Science Fair Begins!

Giving one serious nod to himself, Heaven flexed the little amount of muscle he did have.

Tzz!

Suddenly, as if the arm had come to life, it began to move and twist.

Heaven watched with a serious gaze as he controlled it to perform various things. Grabbing beakers, setting them down, hand signs, writing…

It all seemed to work, but Heaven felt dissatisfied.

He could create something much better, but his limited resources could only create something like this.

It only costed him 6$ (~120$), which was very good for such a high end robotic arm he made, but he felt limited.

He hated this feeling.

He didn't care if the current technology of the era was far behind what he needed because he knew he could create his own. But to do so, he would need various resources and materials.

Which was why he wanted to join the science fair.

Half an hour later, Heaven had made various adjustments to the arm. He removed unnecessary parts and amplified it's mobility and strength.

It was also much more durable.

With a light smile on his face, Heaven put away the complete arm.

"Ngh… what time is it?"

Finally waking up from her short nap, Helen opened her eyes softly before looking over at Heaven.

"It's 7:43 pm. Do you want to go to the dorms already?" Heaven asked as he looked over at her curiously.

He had already stored away the robotic arm and Hair Growth Spray. Now, he was only studying whilst waiting for Helen to wake up.

"Mm? Ah, yeah…" Helen said absentmindedly before yawning.

"Alright let's go," Heaven said as he packed his notebook.

He was done reading and studying everything the current Earth could offer in knowledge. Now, it was up to him to develop further and make his own discoveries.

Countless ideas and discoveries would make their ways into his mind and he would randomly write them down in his notebook.

They were merely placeholders whilst the true knowledge was in his mind.

"Mhm…"

Helen stood up and walked over groggily to Heaven's side before they walked out of the lab together.

Returning the key to the lab, Heaven sent Helen back before he went on back to the dorms as well.

Heaven looked up at the bright moon and he felt a good amount of determination to win the science fair.

"Let's see what I can accomplish!"

***

A week later, everything had gone off without a hitch.

Cameron no longer approached him, seemingly fearful of whatever was lurking around him.

Still, the beating he received from Elastigirl didn't deter Cameron from picking on other kids.

Although Heaven wanted to put a stop to Cameron's irrational behavior, he just didn't have the confidence to stand up to him.

With his red backpack on his back and his beard now gone, Heaven stood next to a small booth that presented his robotic arm.

Since it was a science fair, Heaven had to give a small presentation in it and prepared a trifold presentation cardboard poster. It had some key features of the robotic arm and concept drawings which didn't reveal much about the arm.

Heaven had scrutinizingly hid away anything that could allow other people to steal the invention or the design of his robotic arm.

He added unnecessary things that didn't affect the performance or weight. He even modified the robotic arm and continuously improved it over the week.

The difference between the current version of the arm was vastly different compared to its first version. It was like the sun and the moon.

If he wasn't limited by things like money, the robotic hand would have been completely different.

Like dirt and gold.

Standing next to him was Helen with a smile on her face, encouraging Heaven.

"The science fair is about to start…" muttered Helen as she casted curious glances at the other students' projects.

The other students didn't have projects that were too eye-catching. Some were about the difference in species by using dogs and wolves as an example. The others were about using chemicals to create a liquid that could help the human body.

However, the only one that truly caught Heaven's attention was a certain project made by two older students who were studying biology.

'What Makes Up The Human Body? That sounds rather interesting…' thought Heaven as he specially looked over at them.

He read through their poster but eventually looked away in disappointment.

Rather than there being an actual project, it seemed more like a move to get funds from the judges who think the 'project' is a good idea to continue researching.

Nonetheless, the name of the project got Heaven thinking.

He began contemplating and eventually fell into a deep thought process, understanding and researching with what he knew.

Whilst Heaven was in his own world coming up with new ideas and comprehending others, Helen was feeling excited.

After seeing the projects of the other students, she felt confident that Heaven was going to win.

Their project was covered by a large piece of cloth, making several students look over at them curiously.

Bang!

Just before the science fair could start, an older student ran into the building with an excited look on his face.

Behind him were a group of kids as well pushing a cart with a large machine on top of it. To its side was a king and skim board with various buttons with the letters of the English alphabet on it.

On top of the machine, there was a poster with something written in it with broad letters.

[The First Step To The Future- Computers!]

Seeing that sign and the impressive size of the computer, Helen felt a little nervous. She turned to look at Heaven to warn him but fell silent upon seeing Heaven's serious and contemplating face.

Ding!

"Let us begin the judging!"

The principal of the college personally appeared and announced the beginning of the competition.

A group of five people began to move after hearing the principal. Four of them carried a clipboard whilst the last judge just walked around casually with a soft smirk on his face.

Looking at the last judge, Helen sighed in amazement, "Isn't that Howard Stark?"

The judges made their rounds, reviewing various projects.

The main protagonist of the day, Howard Stark, simply stood at the back as he looked at the various projects uninterestedly. Still, he took the chance seriously to look for an assistant.

Though if the projects of the rest in the science fair are alike to the first few they reviewed already, then Howard would be disappointed.

