21 Chapter 21: Night raid and Mess.
The backup, who has a gentle looking face, a pulled back hairline, wearing a black suit entered the clinic. Phil Coulson, a seventh level agent of SHIELD, goes to check on his teammates.
He received her emergency signal, he knew something wrong had happened in her mission. He tried to track her but the signal cut off. He notifies the headquarters about it, in which the director asks him to pull back.
After losing Barbara's position for a while, the Director already gives up hope. Coulson tries to roam around the area where the signal cuts off, trying to look for clues. He almost gives up. Then, his phone rings, and he finally finds her!
Upon entering the clinic, Coulson saw that Barbara is sitting in a wheelchair,by her side is a doctor who is taking off his white coat, and seems to be going home. Kai notices who is the backup, and he knows exactly who these guys are now.
"The novice village chief in the movie, Agent Phil Coulson." But he keeps maintaining a poker face. "It seems like I got entangled in the Snake Shields business."
The agent goes to the badly beaten woman, and asks her "Are you okay? What's going on?". He doesn't know what the mission is, he's only there because he's in the vicinity. "He saved me", Barbara tells Coulson everything that happened in the alley, but not her mission.
Coulson, who has a gentle smile on his face, nodded in understanding. He goes to Kai saying "Thank you for your help doctor. I'll take it from here." He held out his hand for a handshake, but Kai handed him a piece of paper to his hanging hand instead.
"This is my medical evaluation of her. She needs to go to the hospital for treatment immediately. And the next page is the bills for the surgery." He emphasises the treatment.
He'd be more polite, but he wants to go home now. He doesn't mind getting involved in Shields for now as he didn't do anything wrong. "Even if they want to say he killed someone, Where's the body? It has already turned into ashes."
Coulson took the document, and is trying to say "we have a few questions about the attack" but couldn't even start when the glass walls of the clinic shattered by a few black figures breaking into the clinic.
A figure lunges straight to Barbara, puts his hand on her neck, holds her up high, choking her. Coulson is already prepared to shoot, but Kai is faster.
Before the figure could finish his word "Did you think…. " *bang bang bang* three shots fired at him. Two to his torso, one to his head. His last words "Did you think you can escape" couldn't even be finished.
Barbara plops down on the wheelchair again, as the hand that is choking her is turning into ashes.
The other vampire at the door is now looking at the doctor. A vein pops out on Kai's forehead as he is very angry. "Do you know that if the glass break I couldn't open the clinic tomorrow you fu**ing bastards.!" he yelled at the pest.
Coulson looks at Kai with a complicated expression ."Is this really what you're gonna focus on now?", he scolded.
Seeing that Kai could handle himself, he goes to cover Barbara, who was incapacitated. When backup comes, she has allowed her guard down, and because of the meds, she is passed out. Coulson pulls Barbara behind the receptionist desk for cover.
The five vampires go to attack Kai first, as they thought he is the biggest threat.They are not wrong. He had to avoid many punches, claw attacks, kicks, but he did it all agilely. "It is hard to shoot while dodging, I need to upgrade the gunfighting skills"
Kai sees that Coulson is behind the receptionist desk, shooting at the vampire providing him cover. As Coulson uses a normal gun, he is not a threat to the creatures.
"You could give me a warning about the vampires." This is because of the problem with Shield. Always with the secrets. His gun is useless, while he is thinking about what to do, he hears Kai call him.
"Hey baldy, there's a light switch under the receptionist desk. Press it", Kai said urgently. Although he is strong, in front of him is definitely not someone who should know about it.
Coulson quickly searches for it, then he presses it without much thought. After he presses it, the UV lamp that Kai uses to sterilise the room turns on. The vampires scream as they are now burned by the UV light.
Kai took the advantage to kill 3 vampires while they were dumbfounded. 2 vampires had already escaped the light range,and retreated outside the clinic.
"Oh NO you don't!" He's not going to let them run away. Quickly he aimed at them who were retreating in different directions. *Bang *, one of them is over. He runs to the next one, and barely catches up with it before he leaves. "This is for my glass wall you bastards" *Bang Bang Bang *
After unloading the rain of bullets. He feels a bit better now. The situation escalated quickly and finished quickly. Coulson turns off the UV lamp when he sees Kai get back.
"Are you okay?" Coulson is relieved when he sees the doctor is fine. Looking at Kai's condition, although he is besieged by a number of vampires in a small space, he is unscathed. He earned Coulson's respect without even knowing about it.
Kai turns to Coulson, and says "the bills for the glass walls are on you". He went to check up on Barbara, leaving the stunned village chief.
"Luckily her condition didn't deteriorate." Coulson is feeling the urgency, he wants to move the environment in case more vampires come to the door. They are now defenceless.
Kai notices Coulson's worry, and says, " If you are worrying about the vampires, they wouldn't come". Coulson's eyes widened as his thoughts were guessed correctly by Kai.
"How do you know? ", Coulson asks inquisitively, as he is in awe about Kai. "It's almost daybreak," Kai said while pointing at the sky. The black sky now shows signs of orange hue, signalling that the night is over.
"I assume that the vampire wants to finish her off for whatever reason. You should take her away in a safe place now. As the vampire could find where she is, they might track her by smelling her blood."
That is actually true. A vampire found traces of blood and ashes in an alleyway, then used it to find Barbara." You seem to know a lot about vampires. "Coulson said. The doctor is now full of mysteries.
Kai smiles and says "Maybe vampires are rare for Americans, but in Latveria, it is normal to know how to fight vampires. It's even taught in school"
Coulson wants to ask more, as the day already comes, the crisis is passed for now. Kai looked at the door, feeling helpless. After saving Barbara, now the quest is at (9/10).he only needed one more to finish the quest.
Now the clinic is in a mess. Who knows how long it's gonna take for the clinic to reopen. Coulson knows what Kai is thinking as he remembers what Kai said when the vampires attack, and now Kai has a sad look looking at his clinic.
He offers "I will be responsible for the reconstruction of the clinic,you can put your mind at ease." After hearing that, Kai's mood brightened, "I'll appreciate it." Kai turned to Coulson, held out his hand and made the belated introduction. "Kai Vera." Coulson took Kai's hand and said. "Phil Coulson."
Kai then let Coulson deal with the aftermath. Many more agents come to seal the surrounding area, and deal with possible witnesses. As the clinic isn't gonna open today. Kai has a rare day of rest.

