18 Chapter 16

I was furious at my dad and brother for just telling me to pack my bags and leave with Earl, that they had something important to do. I knew they were hiding something from me because the same day I left the café I walked in on them talking the minute they saw me they kept quiet, stealing glances at each other.

Even though it was more of spending a night, I wasn't comfortable but I could tell my son was and Earl's parents were more than excited to see their grandson again after the incident at the gala.

Right now we were all in the Living room watching Kyle's favourite anime show 'TMNT' chewing down popcorns, ever since I got here I tried all I could to avoid Earl and I can say that so far it did work the only time I saw him was at breakfast, even now he wasn't here.

But I guess I spoke too soon because he walked in

"Hey Kath can I speak to you alone"

I had all intentions of saying no but something in me just told me to shut up and hear him out. I stood up from the couch and walked towards him as he led me out towards the backyard near the rose garden.

"Kathy please I know this is the last thing you want to hear but will you go out with me? It's not a date, think of it hanging out and I promise I won't say anything to upset you, please"

I looked at him and he seemed so sincere yet scared for my answer though he did have a glint of hope in his eyes. I mean the guy did at least try even though my brain says no my heart wants to, so I listened to it.

"Okay I will go with you"

"Really?" he asked

He was surprised by my answer, I couldn't blame him because by how he tried to make me give him a chance made me smile he did try a lot, I had to cut him some slack.

"Yeah just tell me when, where and the time I will be there"

"No" I looked at him confused

"I-I mean there is no need I was hoping we would go tomorrow at ten and I will pick you up and just dress casual nothing fancy"

I laughed at the end because the look on his face right now was so priceless. It's the same look Kyle gives me every time I caught him stealing ice cream just before dinner. He looks so adorable yet so much like our five-year-old son.

"Why are you laughing?" he frowned looking at me

"Oh it's nothing" I smirked and shrugged and turned to leave

"Kathy" he called holding on to my hand

"What?"

"Your face says it's more than nothing"

"Okay fine, it's because your face is just adorable like Kyle's when he knows I caught him doing something he wasn't supposed to"

"Well okay but I am not adorable, I am handsome and sexy missy," he said sending me a playful glare

"Fine Mr whatever floats in your boat," I said and walked away from him laughing.

I walked into the room just the same time my phone rang looking at the caller ID it was father and I was already preparing words for him.

M - Hello, Kathy I want you to come home tomorrow. We are on a plane back and we will arrive at midnight, Earl will drop you.

K - Hold on old man you can't just call to tell me what to do when you went MIA on me after telling me no wait scratch that, making me leave with Earl.

M - It was an emergency and I couldn't tell you but I will when we get back and I am sure you will understand why and I'm sorry for leaving just like that.

K - Ugh fine but the next time you ever do something like that, I won't be this forgiving.

I heard him laugh immediately I said that and I was irritated that he was happy at my annoyed self even though is his fault. I ended the call and walked to the couch next to Kyle and slumped on it furiously.

"Mom, what's up?"

"Nothing, just your grandfather getting on my nerves, I sometimes want to punch him. I swear your uncle's traits are rubbing on him." I said sounding irritated

"Wow more shows for me then"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh nothing," he said shrugging I didn't even bother to ask further one I didn't want to and two he won't tell me. After a day of lazing around, we all retired for bed.

The next day I woke up knowing father had something g very important to tell me and they were expecting me today after breakfast, Earl did offer to drop me home but our son decided he wanted to stay for a bit longer with his grandparents so I let him.

After dropping me off he left telling me he would be back to pick me for our date, later on, I waved at him as he drove off. Walking into the house, I was met with two unfamiliar faces, a woman who looked to be in her late sixties and a man who almost resembled me judging that he seemed to be the same age as I, I was confused.

As always the most annoying being appeared from the kitchen eating cookies and milk, wait are those mine? I asked myself but when he saw me and tried hiding them behind his back I got my answers and people the fight began as usual.

"Sis you are back early, how are you? Was the stay at Earl's fun? And how is my little nephew doing?" he started throwing questions at me but I was having none of that

"You idiot why are you eating my cookies," I said while glaring at him

"This" he mentioned at them, "They are not your cookies, yours are safe in the refrigerator" yes I love my cookies cold and crunchy so I store all of them there.

"If they are not mine then why are you squirming?"

I saw him getting ready to flee but I wasn't going to let go of him that easily, I dashed towards him and tackled him to the ground, shattering the glass of milk he had in his hand. The two new faces just stared at us amused while we just kept on throwing words at each other until father walked in.

"Now what is going on with the two of you?"

"He started it," I said

"No, she started it"

Now we were both glaring at each other none of us wanting to back off first. Father just sighed and signaled us to walk with him to the living room while the house help cleaned up the mess we made.

"Whatever the fight was I don't care because it is not the reason I called you back Kath"

"Okay, then what is it about?"

He explained to me the reason for the dreams and nightmares I used to have in my sleep and why I had them then pointed at the guy whom I saw earlier and told me that he was my twin brother.

"Wait what are you talking about?"

"Sweetheart Adam here is your twin brother"