Still, as they reviewed more projects, Howard's smirk slowly whittled down.

Finally, he arrived before the project of the two biology students that proposed the question of what the body was made up of.

It was at this point where even Howard's eyes revealed some interest.

"What is the body made up of?"

One of the judges asked absentmindedly.

One of the duo from the project suddenly smiled before responding, "Yes! My partner and I were studying in our biology class when we suddenly had this idea.

What are we made of?"

The partner nodded to this and continued on, "We were looking at the human body and it's internal structure when an idea appeared in our heads.

If the human body is made up of organs and bones, who's to say that even those stuff can't also be made up of something? Is it something we can't see with the naked eyes? Something much smaller than cells?"

The eyes of the judges lit up and they excitedly wrote something on the papers before looking up at the students.

"Is there any theory or form of evidence that could be submitted as part of your project?"

Suddenly, dowsing cold water on the heads of the judges, Howard suddenly asked.

"N-no, but-"

"What a shame~! Let's go on to the next project, gentlemen," Howard stated as he left with a smile.

The judges followed behind Howard disappointedly.

Since he was looking for an assistant, Howard needed someone who could help propose solutions, not questions.

Even so, he wished the two luck from the back of his mind.

Phew!

Helen let out a sigh of relief.

She had been nervous the entire time from when Howard demonstrated interest to when he had begun speaking.

"Heaven… the judges are coming over here…" Helen whispered to Heaven as she pinched his waist weakly.

"L-let them come…" Heaven said as he woke up from his revelry, a small smile on his face.

Soon, standing before him were all five judges.

"Welcome. Today we will be taking a look at something that will not only help amputees and those with birth defects, but change the way we see technology," Heaven said before revealed the robotic arm underneath the cloth.

"An arm?!"

"An arm made of metal… a robotic arm?"

"Amazing…"

"But does it work?"

The four judges instantly felt intrigued and amazed by what Heaven showed them, even Howard, the fifth judge, appeared intrigued.

His eyes lit up and he took a step forward to take a closer look.

"These papers were specially prepared for you all to look at," Heaven mentioned as Helen already began to distribute pieces of paper.

The judges and Howard received the paper and looked at it as Heaven hooked up the robotic arm to himself.

The method to hook the arm to himself was much easier and simplified than before, even an extra wire that went to the nape of the neck.

"Today, I-I will demonstrate t-the robotic arm's capabilities."

With a nervous smile, Heaven took a deep breath and began to move the hand slowly.

He already had a couple of items prepared for the demonstration.

A cup filled with water, pen and paper, and some light weights.

"Hm," Howard interestingly looked at the robotic arm before turning to look at Heaven.

Okay… I can do this…

Heaven began moving the robotic arm with a serious look on his face.

Tzz!

Coming to life, the robotic arm moved with such life-like movements that it surprised the judges and Howard.

"Amazing…"

"I've never seen anything like it."

"How is he moving it?"

"Wires? But how are they being operated…"

Murmuring to themselves, they watched as Heaven completed the tasks with the robotic arm. He easily grabbed hold of the cup of water before moving it around without dropping a bit of it.

He moved it five times, all at different speeds before eventually setting it down.

"Great mobility…"

"A solid stability…"

"Mm… not shaky at all."

Moving onto the other two tasks, Heaven easily completed them.

Sweating from his nervousness, Heaven wiped the sweat away before turning to look at the judges in expectation.

"Hmm… not bad young man. Not bad," one of the judges mentioned as they nodded to Heaven before walking away.

"Huh? That's… i-it?"

Heaven felt weird as he watched the judges leave.

It was weird, just as Heaven thought he had won, they acted like his project wasn't that impressive.

'Was it not impressive?' Heaven thought as he looked at his robotic arm. 'Am I the only one who sees the potential in this?'

Shaking his head, Heaven covered the robotic arm with the cloth from before.

"Heaven, you-"

Helen was planning on consoling Heaven, but she noticed someone approaching Heaven. She closed her mouth and kept quiet as she watched in silence.

"Hm? Helen, what were you going to say?" Heaven asked as he turned to face her, wondering why she stopped midway while talking.

Yet the moment he sprang the question to her, he saw her shake her head with a smile.

"Hey kid…"

Suddenly, Heaven felt a hand on his shoulder, shocking him.

Jumping, Heaven turned around with a shocked look on his face.

"Haha… didn't know you were so jumpy," said Howard.

Heaven blushed.

"I-I…"

"Don't worry kid."

Lowering his head, Heaven mumbled, "H-how can I help you, s-sir?"

"In many ways, kid. In many ways…"

Hearing Howard constantly calling him 'kid', Heaven began to feel insulted.

There wasn't that big of an age difference between them.

He was 21 while Howard himself was at least 25!

'Is it because of my size and weak body?' Heaven thought.

Aside from his thin and weak body, Heaven only stood at a height of 5'3" (160 cm), making him not too short, but also not of average height. Maybe it was because all the nutrition he took in his life went directly to the development of his brain and not his body.

Sighing, Heaven decided to find a way to fix this. Maybe in the distant future…
