1 Prologue

"Just make sure you hired the BEST engineer in the Philippines, Ashley." I said as I sat down on the couch. I'm here at a cafe with my bestfriend and we're waiting for the engineer that she referred. "You can't fail me, alright? I need a beautiful and comfortable house since I'm planning to stay here for good."

She placed her purse on the table then looked at me with a wicked smile. "I told you, I hired the BEST."

"Why are you smiling like that? You look creepy!" I snapped at her as I leaned on the couch.

She just laughed at me and sipped on her coffee. "By the way, how's LA?"

"Just fine." Tipid na sagot ko.

I lived in Los Angeles for almost 8 years. I finished college there and worked as a manager at a fast food chain for quite a while since I'm taking over my family's business.

I just came back here in the Philippines yesterday. I missed everything about this country. I missed the traffic, the buildings, the people and the city lights. Including him...

"Just fine? What the hell, Chloe?You have lived in the states for so long and that is all you can answer to my question? You should have a long story to tell!" She said to me with a high-pitched voice. She was about to speak again but she switched her gaze behind me. "But never mind, maybe next time."

My heart immediately pounded when I saw what Ashley was looking at. I feel like I'm having trouble breathing. Joshua  Choi. He's my ex. We were together for 3 years. Ashley knew about us for Pete's sake yet she still set us up like this. How could she do this!

I stood up and smiled awkwardly at Joshua. "Hi, Mr. Choi."

He looked at me coldly as if there was no 'us'. Like he don't know me at all! I will be honest to myself, that shit hurt a little.

"It's been so long, Chloe."

Chloe? First name basis? He just makes me even more nervous!

He gestured to the chair so I quickly sat down like a fool. Why am I acting this way? Stupid Chloe! He may notice that I'm nervous. I need to relax. I fucking need to relax!

I glared at the demonic woman who was grinning in front of me. I cursed at her under my breath.

She just winked at me and looked at Joshua that's sitting beside her

"I'm sorry, Joshua but I really need to go home my son is already waiting."

This ugly woman, you have no child!

Joshua's pair of gray eyes looked at me but if felt like he's looking through my soul! "I guess it will be just the two of us. You and me."
