expression." One narrated the things he saw.

Queen and Quince remained quiet as they contemplated the things One reported to them.

Queen remembered talking to Mr.Stuart in the ballroom. He was a nice fellow in his thirties with a kind smile, whose future goal is to build a school for orphaned kids. Moreover, he certainly did not have 10 years of experience!

Queen voiced her thoughts aloud to Quince. To which Quince said, "You cannot judge a book by its cover." And he glanced at her meaningfully.

Queen was oblivious to the look he directed at her and said, "But what could be his motivation?And where did he even acquire the skills?"

"Guess we'll have to find out. One, contact Black and ask him to find out the relationships between all the 5 engineers. I want every detail." Quince ordered. He was determined to find out about this and bring justice to the victim!
