20 Surprise (3)

Queen was now twirling on the dance floor with a blonde hair, dreamy blue eyes and tall stranger. She had a charming smile on her face as she conversed with the stranger.

"So Miss Meilleure, what made you grace us mortals with your lovely presence?" The blonde haired man asked with a besotted look on his face.

"Well, it's the party of course Mister Blake." Queen laughed gracefully as she moved in accordance to the music.

"Then if I were to throw a party such as this, would you grace my party with your presence as well?" The gorgeous man asked with a wide hopeful smile.

"Why certainly Mister Blake, I would be honored to." Queen replied airily.

"No no, Miss Meilleure." He said as he twirled her,"The honor is all mine."

"Surely you jest!" Queen laughed breathily, unaffected by his flirtatious smile.

"Why would I ever?" He said as he pulled her closer. "You must know, you are the most delightful thing I have set my eyes on tonight."

"Though I do not know if that's true, I wouldn't oppose your judgement." Queen didn't even bat an eye as she replied effortlessly.

He laughed lightly as he heard her charming reply. He was liking her more and more.

As for Queen, she was finding him to be incredibly boring. He was saying such cheesy stuff, it was making her gag. Now if she were truly a girl, that is one without the memories of the man that she used to be, she may have been beyond flattered by his attention.

'Why is it that the first man I agreed to dance with turned out to be this way?' Queen sighed in her heart as her smile turned brighter to cover her emotions.

"The more you smile, the more beautiful you seem to be...truly like a Queen." He said with a dreamy sigh. She merely smiled even wider accepting her compliment.

'Oh lord, is this dance ever gonna end? I can't hold on anymore!!!' Queen wailed in her heart. 'This is why I stay away from men, they are so bloody annoying. Thank god my cat is not like that.'

Speaking of whom...Queen discreetly took a glance at his direction as this guy twirled her once more. He was still standing at the same spot looking at her.

Queen felt hot and cold at the same time. She was feeling guilty, like she had betrayed him somehow. 'Honestly it's just a dance though...but then again, she had always hated it when I went to play with Nicholas and left her with Kate.'

Quince stood in his usual corner as he stared at the couple dancing. He had no expression on his face, but at this time, he was exuding a dangerous aura. Like a predator waiting patiently for its prey, unknown when it will swiftly and fiercely attack the prey.

Every time he saw her smiling at that fool, he felt like blasting something. That idiot looked at her like she was the best thing he had ever seen. He was almost drooling and would no doubt kiss her feet.

As for her, she was flashing that smile every now and then, laughing and conversing with the fool as if she was utterly charmed by him.

He would have believed she was if not for that strange look in her eyes. Her smile turned from bright to a puppet like smile as if it was plastered on her face.

Seeing that he couldn't help chuckling softly,

his anger suddenly melted away. He didn't know what she was trying to achieve by doing what she clearly dislike, but he was glad nevertheless.

Glad that she was suffering. At least that's what he tried to believe. Not glad because she wasn't enjoying that fool's company. Definitely not.

As soon as the dance ended, Queen asked to be excused from Mister Blake. She would have run if proprietary allowed her to do so.

Queen quickly gulped down a glass of water to quench her thirst. 'Man that was tiring!' She couldn't help complaining.

Honestly, the reason she went to dance was merely to annoy Quince. She knew they were discussing an important topic that piqued his interest.

She wasn't going to give away the secrets so easily. Hence, she chose to walk away to make him follow and pester her about it....like how 'she' did when they were kids. But to her annoyance, he didn't!

She was so frustrated, she danced with the first man that asked her to.

'This is what I get for trying to bait a stone cold man. I keep forgetting that he's not that adorable little girl anymore. I just put myself through unnecessary grief for no reason!' Queen gulped down another glass as she continued complaining in her heart.

She banged the glass on the table before turning back to go look for that damn cat. However, as soon as she turned, he was there right behind her. The words he said next, literally shocked her.

"Miss Meilleure, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?"
