3 Chapter 2

After Earl tried but failed, he made a bet with his friends he didn't give up, for him it was a challenge and he gladly accepted.

The only problem was that he was courting a girl but for the wrong reasons, he had no remorse but he knew that if his parents found out what he was doing especially his mother and sister they won't be happy.

His mother would whoop his ass and smack him hard, his father who always taught him to respect women would be disappointed.

Little did he know that this entire plan would backfire on him and this would not be the only time he would be running after the girl?

Earl finally succeeds in getting the girl and he was happy to prove to his friends that he was always right that no woman could resist his charms.

After all the dates and meeting up at nights, one look at Kathleen and he knew that she was falling for him but she didn't know how to confess it and this just got better for him it was like all females were nothing but sluts and playthings to him.

He never had a serious relationship ever in his life so he never understood the meaning of the word love, one thing he did know is that his parents were in love and one could see it in their eyes.

It was no different for his sister Annabelle, who recently got married to Mark, he wasn't rich just a normal guy who fell in love with a billionaires daughter.

I remember him always telling me that he was always terrified of my father as he thought he would never approve of him for his daughter's reason being that he wasn't rich.

People always thought that she would end up married to a 'Rich snob' as she puts it and to say it was always entertaining watching all those men cower in front of her when introduced t her it's like they were terrified of her.

How mark managed to survive and go my sister to fall for him wasn't all easy as he puts it, listening to the guy talk of him first meeting my sister was so hilarious he sure did sound like a certified storyteller.

Though I wanted to feel the same type of love they do I, felt like I was never destined for it I saw it as a punishment for all the things I did to the women I slept with and crushed their heart when I insulted them when they tried staying

It was like I was to never feel what others do and to be honest, I envied everyone who was in love, I'm even surprised that animals have a better love life than I do.

Kathleen finally met the guy who was persistent with her, and since she had never had a guy in her life who wanted to date her apart from just messing around she was willing on her part to give this a chance.

She had never experienced love on her part and it was a new feeling and journey she was willing to take.

Their friendship took off well and before she knew it they had started going on dates and not the friendly type of dates anymore, with this gesture she knew that they were taking the next step of this relationship, at least on her part she believed that.

He had even introduced her to his friends since the first time she ever saw them was when she served them.

It was weird and she didn't mean it as an offense but it was just that two of his friends stared at me with smirks plastered on their faces and later congratulated him in an even more weird way while the other just stared at me with no emotion.

It was like they knew something I didn't but she pushed all thoughts away and watched how Marco conversed freely with his friends, she knew no one and she was the only female present. She decided to keep to herself and only answer when spoken to.

At this point, I wasn't sure of my feelings for him before but sitting here watching him made my heart feel some type of away and there and then I knew that this was love; I just had to find a way to tell him.

I have never loved or been in love with anyone before so I didn't know what to expect but from all the people I have worked with, I saw how their love pieces just fell into place and how much they loved each other. I remember always envying them and wanting to have the same relationship they had, to have someone who loves and adores me, looks at me like I am the only woman in the world he sees and I guess I soon going to have all that.

All my thoughts and fantasies were then cut short when I felt someone's intense stare on me, and I did not feel at all easy because it was more of a glare than a stare and that someone was Luke, Marco's other best friend.

Marco and the other two excused themselves and I was left with Luke at the table and to be honest I was shivering because I was scared of him.

"Be careful" he warned me

"Huh"

I looked back at him with questioning eyes, I did not understand why he would warn me it wasn't like I was in any danger.

"Why would you tell me to be careful," I questioned back

"Not everyone is who they seem to be, and you look innocent have you never been told to never trust people blindly?"

Okay this guy was starting to creep me out I just shut my mouth and listened to him speak as much as I wanted to leave, something made me sit and listen to all he had to say.

"You have feelings for him and I can see it in your eyes much to the three idiots who can't tell. Look I'm not trying to scare you and you can go tell 'Marco' everything I will tell you right now it's up to you but I am just warning don't fall for someone who can't return the same feeling you have, especially if you were nothing but a conquest for him"

He said the last part whispering and the only words I could catch on were nothing and conquest, I didn't know whatever he said but I wondered why he would tell me all this. The weirdest part was how he said Marco's name questioning it and to with so much emphasis.

"And why are you telling me this again? How will you benefit in all this"

I asked since I felt like he was telling me all this as there was something in for him, I just couldn't shake the feeling.

"Look whether you think it benefits me in one way or another than resting assured that I won't be benefiting. It's now all up to you to believe me of keep on with this charades but just know I am the one who is always left back to fix every broken thing and this will not be the last time we meet if you ignore everything I just said"

When he finished saying what he said Marco walked back in and just like that Luke was quiet again it's like we didn't even converse, he just went back to showing his stoic face and his friends seemed unbothered, like they knew him inside and outside while I on the other side was trying to piece whatever he said.

It was like a puzzle and a riddle that I had to figure the answers all on my own and I could just ask him as he wouldn't tell.

Arrrgh this is so frustrating. I didn't want to tell Marco even though I had the chance it was like my mind chose to listen to Luke and the same time want to ignore him, so I did the only thing I knew and that was getting ready for my date tomorrow and I was ready to confess my feelings to him tomorrow.
