18 Chapter 018: On The Way To The Vet

Sato-San was walking to the vet this morning. He had Rain in a carrying cage and was about 10 minutes away now.

"Hopefully there's nothing wrong with you. That would be pretty bad. Huh?"

He noticed a suspiciously familiar person gaining on him. She had red hair that was in a ponytail and was wearing rather fancy clothes. It was Fukuhara Yoko.

"Well this is going to probably ruin my day. Haaaaa…"

He began to speed up and he looked behind agin to see that she wasn't actually looking at him but at her phone. He began to slow down and she walked right past him saying the same thing over and over again.

"I'm late! I'm late! Why did I have to be late!"

He watched as she turned the corner and went into a building.

'Guess she has a job. Well, Rain takes priority and it's not like I want to get mixed up in her life anyway.'

He walked by the building and continued on his way to the vet when he heard a noise and screaming that followed. He turned around to see that Fukuhara-San was laying on the ground and someone was yelling at her. He began to run over and helped Fukuhara-San up.

"You alright?"

"…"

He turned to face the guy as he slowly stood up.

"The hell ya think ya doin'? Leave her on the streets, she's terrible at everything anyways."

"Hey. Why'd you do that?"

"Huh?"

"Why'd you have to throw her out?"

"She's terrible! That's why! Now you get the hell outta here! You're ruining my business!"

"No, I don't think I will."

Fukuhara-San was now sitting up right while tears began to run down her face. Sato-San wound up his fist and punched the guy in the face causing him to fall backwards. He leaned up and had blood coming out of his nose.

"Now I'll leave."

He picked up Fukuhara-San and walked to a nearby park while still holding Rain in one hand.

'…Why'd I do that?! This is really bad! I literally just said that I didn't want to get wrapped up in her life! I hope this doesn't cause any future problems…But I'm surprised my punch did that much!'

While walking he heard people saying stuff around him that only made his worries deepen.

"Isn't that the delinquent from the high school?"

"Yeah I'm pretty sure it is? Did he do something to that girl?"

"Man, should we call the police?"

"Who knows what he'd do to us if we did that!"

'Guess my fake persona is causing more ruckus than I thought. I guess I'll no longer need it once I'm out of school entirely, but that's a long ways off…'

He placed Fukuhara-San in a bench at the park and sat next to her. He put Rain on the ground next to him and turned to look at Fukuhara-San.

"So, what was that about?"

"Thanks…"

"Hm?"

"I said thanks…For punching that bastard in the face. That's the 3rd job this month alone."

"Huh? You're 3rd job? Did you quit the other 2?"

"No. I was fired, not as harshly as I was fired for this one…"

"Huh…Well I'll be going now. It seems you can move on your own-"

"-Why did you help me?"

"…Listen, I may be quite the well known jackass, but I don't go as far to attack people like what that guy did to you. So I guess I did it just for the hell of it, would have probably done it even if it wasn't someone I knew."

"Huh…"

She stood up, walked in front of Sato-San and pointed at him.

"I'm still not going to give up on you falling for me! I hope you're prepared, Sato-Senpai! I'm going to be going all out from now on!"

"…Well that's going to ruin future days of my life."

"What was that?"

"Nothing."

"Okay…"

"Anyway I'll be going now, hope to never see you again, slut."

"And I'm going to see you soon! And don't call me that!"

He left while holding Rain and continued to do his original goal.

"He has a cat. The more you know."

She turned around and began to walk away in the opposite direction while smiling gleefully.
