49 Meal for the sick

"Excuse me?" Quince asked skeptically.

Queen didn't even turn back to look at him as she continued on her quest to look for the kitchen.

'Should be there I think.' She thought as she turned right and entered.

'Voila! Found it.' Queen smiled victoriously as she walked straight to the cabinet.

"I don't need taking care of." Quince, whom followed her into the kitchen, suddenly said.

"Don't bother me, Master Quince. I'm busy." Queen ignored him as she got the pans and pots out.

She turned around only to see him standing in front of her. His face was close and she could feel his hot breath on her face. Even though he looked paler than usual, he still had his icy around him. Not to mention the sexiness that seems to ooze out of him.

'Still sick.' She thought. Sadly Queen was too dense to appreciate this.

"Miss Vancroft, do not think I have forgotten about what you did." Quince said, his eyes ablaze as he thought of everything that happened on the cruise.

"Whatever do you mean Master Quince?" She asked with a twinkle in her eyes.

"What you did was unacceptable." Quince stared at her and said seriously.

"Was it? Cause if I remembered correctly, someone actually acknowledged my actions." Queen said with a wicked smile.

Quince immediately thought of the kiss they shared and blushed. Queen saw that and wrinkled her eyebrows together.

"Move aside, you're red with fever. Let me go cook." She said worriedly and pushed Quince aside before walking over to the fridge.

Quince let out a secret sigh of relief and felt grateful for his fever for the first time. Honestly, he still couldn't come in terms with the fact that he kissed her. Passionately at that.

He wanted more even now and it was driving him crazy. He didn't understand his feelings but temporarily considered it to be that way because of his fever.

Queen's eyes glowed at the materials she saw inside. Clearly his housekeeper was doing an excellent job by restocking the food in the fridge.

Queen rampage the fridge as she looked for what she wanted.

Quince stood behind her and observed her actions. He saw her serious expression and didn't have the heart to stop her.

"Behave. Don't destroy my kitchen." Quince said before walking out the kitchen. He decided to leave her to her devices as he knew her stubbornness.

Queen saw his disappearing back and poked her tongue out. 'Destroy my foot you stinky cat.'

Queen soon smiled satisfactorily. 'Clever of him to know that it was going to be a losing battle on his end. Good call.'

Queen gave Quince compliments in her heart for his good sense of judgement. Unknowing to Quince, this would be one of the many more times he had to give in to her. It was definitely good practice for the future.

Queen hummed and took the rice out before washing it. She put it in the rice cooker and continued with her other tasks.

She cut the mushrooms into small pieces and the coriander into neat pieces. She prepped the other ingredients and was soon ready to cook. The only thing left was the rice.

She walked over to the fridge and decided to make breakfast for herself as well. 'What should I eat?'

Queen saw the pancake mix and wanted to have some. She took the various berries and honey out of the fridge. She soon started making pancakes and tea for herself.

Within 10 minutes, the rice was done and Queen started cooking mushroom congee for Quince and pancakes for herself.

She covered the pot and set the heat to low. As she was waiting for the congee too boil, she felt something soft nudged her leg. Startled, she immediately turned to see Cream Puff rubbing its face against her leg.

"Aww! Cream Puff!" Queen squealed and carried Cream Puff up in her arms. She smiled at him and petted his head lovingly.

Cream Puff made an extremely satisfied expression and closed his eyes with a smile. 'Owner's lady, pet me more.' He thought happily.

Queen laughed happily at the sight she saw and played with Cream Puff as she continued waiting.

Quince whom was waiting on the sofa with a book in his hand heard her soft laughter and felt something in his chest. It was light and strangely sweet. He unconsciously let out a warm gentle smile.

Queen soon carried the dish over on a tray to Quince and put it on the small table in front of him. Quince saw a covered up bowl and a plate of pancakes topped with butter, berries and honey on it. There was also a cup of tea on the tray.

Queen passed the congee bowl over to Quince before wolfing down on her pancake. She was starving by then.

Quince watched her eat and turned to his own dish. He took the cover out and saw mushroom congee inside.

He looked over at Queen and couldn't help comparing their dishes. He knew he was sick and couldn't eat much but the comparison was simply too sad.

He ate the congee slowly, occasionally stealing glances at her pancake.

Queen didn't notice his stare at all as she was fully concentrated on her food. After she was done, she drank a cup of tea to wash down the pancake.

She turned to see that Quince already placed down his congee. There was more than half left in the bowl.

"That's way too less! You've gotta eat way more." Queen scolded him and immediately took the bowl up.

"I'm full." Quince replied shortly with an extremely cold tone. His tone was mostly due to the sight he had to endure earlier.

Queen blinked at him, surprised. While his tone was icily cold, there was a difference. It's not the same as before.

'It sounds as if he's sulking.' Queen thought before shaking her head at the absurdity of it.

"You gotta eat to recover Master Quince." Queen said and scooped the congee before pushing the spoon to Quince's mouth.

"Here, eat this. Say 'Ahhh'"
