1 Playing A Non Playable Character

Olis felt something hard on his back. Something cold. Something that gave a metallic feeling.

'Tch! Can't you let me sleep peacefully?' His drowsy face frowned in displeasure. His mind was heavy, aching, but the hardness on his back did not help.

Fluttering his drowsy eyelids, Olis lazily yawned and opened his eyes. His surroundings were dim. Olis had to rub his eyes and adjust to the darkness to get a clear picture of his surroundings.

Rock, Black Rock!

Olis was calm, sweeping his eyes around he instantly guessed that he was inside a cave.

"Cave?!" Olis was confused. Why was he in a cave? Where was his house? Were his friends pulling a prank on him?

Ding!

Olis frowned. Hell's Paradise was Virtual Reality game he had heard a lot about but never played. Why was he in this game? And what does the interface mean by Model: NPC? Was he a NPC?

Olis looked down noticing his hands that were no different from before. He raised his nose and took a puff of air in. He could still smell. Olis felt no different than a human! How could he be an NPC? Wasn't NPC a Non Playable Character?

But what else could explain the interface before him?

"Sigh! I don't even have an exit option!" Olis's vision fell on the countdown at the top of his profile. He still seemed to have 200 days until the game launches!

"Sigh! I can only wait and see."

"Wu! Wuwu! Save me! Someone Save me!" Suddenly, Olis heard a pleading sound. He hesitated for a moment before looking to his right.

There, a young girl was chained. She seemed exhausted, but her call for help did not stop.

Seeing her, Olis's nose bled. That's right, she was naked.

"Damn!" He hurriedly looked away, only daring to see her from the corner of his eyes. She looked about 16, her face was chubby with hints of childishness, her chest was perfect, the size was accurate, neither too large, nor too small. Her legs were longs seemingly carved out of jade.

"Sigh! She looks too much like a kid with that face!" Olis felt that it was a pity. If she had an oval face with a hint of maturity in her eyes, she would pass as a natural temptresses, but now, she looked like she was a forceful combination of both, which Olis was not fond of.

"Little girl, why are you crying?" Olis took the initiative to ask.

The young girl stopped crying for help and looked at Olis as if he was a strange creature. "Wuuu! Wuuu!" She replied with another round of crying.

"Sigh!" Olis looked at the chains that held her back and made no movements to rescue her. Al had no reason to save this beauty! Moreover,

Seeing too many question marks on her information made Olis vigilant. After all, he knew nothing about this game called Hell's Paradise.

"Who are you?" He probed. Since he was rejected the previous time, he held no hope in getting a reply this time, but he still gave it a try.

But as expected, the young girl continued crying without giving him a second look.

"This is getting troublesome!" Having someone crying beside you all the time might make others irritated, but Olis was able to bear it due to his strange way of thinking about problems.

One day, Olis suddenly had inspiration about life. He thought, 'Earth is too big, and no matter what your circumstances are, you would never be able to change it!'

Since then, Olis felt any and all of his actions were meaningless. So what if you are a billionaire? Can you change the society?

So he thought why not just enjoy yourself while waiting for death to give your life a meaning?

But, at this moment, Olis felt strange. To be able to make him, a proper living human being a character in a game, it almost seemed like magic. Although it might not be as mysterious as the non existent magic, Olis still felt amazed.

'Can I change this world?' A seemingly fleeting thought caught Olis's attention. Can I? He seriously questioned and looked at the Interface before him. The 'Lvl 1' text caught his attention totally.

"If I can change this world, maybe, just maybe, I would be able to give a meaning to my life other my death!" Olis felt something change in him at this moment, the change was his determination!

But he knew, men are lazy creatures. He might be excited at this moment, but he would soon get bored and would just get lazy.

He had been lazy for the last 5 years of his life. From a fit and well shaped body, he had downgraded to a slightly fat and chubby man.

Olis knew it would be tough to change his lazy nature. It would take time, and he would need to take it slow. At this moment he became rational.

"Lvl 1, huh. I wonder how I can level up?"

Olis tried to exit the cave, but the cave was like a maze, constantly twisting and turning around. No matter which direction Olis took and no matter how careful he was, at the end, he would end up returning to the young girl's side.

"Is this a Situation in the game?" Olis frowned. Situations are important parts of any game's plot. For example, meeting the King of a kingdom can be a Situation. Abandoning the Situation was not possible most of the times once it was triggered.

In other words, a Situation often forces you to take specific actions to free yourself from it.

"Now, What are the actions I should take to exit this cave?" Olis laid down on his hard bed as his thoughts moved. The background sobbing of the little girl did not affect Olis's concentration.

Gruhhhhh!

Olis felt pain.... in his stomach. He was hungry and the desolate cave was partial, helping his hunger instead of him.

It had been an hour since he returned and he had a few assumptions that might help him get out of this cave.

His first assumption was that he did not have enough directional-sense at level 1. The directional-sense of his body depended on his Intelligence and in order to leave this cave, he would need to raise his Intelligence to a high enough level.

In this case, the cave Situation was forcing him to raise his Intelligence!

His second assumption was similar to first, but it involved the Luck attribute instead of Intelligence. His assumption was that he would find out the exit of the cave naturally, but the amount of time he needed depended on his Luck attribute. In this case the Situation was forcing him to spend his time.

His third assumption was that his exit had something to do with the little girl in front of him.

Since the little girl was stationed beside him when he woke up, he might need to do specific actions relating to her to exit the cave.

First, he might need to free her from her chains.

Second, he might need to make her speak and and make her tell him the path to the exit.

Third, he might need to come into some kind of 'contract' with her. After all, she might just be the owner of this cave. In this case, killing her might be the best choice.

But before all that, came Olis's stomach!!! Olis felt hunger. It was reasonable to think that he could starve to his death.

Even though Death could give meaning to his life, Olis felt that he should not die a Virgin! This was his baseline!

His eyes shined at the thought, but as he looked at the chubby faced girl, his interest waned. He would rather prefer a busty woman with passable looks than a busty women with a childish face.
