73 Candy’s sake

"Hehehe" Queen started giggling then. "Aww did you believe me? Of course I know who you are! You're my kitty cat!"

Quince narrowed his eyes and the vein on his forehead throbbed twice.

"Yes! That mighty cold expression as if you hold the power of ice! Who could it be but you?!" Queen started laughing loudly at her own joke. She was even clutching her stomach!

'She's drunk, she's drunk...but I swear to god if she weren't.....' Quince took a deep breath before bringing his thoughts back to the present.

"Let's get your wig out." Quince said as he ignored her earlier words. He began escorting her to the bed. But halfway through, she suddenly stopped walking.

Remembering the kick earlier, Quince was on guard this time and looked at her cautiously, ready to deal with anything that might be thrown his way.

"I'm tired." Saying that, she slumped to the ground. Quince immediately held her up before she could fully sit on the carpeted room.

"What are you doing?" Quince asked worriedly.

"I wanna sleep!" Queen wailed loudly and started throwing a tantrum. Quince held her tighter and tried consoling her.

"Just a bit more and we are going to reach the bed." Quince coaxed.

"I don't want to walk anymore. I just want to sleep." Queen complained and stared at his face. Quince felt his heart melt at her pouty expression and the tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

"It's alright. I'll carry you." He said and wrapped his arms around Queen's waist before carrying her easily to the bed.

As soon as Queen reached the bed, she laid down on it, with the towel still wrapped around her and her wig firmly attached to her head.

"Get up Miss Vancroft, you still have to wear something." Quince said and pulled her up.

Quince turned around to grab his cotton shirt from the pile of clothes he had. The shirt was slightly big for him, so for her it should become something similar to a skirt.

"Wear this." He said and handed the shirt over to Queen. She took it and flung the towel off her body, which landed perfectly on Quince's head, covering his sight.

Quince veins throbbed beneath the towel as he patiently waited for her with his head covered. By now he was too exhausted to count the many wrongs she committed tonight.

He waited for a while until he didn't hear a sound coming from her.

He cautiously took the towel off his face, opening his eyes slightly to check whether Queen was decent.

He saw that she was lying peacefully on the bed, her eyes closed with his shirt on. Just as expected, it reached her knees and became a skirt for her.

"Miss Vancroft...." Quince shook her shoulder as he tried to wake her up.

When she didn't respond, Quince yanked her up straight, murmuring words of consolation as Queen complained and tried to go back to sleep.

Quince was now standing in front of the bed, while Queen sat in between his arms.

"Once I get the wig off, you'll be able to sleep." He said gently and got to work.

It took time but after a while, Queen stopped struggling under his gentle touch, making it easier for him.

Quince put all his concentration on taking her wig off. There were many pins attached to it and it would take quite some time to free her hair.

Queen sleepily looked up at Quince then, her eyes in a daze as she watched him.It took a while for realization to dawn in.

'Kitty cat in front of me.' She thought and impulsively reached her hands out to hug his waist just as Quince pulled her wig off.

Queen's brown caramel hair was released and it tumbled down into waves upon waves, resting gently on her back.

Quince stood frozen stiff at her unexpected touch. She liked to tease him but throughout their interaction, she doesn't usually initiate body contact unless she wants to win or annoy him.

"What's wrong?" He asked her gently as he gazed down at her. He couldn't see her expression as her face was hidden.

She shook her head against his stomach, making him feel slightly ticklish.

Then she abruptly raised her head up to stare at him. One of the most beautiful smiles graced her face as she looked at him with wide sparkly eyes.

"I'm just glad you're here." She said softly.

Quince was awestruck at her expression and at that moment he realized how much he missed her. He missed her eyes, almost golden with a touch of brown. He missed her hair, the soft touch making him almost dizzy.

But most of all he realized how much he missed her smile. So enchanting and brilliant as if containing all the brightness in the universe.

Quince knew he was being silly, after all it was just a few days since they last met. For candy's sake, she was with him the whole day today!

But then again, that person was Wan Lin. His mighty cold secretary, not his bubbly cheerful fiancée who loves teasing him.

Quince used one hand to hug her back and ran his other hand through her hair as he looked in her eyes. He smiled gently and said,

"I'm glad you're here too."

"Quince....." Queen murmured lightly and nestled her face against his stomach once more.

"Hmm....?" Quince asked in reply. He waited for a bit and when there was no movement from her, he slowly entangled her hands from his waist.

Only to see that she was fast asleep.

Quince smiled lightly and tucked her in, as she drove in to dreamland.