In a certain shield underground base.
Barbara is lying on a bed in the medical ward before Phil Coulson and a one-eyed pirate named Nick Fury comes in. "Director", Barbara saluted.
Nick Fury then asks about the information she gets. " The vampires are preparing for something called the Blood God ceremony." She then explained. Nick Fury becomes solemn after hearing that. Nick told Barbara to get well, and gave her 3 months off time.
Fury then turns to Phil and asks "What about the doctor, how much did you find out about him?"
Phil took out a file and said " Kai Vera, 31 years old, an immigrant doctor from Latveria. His family was dead during the previous dictator's reign, so he came to America."
"There's a record of him serving in the Latveria military before, and is a surgical specialist. He opened the clinic 4 months ago, giving treatment to people of Hell's Kitchen. "
"How about his fighting skill?" Nick Fury asks.
"He can hold his own under attack from 5 vampires, he can move agilely, compared to our best agent. He is a sharpshooter, all his shots are on target, But I don't think that is the most surprising thing about his director ", Phil said.
Fury allows Phil to continue." His surgical expertise is top notch. He can do complicated surgery in under 30 minutes, without any helpers. He can make the best decision at a critical time. If he didn't, Barbara would've died."
"The man is also obsessed with treating people as he opens his clinic for 20 hours a day, every single day. In the four months of business, the store had only closed down 2 times. " Phil said. He thinks Kai has an obsession about medical treatment.
There's also a record that he will go to people's houses to help them out. Kai has a near compulsive behaviour in his actions.
"Are you planning to ask him to join Shield? " Phil knows that people with compulsive behaviour are more likely to reject shields' invitations, but Kai's skill is to be desired.
"If needed to, I do hope it wouldn't come to that," Fury said. If the blood ceremony isn't blocked, then an imminent war between human and vampire will be unleashed.
Returning to his office, Fury makes a phone call to a certain half-vampire who wears sunglasses to discuss the action plan.

Kai doesn't care about the aftermath. He has a rare day's off in which he spends time with Skye. They went shopping, went to the movies, bought some essentials, and now Skye is tormented by Kai in hygiene.
"If you don't floss, no more candy.How could you have never flossed before?" Skye is bereft of her fun going out for the day, and now is flossing while Kai is watching her from the side.
Kai enjoyed Skye's misery, and then he checked on the ongoing quest. The planting trees quest is already completed. Save people is at (9/10), one more to go.
And the last quest is actually a revised quest from the mechanic. Originally the mechanic ask him to make an Iron man suit, but after persuasion, he changes his quest to

As the main body is busy with his tree's serum and experiment at the time. Kai is the one responsible for the ideas for it. He makes a surgical tool using a carbon-nanotube that can help in treating vascular blockage as his first invention.
He submitted the invention to the mechanic, and got an okay. He also submitted it to the World Health Organisation, in which his status in the medical community shot up.
The main body took over for the rest of the invention.He's going to finish it in a few weeks.
