The world used to be so much simpler to be a part of and live in. There were late night parties on the weekends, and people would go for late night jogs or walks without even blinking an eye. The didn't even assume that there could be something else out there. Scientist theorize that we descended into a different dimension or that our universe was sucked into a black hole. The reason for that theory is on the date July 19, 2015 a darkness creeped over the night sky. People watched as each star blinked out of the sky one by one from one side of the sky to the other. It seemed as if God was sliding a black piece of paper over the universe. It felt as if we were all alone. However, that was not the case.

My family went to go take a look outside so naturally I went with them. We saw as each star slowly blinked out of the sky. The full moon shone brighter than ever before. I remember how it was painful for me to look at something so bright white. For some reason I couldn't look away. Until a shriek from my mother alerted me the ground started to collapse in little pits all over the yard. I was thirteen at the time and my little sister was right next to me. Her blonde hair started tumbling in the wind. My mom yelled at me and her to get inside. I grabbed my sister's wrist and started running towards the back door. Blades of grass flattened beneath my feet. I tried to avoid tripping in the large rounded pits that started forming in the backyard. Pulling my little sister with strong yanks of my arm. Her breathing behind me was flooding my ears. The sound that was filling the air was that of horrendous screams from neighbors. Our parents were on our heels as they tried to rush us inside.

The pits started opening up blooming like dark flowers downward. They filled with dark water and it smelled of sulfur. Loud gurgling sounds erupted into the atmosphere. Terror struck me to my core. It was as if the gates of hell were opening up right before our eyes. I saw as my parents' feet reached the first step, then my foot with my bare soles hitting the cold concrete. Somehow, my parents beat us to the steps. As I pulled my sister around, so she could follow I was jerked back. My foot left the step and my back hit the ground and all the air I had left my body. An ear piercing scream filled the air as I turned to see my little sister with a giant hand wrapped around her ankle. This hand was humanoid however it was the size of s baseball mitt. I grabbed onto my sister and my parents grabbed onto me. Hallie was screaming at the top of her lungs, however I felt that I couldn't breathe let alone scream. Her dark brown eyes welled with tears, and those tears streamed across her freckled face unlike my own pale skin. My arms were wrapped under hers as I began to shift all my weight towards the porch, my parents were doing the same as they bear hugged me. The hand was in a death grip, and my sisters' foot was turning a reddish purple. The knuckles on the hand were turning white and fear struck my chest.

Tears welled up in my eyes at this moment I didn't know what was happening or how to stop it or if it would ever stop. We kept pulling however the more we pulled the hand the more we saw it was attached to something. Hallie was screaming at us or whatever had hold of her to stop. Other limbs started reaching out of the pits and started to claw at the grass. It looked like a scene from a zombie movie. My Parents had their arms wrapped around my waist and they kept pulling, and I kept holding on. Hallie kept panting and screaming at the top of her lungs. I however was silent.

The more we pulled the more the hand started to grow an arm. The arm was two times larger than it should've been, just like the hand. The skin was a glowey white that was almost translucent, lean muscle moved under the skin and the elbow started to bend. A head that was mopped with obsidian black hair started to rise up out of the water. We kept pulling. Another arm rose out of the water and grabbed my sisters' leg. I turned and looked, we were almost to the porch. Three more steps and we would be there I thought. I looked back and the head and part of the torso was out of the water. It looked so human, but it was too large. It was hunched over, and its hair curtained its face. We pulled again and heard a popping noise. My sister screamed and her body went limp passing out from the pain. Anger welled up inside of me and I screamed at the beast to let go.

Water splashed my face as he flipped his hair back. His features were pointed and sharp. His nose was slightly hooked and his lips were thin but curled into a sneer. Looking human but not quite. His eyes were like two onyx stones the size of tennis balls with the whites of his eyes looking like they were sculpted from marble.

"You want me to let go?" its raspy voice scratched my eardrums. Goosebumps crawled all over my skin. My long brown hair clung to the back of my neck. Its teeth were perfectly straight and almost blinding. Tears were streaming down my face. I shook my head yes. I hiccuped air into my body. "Alright," it said nonchalantly and in an eerie whisper. It grabbed my sister's ankle with two hands, twisted it and pulled. I heard a large snap and tearing sound.

I flew back and crashed into the porch. Warm liquid splattered onto my face. I felt my dads strong hands grab me by the shoulders and pull me and my sister inside. He shut and locked the door. I had stopped crying and watched the windows. The beings were pulling themselves out of the ground they were nude and all consisted of similar features, they all had the sharp features and black hair however it varied in cut and shape. There were male and female beings that were equal in height. They stood about eight feet tall when they were fully emerged from their pits. They all consisted of the same black eyes. The one that held onto my sister still had her foot. He looked at me pointed sneered. I looked at the floor and all I saw was red. Everything sounded like it was underwater. My vision was black around the edges, could it be my foot he was holding? I asked myself. Then I saw the black behind my eyelids and couldn't feel my body anymore.
