Chapter-62: Towards the Smokescreen Mountain

Althea, who was also standing by his side, didn't say anything and just held his hands tightly to console him.

But Ashmus didn't try to forget this feeling and turned it into his resolution and swore to himself to bring that same gentle smile on his mother's face..... even if he has to turn the world upside down for it.

"Ughhh..."

Suddenly, Eira who was lying green grass, groaned loudly and clenched her head tightly as she felt like her head was about to split in two.

A moment later, her eyes opened with difficulty and an indescribable glint appeared in her eyes for just a span of a second. But no one noticed that strange glint.

"Ugh... Why am i here?" She sat up and was confused for a bit as to why she was sleeping here. And when she tried to remember what had happened before she fainted, she felt a stinging pain in her head.

"Brother." Suddenly, she shouted and looked around her anxiously, trying to find her brother.

It seems she has remembered everything that had happened to her in this day. She also remembered the last thing she saw was her brother walking straight into the jaws of death.

When her eyes fell on Ashmus, her thumping heart quickly calmed down and her eyes reddened. She quickly ran towards him and said," Brother, you are okay...." Her heart bloomed with joy when she saw her brother standing there completely fine.

Ashmus on the other hand was astonished when he saw how his immature little sister was behaving.

He felt that there was something wrong with her. If it was Eira from two days before, she would have cried to exhaustion should she know that her brother was completely fine when she thought that he was about to die.

But the only thing he could see on her face was her relieved smile with tears in her red eyes. It was obvious he would be shocked when he saw this large of a chance in her character.

His only guess was that this little girl has experienced too much trauma in a single span of day which caused her state of mind to change drastically.

It must be extremely difficult for a innocent girl like her to witness her peaceful family being killed infront of her.

He sighed as he thought of that and decided not to tell her about the critical condition her mother was in. He would find a chance to let her know about it in the future.

"Brother?" Eira asked again when she saw him not speaking for a long time.

Ashmus quickly got out of his and smiled gentle as he patted her small head," I'm fine... Those fools could never kill your brother."

Eira felt her heart blossom when she felt his gentle touch and two rows of tear fell out of her eyes. Those tears were filled with happiness but there was also a tinge of sadness concealed there.

"I'm so glad you are fine. If something had happened to you, i-we....." She said with a trembling voice as tears continued to stream out of her eyes.

Althea, who was by the side felt heartbroken when she saw Eira and hugged her gently to console her.

After crying for a while in Althea's bosom, she separated from her and her eyes widened when she saw such a beautiful woman before her. Even though she was also a woman, she felt greatly inferior to this woman infront of her.

Ashmus knew what she was thinking so he introduced Althea as the woman whom they had saved and Eira was once again shocked.

But she could also understand why she had disguised herself before as she would invite even more trouble with her goddess type beauty.

But she didn't have the time to think for much because Ashmus suddenly said," Alright, that's enough time pass. We have to get out of here right now while its still dark. I don't want to have another encounter with the darkmoons."

"Eh? But brother, what about those assassins." Eira asked as she knew that those assassins would never let them leave here alive.

When she looked around trying to find the assassins, she saw that there was no one else here other than them and she also saw a large amount of skeletons scattered around this place.

She was confused by this because she remembered these skeletons weren't here when they first came here.

Just when she was about to ask about that to her brother, she noticed there was someone else other than them in this place.

It was the betrayer of their village, Kenzo. He was standing right behind Ashmus, lowering his head and carrying something large covered in clothes.

Her eyes widened and she pointed st him angrily and said,"You... Why are you here? Why are you still alive after killing those people."

Then she turned towards Ashmus and said," Brother, why are you not doing anything? Why don't you kill this murderer. He killed so many of children and women just because of his own selfishness. This kind of beast doesn't deserve to live." She shouted with a furious expression as she was totally disgusted by that guy.

"Calm down, Eira. I've already punished him for what he did. Now, he is but a servant of ours." Ashmus tried to calm her down and said.

"What! But why? This guy killed our villagers." Eira was shocked and questioned.

Ashmus sighed and said looat her eyes and said," That's what my thoughts were before. But now it's pointless even if we kill him as we can't bring them back to life.

Even if he wasn't the one who killed them, they would still have died today and they would have died more painfully than by poison.

Those cruel beasts would have done horrible things to those women before killing them... so it was better that they died painlessly by someone of their own.

And even though that was the case, kenzo has already gotten what he deserved for his sins. His father was killed because he trusted the wrong people and I'm now giving him a chance to avenge his father and fellow villagers."

"But... Sigh" Eira heard his words and sighed because what he said was totally reasonable. Even if those villagers didn't die today, they would still have died tomorrow for other reasons.

And even if Ashmus had saved them today, What about in the future. Is he going to save them whenever they are in problem. Ofcourse not.....

This is a cruel world where strong eats the weak. If you let someone else take control of your own life, you are already half step into your grave.

Even though those people were his fellow villagers, they weren't his family. And he was satisfied as long as he could save his own family.

"Humph...." Despite knowing this, Eira still couldn't forgive that betrayer and harrumphed, turning her head away as she didn't want to watch his disgusting face anymore.

Ashmus saw this and smiled. Looks like his little sister has matured for real.

"Alright, lets move everyone...." He said to the group and all of them started moving towards the giant mountain in the distance.

And there was a strange thing going with Eira. Even as she walked amidst of nauseating rotten skeletons, her face didn't change for a bit and continued to walk with Luna in her arms.

Hii--- Author here.......

Finally, the goddamn prologue is over. I mainly focused on character development and story development. There are also some mysteries which you can only find out if you stay tuned.

I know Vol-1 is a little lengthy and boring, but I didn't want to rush my story too much and wanted to express all my feelings into it.

Thank you for reading...... if anyone even reads my novel.

But anyway, real story starts now.........
