55 Caught

"So what did you get?" Queen asked curiously.

"I'm not allowed to tell you." Quince replied simply.

"Humph boring." Queen said before picking up her card. It says,'Advantage in the jungle area. 10 jaguars are at your beck and call. One jaguar can kill 0.5 normal soldier.'

'Nice.' Queen exclaimed in her heart. 'Now I just gotta get the attack mode.'

Quince picked the next card in the other deck. He looked at it and kept the card down.

"Your turn." He said.

Queen glanced over at his side of the board to see that he has 60 normal soldiers in the jungle area. She has 60 normal soldiers, and with the 10 jaguars as the advantage, she would be able to defeat him.

She picked up the order card and the word was 'Attack.'

Queen smiled cockily before saying,"I got attack. I wish to attack your jungle area." As soon as she was done, she flipped open her card that gives her advantages with the jaguar.

"And I want to add this jaguar card to my advantage."

Quince read the card in her hand, but before she could make a move, he opened the card in his hand. "I got defense." Then he flipped the other card open which says,'You have 5 bomb traps, attack or defense up to 5 soldier, for any area.'

"I want to use this card for my jungle area."

This means both sides had equal people and the the battle ended in a neutral stance.

"Humph. Not bad." Queen said grudgingly. She was annoyed because she thought she would be able to wipe out his soldiers. But the damn cat got a pretty cool defense up his sleeve too.

They both disposed the cards they already used before drawing fresh ones from the deck.

Just like that they passed 2 hours attacking and defending according to the cards they got.

Until the final showdown occurred:

"This is it Master Quince, you have only 1 major soldier and 50 normal soldiers left. I have 1 major soldier, 1 leader soldier and 50 normal soldiers left. I am going to win." Queen said with joy as she felt the victory within her grasp.

"You don't know that yet." Quince said and just as he reached out his hand to draw a car, Queen stopped him.

"Now, now Master Quince! Hold on for just a bit." Queen snatched the deck with instructions up and started shuffling them.

"It would be too boring if we end it just like that, don't you think? Let me shuffle the cards to prolong your loss for a bit longer." Queen said with a fox like smile on her face.

"It's your loss that you are delaying Miss Vancroft." Quince replied immediately. He watched carefully as Queen shuffled the cards.

Finally she put the deck down and Quince withdrew the card. He read the instructions on his card and kept a neutral expression.

Seeing that, Queen laughed madly in her heart. Why is she laughing you ask? That's because she cheated! The card is his hand is merely to add one normal soldier to his troop which will make him lose for sure.

No matter what order he get whether it is the attack, neutral or defend card!

Queen picked the next instruction card then it was Quince's turn to pick the order card, followed by Queen.

'Not bad.' Queen smiled happily as she saw the instruction on her card. '15 normal soldiers, can attack/defend any area.'

The order card she got was to 'attack.'

"With this I would like to end the game." Queen said and flipped open her cards with a super cool move channeling those famous card players.

Quince opened his card and as expected it was the normal soldier card and the order he got was 'defend.'

It was impossible to beat her. With that Queen won the game beautifully.

Queen began humming and packing up the game, happy about her win.

"Miss Vancroft. Don't you have something to say?" Quince glared at her as soon as he saw her doing that.

"Hmm...?" Queen placed her forefinger on her chin and pretended to think about it.

"Right I do! You lost Master Quince." Queen said with her best cunning/villainous face.

"Did I? Or is it because you cheated?" Quince asked as he narrowed his eyes at her. He knew she cheated ever since he saw her shuffling the cards.

When he was about to pick it up, he a saw a small red mark at the corner of the card and was immediately suspicious. As soon as he saw it he knew something was fishy.

Quince was waiting for Queen to be a decent human being and confessed about it. But she didn't.

"No I didn't." Queen looked shocked that he would make that sort of accusation.

"Then if I find a card with a red corner on it, it definitely wouldn't be the card that I picked just now?" Quince asked calmly.

"What are you talking about?" Queen laughed sheepishly as she tried to deny her words.

Quince merely stared at her with ice in his eyes.

Silence followed.

More silence followed.

Much more silence with a bit of ice followed.

Finally Queen gave up.

"Alright! I did it. But it was war strategy. All is fair in love and war." Queen said, refusing to plead guilty even though she admitted her wrong doing.

"True. But you got caught. And as the person who caught you, I have the right to punish you." Quince said as he looked at Queen meaningfully.
