19 Chapter 019: Ice Cream

"Today will be another rather hot day! We have a sudden heatwave going on and don't know how long it'll be here so be sure to enjoy it while you can. Be sure to stay cool out there!"

There was a weather man on the TV that Sato-San had recently bought and the old TV was now sitting in his closet so his father wouldn't find out that Rain broke the TV. He was on his laptop writing volume 3 to "In This World Of Nightmares." The second volume sold better than he thought it would and decided to get straight to work with the third volume.

'It's too hot…The AC broke earlier and now it's getting hard to concentrate…Oh! Maybe we have some ice cream!'

He put his laptop on the nearby table and went to his freezer. He opened it and instantly began sulking.

"We have none…I didn't really want to go outside in this heat…Guess there's nothing I can do."

We walked to his room, changed and told his sister that he would be going out for awhile. Of course she began to interrogate him to see if he was going out with a girl but he managed to convince her that he was going alone.

"I'll be off then."

He walked out of his front door and began heading towards an ice cream stand. It was about a 10 minute walk and he was sweating by the time he reached the stand. However he was about to begin sweating even more since there was now a major problem. Shiratori-San, Fukuhara-San, Natsume-San, Yoshida-San and Sakamoto-Sensei had arrived at the same time as Sato-San. He quickly hid behind a nearby bush. Fukuhara-San quickly looked over at his way.

"Did I just see something?"

"Hm? No, I don't think I saw anything, it might just be your imagination."

The other girls started were looking over at the bush that Sato-San had hid behind and that began to make him worry.

'This is bad! Some of them know of my real self and the others think I'm a huge jerk! I need to get out of here!'

He began to crawl along the bush and tried to find a way to escape. He looked through the bushes to see where all the girls were and saw that Shiratori-San and Sakamoto-Sensei were walking towards him holding ice creams. He froze in place in hope that he wouldn't make any noise and they ended up sitting on the bench that was directly in front of him.

"So why are you here sensei?"

"Oh, I was planning on making my own ice cream but soon discovered that I didn't have any of the necessary ingredients to make some."

"Really? I wanted to have some ice cream but didn't have any at my house so I came to the nearest ice cream stand to buy some."

"If you had the ingredients you could have just made some."

"I have a feeling it would turn out horrible if I tried to make it…Haha…"

"Now that I think about it, you're friends with Sato Higura, right?"

'Why is she bringing me up?!'

"Y-Yes I am!"

She began to turn a bright red as she started to think about Sato-San.

"So someone else has tamed the delinquent…Must feel strange for you, knowing your friend's a known bad seed around school."

'She doesn't know! Why must you do this Sakamoto-Sensei!'

"…I've heard of the rumors but I don't believe in them. He's actually really kind, I've seen him talk with other people and he seems to be thinking of others quite often. So I don't think he's a bad seed or anything like that and I like him for who he is. So I don't consider him a delinquent in any way, that is what I choose to believe in."

"…Okay, that's your thought process. I also don't really consider him a bad seed, I knew him a long time ago so I knew how he used to be."

"You knew Sato-San a long time ago?"

'Wait what?! I don't remember ever meeting her! …Actually considering her age she could be a past senpai…'

"It was when he was 6, I was 12 and surprisingly enough this situation is quite similar to what happened."

"What happened?"

"I think I'd like to keep that to myself."

"That's mean! I'd really like to know!"

"Too bad! It's a secret, maybe if you ask Sato-San he'll tell you! Of course that's if he actually remembers what happened."

Shiratori-San began pouting as she ate her ice cream while it was starting to melt. They both finished their ice creams in about 5 minutes and left the bench they were sitting on.

'Phew, I managed to not be found…Still, her and I met in the past? I don't remember anything like that…Well, I better keep moving.'

He continued to crawl along the bushes and looked through them again to see if anyone was coming towards him. He spotted Natsume-San who was sitting at one of the tables and saw that she was actually studying from the notebook he gave her while she was eating her ice cream.

'That's good, hopefully she'll actually get better scores next time we have a study session…Haaaah…Hopefully…'

He turned his eyes to Yoshida-San who was being swarmed by fans while she was trying to order her ice cream. He didn't see the well known red haired girl he often called slut anywhere.

'Did Fukuhara-San already leave? If so that was pretty fast…'

He crawled out from behind the bushes and started to make a break for it. After running for about 3 minutes he stopped into a cafe to take a breather. He had failed to acquire his ice cream and the running only made him want it more.

In the end he settled for a small tub of ice cream which he later brought home.

We now enter Fukuhara-San's perspective and will now learn why she left so quick.

'I can't believe I ate 2 tubs of ice cream yesterday! We were completely out for today. I guess this heat is getting me worse than I thought.'

She was waking to her nearby ice cream stand since she ate all the ice cream in her house and wanted to eat some more ice cream because of the heat. She reached the ice cream stand after a short walk and went to order but noticed something that seemed to be ducking behind a bush.

"Did I just see something?"

"Hm? No, I don't think I saw anything, it might just be your imagination."

A girl with shoulder length white hair answered her and she looked awfully familiar for some reason but she couldn't think of why. Fukuhara-San walked over to the order window and ordered a large sundae with every topping there was. She took the ice cream and began to walk away. While walking she noticed something moving behind the bushes then saw a face peeking through.

'I-Is that Sato-Senpai? What is he doing?'

She began to feel her face turning a little bit hotter and got out of there as fast as she could. She took her ice cream to her house and went straight to her room after entering the house.

"Why did I run?! It was only Sato-Senpai, I should have walked up to…Him…Why do I feel so self conscious when I think of that? I wonder if there's more to this then I think…I doubt it's that, it has to be the heat the made my face so hot…"

She contemplated what was going on while she ate her large sundae in under a minute…Which was a new personal best.
