2 Buried

Liam's open his eye and he let out a scream. His hands flew up to his forehead to check for the hole that the bullet that should have claimed his life had left; as soon as he discovered that his head was complete, his breath slowed and he allowed himself to calm down and asses the situation he was currently in.

Liam's eyes flicker about trying to guess where he currently is but alas all that lay before him was darkness. He reached his hand into the air but it collided with something, and a hollow sound echoed throughout the small chamber which he was trapped in.

"Is anyone there, please let me out, I'm trapped in here," he screamed, but there were no answers to his pleas .

Liam places his hands on the top of the chamber and pushed hoping to break it, but outside of his expectations the lid simply slid off and dirt poured in smothering him.

"I can't breath" he screamed in his mind clawing at the dirt try to save himself. But for all the dirt that he managed to remove from his face more moved to take its place.

Minutes passed and this continued, until he realized that despite not being able to breath he was still clear headed and was not dizzy or lightheaded.

Liam didn't understand it but choose to get to take advantage of not have to breath to escape, and return to the surface. He clawed his way through the dirt almost as slowly swimming through the earth. The higher he rose the hotter it got, until it felt like his skin would melt off his bones if it got any hotter, but he persevered and kept moving.

A hand that appeared to be falling apart, with strips of skin hanging loosely off of it and bone exposed, shot out of the the ground ground clawed around for a hand hold, but did not find one. It was quickly joined by another, and together they worked to free the rest of the body from the ground.

The newly emerged person, a term that must be used loosely, was falling apart. One of its legs was lacking skin of any sort. The little skin that did remain on the body was filled with holes, and was a breeding ground for a multitude of bugs and mold. The only place on the body that lacked mold and parasites was the head, but all the skin on it face was sagging and drooping. It was a creature that any zombie from any movie world win a beauty pageant against. Any clothes that the thing may have been wearing before its death had long fallen apart, but it lacked a gender so it mattered not.

Surrounding it were countless others like, all rotting and falling apart. more were constantly digging their way from the ground, like earthworms during a rain. if one paid close enough attention one could notice that they were emerging from buried coffins.

The creature resided in a cavern extended farther than the eye could see in all direction other then up. The cavern was many hundreds of meters high, and the ceiling was unbroken continuing on parallel to the ground. The air was dyed blood red and was thick like a fog, and the ground was burnt like a fire had been raging on just moments before.

All of the humanoid creature were all walking in one direction except for one. That one was looking around in a daze obviously confused. It's eye, as it only had one, showed fear. It stumbled about in

confusion before it fell down.

That hideously deformed, long dead, poor excuse for a human was Liam.
