2 Chapter 2: I'm Married???

Mia woke up to a throbbing headache. She looked around her, her vision blurry but slowly recovering and tried hard to make out her surroundings. Mia felt her heart drop as the place still felt foreign, unfamiliar and although the room was rich and luxurious she felt out of place. She so wished that this was a bad dream and when she awoke, she would awake to her own tiny apartment. She tried to make sense of her surroundings and tried hard to remember any details leading up to her waking up in this very bedroom.

"My head . . . aaaaaaaarrrggggghhh" Mia spoke slowly while kicking off the softest quilts and blankets on top of her, and she reached her hand to stabilize herself to get up. The bedsheets and the pillowcases were made of silk and made her gape from the luxurious feeling to it. She was questioning to herself, "Am I dreaming? Wake up, wake up, wake up." As she questioned herself, she kept tapping her head as if it would knock some memories how she came here.

"Don't." A deep voice came from besides her, startling her.

There was a man sitting in the velvet wing chair. Mia was startled but kept her composure quickly. The man had dark hair, porcelain skin and dark eyes. He was beautiful to look at. His high bridged nose, his dark full eyebrows and his cheekbones were cut to perfection.

The dark haired man got up from the chair and came closer. As he did so, Mia noticed that he had the clearest skin and it was pale. Pale enough that it looked as if his skin was glowing like one of her glow in the dark, glow-stick she bought for fun at a concert.

He raised his hand closer to Mia's face and Mia instinctively moved back. She had a feeling of uncertainty about this. "Don't touch me" Mia hissed at the dark haired man.The man had his hand in mid air for a good second and seeing Mia back away, his expression turned lifeless, his eyes that bore into her was full of rage and spite. Mia felt a chill go down her spine and tried her best to suppress the building fear within.

But all the man did was prop up her pillow so she could lean on it and rest. He looked at her quizzically and then took her hand to check her pulse point. Mia tried to free her hand away from him but his grip was firm and her hands were already petite enough but now in front of his, it looked even smaller.

Mia was annoyed by the man. He didn't speak a word after and he kept on searching all over her face with a look of concern. "Who are you? Why are you doing this to me? Where am I? Why am I even here?", Mia asked with anger creeping to her words and her pitch higher than she anticipated but the man simply kept mum, aggravating her further.

Silence.

After a good five minutes of silence, Mia's face was red with anger and her chest was puffed up in sheer madness and her breathing turned heavy. "@#$$!%%*(@$%&*&$#!#%", she cursed every profanity in the english dictionary that she knew.

The man looked up, stared at her sternly and simply said, "Language."

The way he looked at her with his dark eyes, Mia could feel that his already dark eyes got even more darker and sinister. Something about him and his eyes, Mia could sense her fear seep in again. She wasn't someone to be bullied easily but the way he looked at her, it seemed he was giving her a warning not to try again. Mia backed off and decided to shut her mouth before another curse came out.

He finally spoke after awhile when he was done checking her pulse and moved to feel her temperature by placing his hand on her forehead. "How are you feeling?", he asked with his reserved face.

Mia didn't speak. She was unsure what to say. She just wanted to know how she came about in this place and find her way back home. But he wasn't responding to her. Sensing her hesitation, he offered, "I will tell you in due time but first, are you feeling unwell anywhere?"

"No. Not really. I had a slight headache before but now I'm fine." Mia spoke finally after contemplating whether she should play the silence game. She was starting to loathe the beautiful man before her. He just annoyed her greatly for some reason and she had just met him for the first time.

He finally placed his hands down and asked, "If it hurts anywhere, do let me know as soon as possible?"

Mia looked at him with her eyes going up and down, judging him. 'Who the heck is he? What does he want with me?' before finally responding, "Sure." Mia was unsure why she said that, she really wanted to do the opposite and irritate him but there was a wave of uncertainty that washed over about this man to her. She was always a brave one, too brave that it was stupid her best-friend Karen would say. Yet she was no doubt fearful of him. 'You should always be careful of the ones with little to say.' Mia's head rang with the warning words of her orphanage co-ordinator who had once said to her.

There was an awkward silence between the man and Mia. Mia was a talker and for the first time in her life, she really had nothing to say. If only Karen could see, Karen's eyes would have popped out of her socket. Where was Karen, Mia wondered and she missed her immensely. A knock on the door resounded, breaking the silence. Mia silently thanked the person knocking.

"Master. The food is here." A voice came from behind the door.

As soon as the word food was heard, Mia's stomach thundered and growled. Both the man and Mia looked at her stomach and then their gaze met each other. Mia's tried to laugh it off but it came off weird. The man had no change in expression but his eyes looked a little softer. Maybe not, Mia thought. 'And what the hell is this, the 13th century? Who says "Master" anyways?', Mia pondered on the strange address.

