Chapter-16: Ambush in the forest

"Congratulations. You have managed to stay alive till the end. That's formidable." He said to elder yoel.

"How can you even stay calm even though so many of your people died." Elder looked at him and said.

"Sigh..... I am also felling sad for these people. They are so pitiful. Even if i can complete this mission, the higher-ups will surely punish me for losing so many men. " The masked person said while looking around. There wasn't even a shred of sorrow in his eyes. There was only mockery.

"You are a hypocrite. And I am getting a strong felling that you will die soon because of your craziness." Elder yoel shook his head and said with a scornful expression on his face.

"Die! Me? Who would even kill me if i tread my every step carefully?"

"Who knows? There are all kinds of accident in this world. Maybe, one will happen to you some day." Grandpa laughed in mockery.

The masked person narrowed his eyes clearly annoyed by hearing Grandpa's words. But before he could say anything, Grandpa interrupted him.

"You are going to kill me right. Well you don't have to worry about that. I would rather die by my own hands than letting you kill me." Grandpa said in a low voice.

He rose his sword and thrusted it into his heart, ending his life. There were no hesitation on his face when he fell down by his son's corpse.

But there was a little regret in his eyes. He couldn't see his grandchildren one last time before he died.

The masked person looked at the corpses of the father and son and after while, he shifted his gaze to a certain direction.

Coincidentally, the way he was looking at was the path in which Ashmus led the villagers out of the village.

Then a faint smile appeared on his face behind the white mask.

. . . . .

Currently, 2 miles away from the village, a lot of people were running relentlessly. There were mostly children and women in the group.

All of them had lifeless looks on their faces and were sobbing in a low tone.

At the front, Ash was leading the group while holding his unconscious mother in his arms, his eyes were a little watery.

Eira was holding Luna in her arms. She was crying sorrowfully, because she might never see her father and grandfather ever again.

When the siblings thought of this, they felt their heart breaking into thousand pieces.

They remembered their childhood, when thier father and grandfather played with them and rised them with love.

Ashmus remembered time spent with his grandfather, when he was training him. His first time in the mountains with his grandfather and how they fought together.

He felt enraged, when he realised that he won't be able to see them again.

He has to make the best use of this precious time, his father and grandfather paid their paid thier lives for.

He didn't have time to think about much longer because the path ahead was devided into two.

Ash asked the young boy, " Which way shoud we go?"

"If we take the left path, it will take at least 5 days to get out of the forest but once we are out, we can find a small town and take refuge there." Kenzo replied.

"Then if we take the right one." The young girl asked.

"Uhh.... We will reach the base of the Shadowsmokes mountain. So it will be better if we don't go that way." The boy said nervously.

"No! We will take the right path." At this time the blue haired girl said looking towards the right path.

"But why? There are a lot of ferocious beasts that roams at the base, if we go there, we will be endangered." Kenzo said looking shocked.

"It will take more than 5 days to reach the town with such a large group of children and women. And we don't even have any rations to feed them. If we take the left path, they will surely die before we can even reach the town." She replied.

Kenzo didn't say anything and lowered his head, " I'm sorry. I didn't think about that."

"She is right... We should take the right path. There should still be some people of the village that guards the mountain post. If we can reach there, we can get their help." Ashmus agreed with her words.

Then he started sprinting in the right path. The others also followed behind him.

After running for atleast 2 miles more. Ash was starting to feel a little weird. But he couldn't find the reason for his notion.

The blue haired girl, who was silent all this time, also felt that something was not right. She started looking around the place.

Suddenly, she looked ahead into the distance and shouted with a loud voice," STOP... Everyone, Don't advance any further."

Ashmus and others, who were surprised by her shout, hurriedly stopped.

But Eira who was absent minded the whole time because of her sadness didn't hear her shout and continued to run ahead while holding Luna in her arms.

After taking atleast 5 steps, a 'click' sounded and countless sharp arrows moved towards her in a extremely fast speed.

Ashmus, who saw the amount of arrows, was frightened and his face paled.

If these arrows landed, there would be no way, Eira would survive. If Eira dies here, then he won't be able to show his face to his mother.

He prepared to dash ahead to save Eira, who was just about to be impaled by countless impailed

But before he could do it, the blue haired girl's figure flashed and she disappeared from her palce. No one could see how she disappeared.

She then appeared beside Eira and Luna and grabbed the two of them and dragged them back before the arrows could touch them.

Ashmus, who wanted to go, suddenly stopped his body when he saw that his sister has already disappeared from the palce she was standing.

He looked to his side and realised that, they have already been saved from death. it was the blue haired girl who had saved them.
