22 CHAPTER TWENTY TWO I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN

The following night on the show, Tolu continued her story telling the people what happened as the aftermath of the beaten she gave to Monica.

Monica been badly bruised and with swollen face and bleeding mouth got back home and decided to sneak in through the back door, because she saw her father's vehicle in front of their house.

She knew her father would be very furious with her if she learned that she was battered and bruised this bad because she went out to fight over a guy he had forbidden her seeing.

So she decided to sneak into the house, nurse her injury and refused to see her dad till she would look okay, normally her dad doesn't call for them when he comes home every night, and sometimes they don't see each other for over a week.

This was what Monica prayed for as she was coming home from her battle field, but to her dismay her father choose today of all days to come home early and his car was sitting cool in front of their house, so she had no option than to sneaked through the back door into the house.

However, she was greatly shocked to meet her dad by the very back door she was to sneak through. She did not quickly noticed her father because he was standing behind the door fetching something

The old man saw her movement first and saw the way she was looking around in apprehension!

He knew immediately that something was very wrong with her, and this made him to look at her very closely and he was shocked to see how disheveled she looked, she looked like a person that army of thugs dished a punishment to.

Seeing her daughter like this he could not contained himself, he rushed out from where he stoiand and they almost collided on each other.

Monica froze on the spot with great fear as her father asked, "Where are you coming from? what happened to you and who were the people who beat you like this?"

She was tongue tied in shock and fear of been discovered sneaking into the house by her dad and of what he may do if he discover the truth!

When the man saw that she would not talk, he knew she must be guilty for the punishment dished out to her from where she was coming from, and she wondered what she could have done to deserve been battered like this. However, he was ready to fight the people who took law into their hands and beat his daughter like a lady of lowly birth who has no one to fight for her.

He shouted again on her, "Dog got your tongue, I asked you who were the people who beat you like this?"

To lessen his wrath, Monica decided to lie, she pointed in one direction and said, "One family down there"

Her old man asked her in annoyance, "what did you do to them, you killed their young one or stole from them?"

Monica said no, "I only went there to warn their daughter to leave my man alone, and they all began to fight me"

"And they beat you like this, which man were you fighting upon, I hope it was not that worthless fool who thought been born with good face like that of a woman is all that a man needed to marry a girl of noble birth?" Her dad asked her this and she could not respond, so the man knew it was Richie.

He was over furious to see Monica bruised all over for fighting over a man he told her not to move with again, he would have pounced on her and add to the beaten, but he loved her too much to beat her, so his anger was direct towards Richie and the people who beat her.

He shouted on her, "Now, do you see what I am saying that the boy is only after your body and my money, he is a gold digger! See how you were brutalised over a nonentity, a guy that no one could trace his family tree among the important people of our land, do you want to kill yourself over nobody when men of noble birth will soon come for you?"

Monica did not say a word, the man continued and said, "Well even if you want to commit suicide I will not allow it, these people who beat you, do you say they are living nearby?"

Monica answered and said, "Yes thew are living in the third street from here" Her old man said, "And those people living in that slum did not know that you are my daughter, and they beat you up like this, oh they will blame themselves for laying hands on you.

Immediately after saying this, he brought out his phone and called his lawyer, he explained to the lawyer what happened and asked the lawyer to make sure the entire family of Tolu were arrested that night and locked away for the whole week without bail.

The lawyer moved into action immediately after this instruction and the entire family of Tolu were rounded up and locked in a police cell. They could have stayed in that cell for the whole week because Tolu people were poor people who had nobody to fight for them, and the Police were taking side with Monica's father, especially when they saw how bruised she was; and the lie she told that they all joined hands to beat her.

She told this lie because it would be a shame to her to admit that Tolu a younger girl beat her up that way.

Since the Police refused to listen to their own side of the story, and she knew she would be missed in her office, she called Richie because he was his direct boss that would notice first his absence from work, more so that he was involved in this case, she informed him of all that happens.

Richie on his own called their MD because he was a bit closer to him. When the MD heard from the PM that Tolu truly was not guilty and the video of what Monica did in the office was shown to him, he took it upon himself to approach the police.

When the police saw him in their station and they knew that he was bigger than Monica's father in all ways and that he could drag them into trouble, they released Tolu and her family.

While they were there in the police station settling the case, the police having finally listen to Tolu and the witness from the company, they told Monica's father that his daughter was the guilty party in this case.

And they asked her to apologised to Tolu in there presence if she do not want the family to press for charges, reluctantly she apologised, and the trouble was settled. But before she would step out, Richie decide to add salt to their injury.

For right in the presence of her father he said, "I really loved to make you my wife, but your father all this while treat me like rubbish, and you too do not help matter with your senseless jealousy, so let me warn you in his presence now, do not let me see you again around my life, it is over between us.

Monica's heart nearly suffered cardiac arrest when she heard this, but there was nothing she could do with her father standing there. She remembered on the spot how she just lost her virginity to Richie two weeks ago.

Tolu,s family, Richie and the representative of their MD left, Monica's father hissed and said, " Good riddance to a bad rubbish!