"Right." The man spoke and the voice entered. The voice belong to a middle aged well-dressed gentleman. He placed the food cart in front of Mia and she looked at it surreptitiously.

"Thank you, Gerard.", the dark haired man spoke. "Is this for me?", Mia asked sniffing above the food and looking at the man named Gerard. Gerard nodded and opened the tray and she looked at it and was pleased. She picked up the fork and stuffed her face with it and was delighted by the tasted started to make noises while eating. "Hmmm, omg. Oh my gawd! Oh... hmmm."

She realized Gerard and the dark haired man was looking at her, perhaps her savage ways had shocked both of them. "This tastes really good and thank you.", she spoke up to both of them. Gerard simply nodded and the dark haired man kept looking at her, again no expression.

"Master. The creature is also here. Shall I send for it?", Gerard spoke, addressing to the dark haired man. The dark haired man nodded and Gerard left with a bow.

"Hey mister. Dude? I mean Master?", Mia spoke while eating. Mia knew it was not that great of a manner to talk with her mouth full but she was really hungry plus she needed to know where she was and what time it was before she was late for her part-time job. In the midst of everything, she had forgotten that she had work plus she had an assignment that she needed to submit by the end of the day.

"Dante.", the man spoke.

"Ah what te?", Mia asked confused.

"Call me Dante.", the dark haired man spoke again.

"Oh okay. Dante. My name is Mia. Where am I? I'm going to be late for work. Why am I here?", Mia bombarded her questions to Dante.

Dante was silent for awhile and he looked at her straight. 'Geez the man's stare is unnerving.', Mia thought to herself and felt her cringe a little in fear. Mia was always the daredevil and this was the second time in her life she felt fear. Growing up in an orphanage, Mia knew how tough the world was and it was not a kind world, especially to people like her who came from nothing and had nothing. Mia had gotten used to being looked down at and Karen was the only friend she had who knew everything about her and accepted her the way she was.

"I know who you are." Dante spoke.

"Oh", Mia exclaimed. "How come I've never seen you. I don't think I have met you before." Mia completed.

Dante looked at her. The way he looked at her, his eyes consumed her as a whole. It felt like he was sucking her soul. Mia shivered at the way he looked at her.

"I'm your husband." Dante finally spoke.

The moment Dante spoke, Mia spat out her food as she was choking on it. Cough cough cough. Dante was over her in a moment and patting her back for fear of suffocation. And Mia looked at him with a blank stare, not knowing what to say.

"Um right???", Mia finally spoke sarcastically after a good minute had passed. 'Psycho! Psycho ALERT!', Mia's head was in a frenzy, thinking of ways to get out of this sticky situation. RUN, her mind kept interjecting. No play dead, the other part of her mind said. Looking at Mia's face, Dante could figure out the scenarios playing in her little head. He was amused but at the same time he was terrified he might have scared her. Scaring her to run, was not his intention. He needed her with him, by his side.

"You were hurt and you hit your head. That's why you can't remember. But you are my wife and I am your husband.", Dante spoke pointing to his ring finger and he reached out to Mia's ring finger.

"Oh my GAWWD!", Mia started to hyperventilate. There was a DAMN ring on her RING finger and the ring on Dante's finger was the exact one with differing sizes obviously.

Dante wanted to reach out and hug her but kept his distance. Obviously, Mia needed time to process and hugging her would only cause her much distress. He reached out both his hands and started comforting her by rubbing her arms. "Don't touch me.", hissed Mia. Despite her warning, Dante didn't let go. He kept soothing and comforting her, rubbing her back.

Mia looked lost. Her head was hurting again. It now felt that her head was split in two. "Easy does it.", Dante practically cooed to her.

"I SAID DON'T TOUCH ME!", Mia screamed at Dante.

Dante stopped comforting her but his hands were still on her arms. Dante's eye went dark and Mia looked at it and could sense anger plastered over it. "Watch it.", Dante warned.

Mia shrunk back and whimpered exasperatedly, "I want to go home." Sensing her fear Dante spoke up. "I know it seems scary and daunting but I can assure you that I will not hurt you and I want the best for you. This is your home, our home and if you give it a chance you'll come to find that you like it here."

Mia was unsure about it. She looked around her and she didn't fit in. The room was huge and it was decorated by expensive ornaments and furniture. She missed her small cramped apartment with her full bed, small closet and her tiny kitchen where she tried out different recipes.

Suddenly her eyes teared up and the droplets in her eyes threatened to rain over.
