50 Dishes

Quince narrowed his eyes as he stared at her. 'She acts like I'm a child.'

"Come on Master Quince! Open your mouth." Queen said in a particularly sweet tone as she pushed the spoon closer to his mouth.

Quince narrowed his eyes further at the tone she used. He let out a menacing aura which Queen completely ignored.

"Miss Van..." Quince opened his mouth to giver her a piece of his mind but Queen shoved the spoon right into his mouth instead.

"There, there! Good boy!" Queen smiled happily as she watched Quince forcefully chewed his food before swallowing it down.

"Miss V..." Quince opened his mouth to scold her once more but Queen was prepared.

Another spoonful of food was forcefully pushed into his mouth once more.

Queen held back her laughter at how icy Quince looked. He immediately snatched the bowl from Queen and kept it on his lap.

"Miss Vancroft, what you did was rude, condescending and completely out of line!" Quince said angrily. His voice was at the 0 degree Celsius point by now. The more angry he was, the colder his voice became.

"Pray tell how Master Quince? I was merely concerned about my fiancé and saw fit to feed him food." Queen batted her eyes at him innocently with mock confusion on her face.

"Concerned?" Quince uttered the word in an extremely low tone. "The Vancrofts show their concern by shoving food in someone's mouth?"

"Exactly!" Queen replied looking happy that he understood, much to Quince's chagrin. He was on the verge of breaking something to cool down his anger.

"Since we pride ourselves on food and beverages, making food for someone is our form of highest respect. Feeding someone is the sign that we consider that person to be our own." Queen babbled on.

Quince almost threw her out of the house but as soon as he heard her words, he calmed down instantly.

He didn't completely believe her words because he knew it was just an excuse to shove food down his throat but something in her sentence made him pause.

"So you mean to say that the reason you 'fed' me was because you consider me yours?" He asked with a rare teasing smile that showed the dimples on his face. His eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint and quickly passed by.

"Of course!" Queen said with her usual cheery smile, unaware that she had fallen into his trap.

"Then can I also assume that you are mine?" He continued asking.

Queen felt like his sentence sounded strange somehow but she didn't think much of it before simply nodding.

"Yes. You are mine and I am yours." Queen gave her confirmation.

Quince had a satisfied smile on his face before saying, "Good. Remember your words."

Queen felt confused but she didn't refute him.

Quince continued eating his food now that he was feeling better. He finished it before carrying both his plate and hers to the kitchen.

"I can wash those." Queen said as she walked behind him and Cream Puff followed behind her.

They formed a line of three as they walked to the kitchen.

"It's alright. You already cooked, I can do the dishes." Quince said simply.

"But you're sick!" She said and rushed to his side. He was now standing in front of the kitchen sink ready to wash the dishes.

"I'm sick not helpless." Quince said simply and started washing the plates.

"Let me help." Queen said before snatching the plate from his hand. Quince didn't refuse her and went on to washing the other dish.

As they stood side by side scrubbing the dishes, there was a harmony created in the atmosphere. Queen hummed softly and Quince hearing her, had a light smile on his face. The sunshine shone in from the window, casting a soft glow in the kitchen.

'Hmm how peaceful...' Queen thought as she continued humming. She was really happy to be beside her cat once more. 'It's been so long since we were together...'

Queen was suddenly sad as she remembered her dream from this morning. She fell into a daze as she thought of what happened.

Quince turned to look at Queen as he couldn't hear her soft hum anymore. He was surprised to see that she was in a daze.

She was still moving but it was in slow motion and her eyes looked lost. Her expression looked so much like another person that he knows....

'Clickk' Quince snapper his fingers in front of Queen, waking her up from her daze.

"What are you thinking of?" Quince said in his usual cool tone.

Queen immediately turned to look at Quince with her usual mischievous gaze and replied, "You."

"I'm flattered Miss Vancroft. Would you like to tell me what about me in particular were you thinking of?" Quince asked as he snatched the last plate from Queen's hand to wash it.

"Nothing you should know about Master Quince." Queen smiled and wiped her hands on the cloth laid beside the sink.

"Hmm..." Quince let out a disinterest reply and concentrated on his task. Meanwhile, Queen turned her attention to Cream Puff and played with him instead.

"So weird for a cat to have a dog as a pet." She commented as she rubbed Cream Puff ears softly.

"I'm a human, in case you haven't noticed Miss Vancroft. Would you like me to recommend an optometrist to you?" Quince said nonchalantly as he wiped his hands on the cloth.

"That won't be necessary Master Quince. Thank you for your kindness." Queen said cheerily. 'Stinky Cat! You're the one that needs an optometrist! Your whole family needs an optometrist!'

"Anything for my fiancée." Quince said as he walked out of the kitchen.

Queen followed him but stopped as she saw that he was headed towards the stairs.

"Are you going to sleep?" She asked.

"You're free to go home Miss Vancroft. Thank you for your help. You can now report back to my mother that you had completed your duty." Quince ignored her question before asking her to leave.

"Oh no you don't!" Queen said as she glared at him. "You are not going to get rid of me that easily. If you don't mind, I would like to stay for some more."

Quince knew there was no convincing her so he merely shrugged before saying,"Suit yourself Miss Vancroft. If you would excuse me."

With that sentence, he walked up to his room without looking back.
