8 CHAPTER EIGHT THE HARMLESS MEMOIR IS A BOMB

The Kid wonder lawyer knew the judge is a a close pal of SAN Terror and that this case was brought specially before him so That SAN Terror will be given unfair advantage over him, and he came prepared to turn the apple cart and cause uproar that its effect will not die in the city for a long time, especially now that they are moving into the city's election year.

He turned to the judge and said I do not wish to start this defence cross examining my client, can I please call on her perceived victim? The judge said, "Call him but do quickly because of time" Richie was wheeled to the witness stand and placed on oath and the cross examination started. One thing that the kid wonder lawyer is thanking God for is that Richie's tongue was not affected by the paralysis, he can talk clearly.

So he faced him and asked, "I learnt that you used to have a memoir, can you recognised it if you see it? Richie was shocked because he did not know that Tolu took the memoir with her, and before he would answer he tried to turn to look for help from SAN Terror to silence this route of questioning but his paralytic body betrayed him and the judge compelled him to answer, but before he would answered the women who remembered what was read in the morning from his memoir began to murmur knowing he did not want more part of that memoir read.

since the judge compelled him to answer he said yes, and the kid wonder lawyer gave the memoir to him to verify if it is his own, he verified that it is. Then the kid wonder lawyer opened to a page and said my Lord I want to read two places from this memoir so that you will see that this memoir that the prosecuting lawyer had called harmless all morning is a bomb that no lady in her right since will see and not run for her dear life.

The judge said he should go on, so he turned to the page and read, " Today tenth of May I proved again that with a little charm any woman on earth can become a toy in a man's hand, with a wink of my eyes I moved the the simpleton away from her husband, and right there on their matrimonial bed I had her with her husband attending to guests in their garden. And what a secret she revealed in her bid to keep my service, no one will know that as handsome as our mayor is he is nothing but a paper horse that can't serviced his beautiful wife!

The court exploded when they heard that he wrote this about the Mayor and his wife, more so this was read to face slap the Mayor who was sitting with his wife in this hearing! The Mayor stood up in shock but his wife could not, she slumped in guilt and it showed clearly by her action to all the people watching her that Richie had her. The noise this time was deafening that the judge was forced to put the court on recess! He asked both SAN Terror and The kid wonder lawyer to meet him in his office. He knew that this young lawyer is doing this on purpose and he is out to cause trouble in the land. As they moved into the office he was thinking of what he can do to stop this kid, but he remembered he is having the backing of Sir Boripe, the richest man in the nation and a childhood bosom friend of the President of the nation and also a class mate of the present chief judge of the whole nation, with this knowledge he knew he must be cautious in the way he will handle this young lawyer. He was also of the opinion that SAN Terror should have objected when he wanted to read that memoir and he would have stopped him. SAN Terror on his own too knew if he tried to stop him from reading from that memoir the public opinion will be raised against his case and he may loose the emotional sentiment that he has gained. More so he did not envisage that such a thing can be in the memoir and that this evil baby lawyer will dare to read it out.

Now he knew this boy is a very dangerous guy that must be handled carefully, while he is thinking about this his mind strayed back to the Mayor his friend and his wife and he wondered how the two of them will manage this crisis that hit them like a bomb in the midst of this tongues wagging crowd.?

When they got into the office, the judge went straight for a glass of water to cool the tension that has risen in his blood stream, then he sat down and faced the kid wonder lawyer and asked, "Just what were you up to in there my friend?" SAN Terror too said, "Yes what were you up to reading such a thing in the public?"

Calmly the kid wonder lawyer said am setting up my defence and am free to use every fact available to defend my client. SAN Terror answered him and said I don't know what you want to gain with what you have done but let me assure you that you've bite more that you can chew by coming against the Mayor in the public. The kid wonder lawyer said let that be my headache sir, did I not warned that we should let the sleeping dog lie?

The judge asked, "When we go back inside there are you still going to continue in that line of questioning?" The kid wonder lawyer said I have not even started sir and it will be difficult to abandon that line of cross examination because it can injure my case. SAN Terror shouted, "You have no case to prove in here my friend" The kid wonder lawyer asked, "Says whom? As long as Tolu is standing trial I have a case to prove, however i may not have a case to prove if you withdraw this case against my client" SAN Terror shouted, "You will not dictate to us, we have paid our dues and we are the ones who made law lucrative for you rookies to be drawn by its lure, when I say you have nothing to prove it means you have nothing to prove, this is my territory I ruled here"

"Sir, you are not the judge and I cannot see how you can rule here, I will only bow to your wish if we get back inside and I see you sitting on the bench, if that do not happen we are both here to prove a case let us face it"

When the judge saw that he could not be intimidated he spoke softly and said, "Look you are like a son to me, I will advise you not to go down the lane that you are going, you will destroy many people and you too can get destroy in the process, please when you get inside change your direction of cross examinations" The kid wonder lawyer said, "Okay sir and thanks for your advice and he left leaving SAN Terror and the judge to ponder on how to do damaged control.

However, by the time the hearing resumed the Mayor and his wife were no more around in the court, the Mayor left fuming while his wife that he left behind left through the back door with head bowed in shame!

The kid wonder lawyer resumed his defence saying, " I said it the other time that this memoir in my hand is a bomb that can blow the city apart but I did not explained why I said so. The reason for my summation are the names of many eminent ladies and wives of eminent men that I see in this memoir, if this court can react the way they react by just hearing a little in many sordid stunts that this man has pulled, how do you think a young lady like my client will react, you can judge for yourself. I will hand over this memoir to this court as an evidence that exonerate my client from been called a devil, but the real reason for her action I will lay bare before this court if this court have the time to continue the hearing today.

The judge said, "Definitely the time is not on our side again today, submit that memoir as you said and we will adjourn till next Tuesday. The kid wonder lawyer gave the memoir to the judge knowing that the memoir will kill Richie's stand in this case, because his wife and that of SAN Terror too patronised Richie's bedroom.

Richie practically dated all the wives of the eminent men he worked for and he used them to gain favour with their husbands, and most of this men were the Mayor' political allies and promoters; this means there will be a shaking in their political camp as the year of the election is drawing in.
